Development of a Web GIS-based Marine Healing Portal for Building and Utilizing Marine Healing Resource DB (해양치유자원 DB 구축 및 활용을 위한 웹 GIS 기반 해양치유포털 구축)

  • This study, as a pilot study to implement and extend the marine healing which has been rapidly extending oversea areas into the domestic market, has collected seven major marine healing resources such as ocean water, sand, salt, mud, seaweeds, forest, and weather targeting selected four pilot municipalities and established a GIS DB. Furthermore, web GIS based marine healing portal has been established to support the easier utilization of the GIS DB and various marine healing related contents, thereby facilitating expansion of related industry. The portal includes marine thematic maps as well as research papers, related therapy manuals, and various activities and programs of the pilot municipalities. It is expected that the portal would contribute to the expansion of the domestic marine healing industry significantly through the pilot operation of the portal, not to mention of the needs of subsequent studies for expansion of the marine GIS DB and securing more various contents.

  • GIS based new postal marketing method is presented in this paper with spatiotemporal mining to cope with domestic mail volume decline and to strengthening competitiveness of postal business. Market segmentation technique for socialogy of population and spatiotemporal prediction of consumer propensity to purchase through spatiotemporal multi-dimensional analysis are suggested to provide meaningful and accurate marketing information with customers. Internal postal acceptance & external statistical data of local districts in the Seoul Metropolis are used for the evaluation of geo-lifestyle clustering and spatiotemporal cube mining. Successfully optimal 14 maketing clusters and spatiotemporal patterns are extracted for the prediction of consumer propensity to purchase.

A 4S Design on Mobile Ad hoc Networks

  • A provision of spatial information is expected to make a market explosion in various fields. A distribution of spatial data on wireless mobile environments indicates a huge expansion of mobile technology as well as a spread of geospatial applications. For high-qualified spatial information, the 4S technology Project that is integrating four kinds of spatial systems is currently being executed with the goal of nationwide integration of spatial data and spatial information systems. In terms of network environments, a mobile ad hoc network where mobile terminals communicate with each other without any infrastructures has been standardized for the next generation mobile wireless network. With respect to the future technologies for spatial information, it is necessary to design 4S applications on mobile ad hoc networks. This paper addresses the issue, which is proposing design concepts for distributing 4S spatial data on mobile ad hoc networks and for ad hoc styled 4S applications.

  • 최근 민간사업분야에서도 GIS를 응용하려는 시도가 많아지고 있다. 몇몇 도전적인 기업들은 수년 전부터 GIS를 도입하여 주요의사결정에 활용하고 있으며, 매년 GIS 활용도를 높여가고 있다. 실제 본 연구도 경쟁이 치열한 국내 할인점 시장에서 GIS 도입을 통해 근본적인 경쟁력 확보를 희망하는 기업의 경영과제를 해결하는 것으로 시작됐다. 이러한 기업들은 지역의 특성을 단편적으로 파악하는 것에 만족하지 않고 지역별로 어떠한 전략을 수립할 것인지에 대한 해법을 요구하며, 이를 통해 새로운 수요창출을 기대하고 있다. 매출을 높이는 것은 모든 기업의 주요 경영목표이다. 이러한 점을 고려할 때 GIS를 이용한 매출예측은 기업들에 큰 의미가 있다. 특히 백화점이나 할인점 등의 점포를 운영하는 기업들에는 객관적인 경영전략을 지원하는 도구로 활용할 수 있다. 그래서 단순한 예측 수준을 뛰어 넘어 매출 향상을 위한 방안 마련까지 요구되고 있다. 기존의 GIS를 이용한 매출예측은 특정 반경 내 인문사회적 통계자료를 추출하여 통계적 방법에 의해 매출을 추정하는 과정을 통해 이뤄진다. 이는 과거의 정보를 기반으로 현재를 진단하는 효율적인 방법이다. 하지만, 어떠한 전략으로 내일을 준비해야 하는지에 대한 해법을 제시하기에는 한계가 있다. 이러한 이유로 기존방법론은 예측에 대한 통계적 설명력이 높다 하더라도 기업들의 현장업무에서 활용되지 못하고 있다. GIS를 이용한 매출예측 방법이 기업활동에 활용되려면 과거의 매출정보를 기반으로 현재를 진단하는 역할, 지역별로 차별화된 마케팅 전략 수립, 국지적 단위의 시장 진단과 매출 향상 방안 등을 지원하여야 한다. 본 연구는 매출발생이 예상되는 지역의 경계를 설정하여 상권영역을 생성하는 방법론이 핵심이다. 다시 말해 예상되는 매출 영역을 폴리곤 단위로 추출한다는 것이다. 기업들에 어느 정도의 매출이 어떤 지역에서 발생할 것인지에 대한 정보를 제공하면 지역별 매출 향상을 위한 전략 마련이 가능하다. 수치만을 제공하는 매출 예측방법과 비교하면 구체적인 마케팅 활동을 지원할 수 있는 특징이 있다. 이러한 방법론은 기업의 마케팅 활동에 실질적인 도움을 줄 것으로 판단된다.

Business Trends in Geo-Spatial Information and Service Market

  • NASA's remote sensing market analysis and forecast projects 3.3 billion dollars in 2005. On the other hand, a market research firm expected that world commercial remote sensing imagery, GIS software, Data, and value-added services will generate 8.3 billion dollar in 2007. It has been widely believed that geo-spatial information and service market is growing rapidly and has a huge potential, but it is not clearly understood where it is now and will be heading in the future. Also, it could be a significant question to answer where the industry in Korea fits the best in the world business trends and where it should be strategically heading to take a large market share. Furthermore, if it could be worth being considered as a Korean strategic industry for the future. Instead of pursuing direct answers to the questions, the author will start reviewing general business practices, major business transactions such as merging and acquisitions (M&A's) and initial public offerings (IPO's), and research on market capitalization and revenue of major companies. Throughout the study, a list of common grounds in the market was uncovered and realized as follows: (1) value-added data matters in geo-spatial information and service market; (2) private sector grows faster; (3) characteristics of multi-national industry; and (4) Dependency on major industry. Based on the findings, the author presents a list of recommendations as conclusions.

  • A The purpose of this study is to analyze the locational characteristics of the traditional market. In Seoul, small Conventional markets are directly connected with the living of citizens and becoming an important role for organization of the urban functions in the residential area. For this study, 32 Traditional Markets located on Seongbuk, Kangbuk and Dobong-Gu, were analyzed based on GIS, and within 500m related areas of market were categorized and researched by the level of urban infrastructure state. The contents of this study are composed of following three topics, partially theoretical review, general consideration and case studies. The study found that there is in need of improving urban infrastructure in conventional market areas, which has been identified during the research of urban infrastructure. Also, the study shows that it is necessary to develop comprehensive plans by timing and phase in order to improve commercial environment of the areas related while providing essential urban infrastructure. In addition, from the perspective of conventional market regeneration policy, physical conditions of the areas concerned should be focused on the perspective of developing plans and urban infrastructure elements.

  • Many cities have provided growth management measure for preventing urban sprawl and disordered development by rapid urbanization. Many Korean cities also, have been pressed by development issues as well as the Seoul Metropolitan Area. This study aims to predict urban growth and develop Urban Growth Management Model with Geographic Information System and quantitative method. Especially, this study provides reasonable management method by presenting prediction scenario considered institutional-oriented and demand-oriented. This study also, provides a scientific basis using GIS and quantitative analysis, and present decision making of planning and implementation process through simulation.

  • The Pocket PC has become more popular in market because of the advantages of its small size and convenience for regular customers. Pocket PC is a mobile device so that we can receive the benefits of shared data over a wireless network. Enabling us to transmit data to a central location, simply messaging from one point to the next, its ability to share information across a wireless platform is becoming central to our communication needs. However, using Windows CE - an embedded operating system, as well as being designed for mobile users, there are many limitations to memory and speed of arithmetic operations on Pocket PC. As a result, developers have to deal with many difficulties in managing information storage when developing applications, especially Geography Information System (GIS) applications. In this paper, we propose some efficient methods to store GIS data and to increase the speed of displaying maps in GIS applications developed on Pocket PC and Windows CE 3.0.

  • Geographic Information System The geographic information system (GIS) has been limited to the government and some public sectors. Recently, the market has been diversified by combining with other areas such as mobile and CRM (Customer Relationship Management). The development direction of GIS technology in the 21st century is Web GIS, 3D GIS, mobile GIS, LBS, etc. as general technology for GIS application system development and spatial information service. In this study, we developed a new concept marking nail (a marking nail with built - in intelligent storage memory device) from the function of simple positioning of a marking nail related to a previously used underground item,, Burial depth, pipe thickness, piping material, management agency, contractor, contact, etc.) and store it in DB server, if necessary.Make it available in the right place. Through this research, it is possible to prevent and minimize various accidents caused by irregular excavation works, etc., and to provide information for establishing countermeasures related to sink holes. In order to provide systematic and reliable information on underground burial management, it was proposed to input information conveniently in the field, and the purpose was to reduce the incidence of buried underground pipes absolutely.

An Empirical Research on Location Suitability Evaluation System for Public Rental Logistics Space (공공형 임대물류공간 입지적정성 평가체계에 관한 실증 연구)

  • In recent years, market access is expected to become more important in logistics location selection. In addition, it is necessary to support logistics functions for small and medium-sized enterprises. In this study, we propose a location suitability evaluation system for public rental logistics spaces. The location selection and evaluation system of the public rental logistics space proposed in this study is composed of large (5), medium (10), and small (20) indicators. The 1st class were five factors: market factors, economic factors, transportation factors, site factors, policy and social factors, and the 2nd classifications per the 1st class, and the 3rd class for each 2nd class. After deriving the relative importance of each indicator through AHP for experts, it was verified by utilizing GIS analysis for virtual candidates in the metropolitan area. As a result of the trial application, it was evaluated that it could be applied with realistic results. In addition, it was confirmed that it is possible to apply evaluation indicators using spatial data constructed in Korea, and to use the evaluation indicators, it is necessary to perform various spatial analysis and processing tasks on raw data.
