  • With the rapid expansion of application fields of vector data model such as CAD design drawing and GIS digital map, the security technique for vector data model has been issued. This paper presents the vector data hashing for the authentication and copy protection of vector data model. The proposed hashing groups polylines in main layers of a vector data model and generates the group coefficients by the line curve curvatures of the first and second type of all poly lines. Then we calculate the feature coefficients by projecting the group coefficients onto the random pattern and generate finally the binary hash from the binarization of the feature coefficients. From experimental results using a number of CAD drawings and GIS digital maps, we verified that the proposed hashing has the robustness against various attacks and the uniqueness and security by the random key.

  • To overcome the limitation that traditional GISs lose much information for the real world, 4-dimensional GIS has the additional reference systems including object's height and temporal dimension. This paper describes the 4-dimensional geometric object model and components. The prototype for 4-dimensional GIS consists of the data provider, manager, and renderer components. We show the virtual city that its database contains topographic maps, buildings, roads and temporal history data. This provides spatial, temporal operations and analysis functions.

  • This study developed a GIS-based suitability assessment model of coastal zoning system that is needed in the substantial classification of coastal zoning system according to the establishment of law about coastal zoning system. First, this study investigated several kinds of regulations, GIS database and application system related coastal area. Also, grid data model was selected as the GIS analytical model for calculating items of suitability assessment of coastal zoning system. And Grid-based analytical method was suggested for calculating items composing of sea and spatial location characteristics including physical one. Critical values of items were presented using standards that were suggested in coastal regulations and land suitability assessment. Especially, this study presented a calculation method of continuous pattern as fuzzy set function for reflecting the characteristics of GIS data. And this study classified the suitability grade using Z-score and developed model designating coastal zone as conservation management priority, utilization management priority, and planning management priority. This study is judged that very efficient business performance is possible if we consider the spatial coverage of study area and GIS database when the suitability assessment model of coastal zoning system that is suggested in this study, is applied to business works.

  • Based on real jobs, this study was carried out the Railway maintenance works in Taiwan. It hopes to use Geographic Information System(GIS) and Building Information Modeling(BIM) for changing the maintenance model from "post-damage repair" to "preventive maintenance". Accordingly, this research will build a Railway Repairing Database that installs all repair data. This database will also connect to GIS so that can be the source of analysis and statistic for repair paln. The main results of research are as follows: I. All data stored on cloud space that raises the ability to manage and plan on repair. II. Simplify the file work and increase the quantity of case data to the manager who can get more reliable source. III. The data offer objective judgment to avoid subjective argument. IV. Add the GIS information to improve the maintenance because of good analisis.

  • We have conducted surface electrical resistivity surveys along with the electrical logging at Bookil-Myun, Chungwon-Goon, Choongchungbuk-Do to determine the depths of basement and water table, and for the purpose of preparing the basic input data for hydrogeologic model combined with GIS. A twenty lines of dipole-dipole array survey and a twenty-five stations of resistivity sounding were performed and ten holes were employed for electrical logging to cross check the surface data. A combined interpretation gave the quantitative information of the shallow geologic structure over the area and we constructed layers using the grid analysis of Arc/info. The constructed layers were turned out to be similar to the geologic structure confirmed from the drilling data and we concluded that the methodology adopted in this study would be applicable to hydrogeologic model setup as a tool of providing the basic input data.

  • Using ArcGIS Model Builder, with emphasis on the importance of ecology and user friendliness, a model for site selecting tool is developed. This tool is developed by establishing standardized method for data selection and analysis with evaluation criteria using GIS. For this task, our first action was to objectively define and establish 18 elements to evaluate the potentiality of the site based on extensive literature reviews. These 18 elements reflect environmental, social/cultural and legal aspects that may influence the decision process to select the desired site. Secondly, using ArcGIS Model Builder, 18 analytical elements were made into thematic mapping which represent systematically organized graphic input to the model with automatic double check system and overlay analysis capability. Thirdly, to validate the effectiveness of the developed model, site location analysis was performed using the actual site, Buk-ku, Pohang.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a GIS application and interface model (GISCELWAB) for the temporal and spatial simulation of surface runoff from a small watershed. The model was constituted by three sub - models : The input data extraction model (GISINDATA) which prepares cell-based input data automatically for a given watershed, the cell water balance model(CELWAB) which calculates the water balance for a cell and simulates surface runoff of watershed simultaneously by the interaction of cells, and the output data management model(GISOUTDISP) which visualize the results of temporal and spatial variation of surface runoff. The input data extraction model was developed to solve the time-consuming problems for the input-data preparation of distributed hydrologic model. The input data for CELWAB can be obtained by extracting ASCII data from a vector map. The output data management model was developed to convert the storage depth and discharge of cell into grid map. This model ean-bles to visualize the temporal and spatial formulation process of watershed storage depth and surface runoff wholly with time increment.

  • A GRId-based Soil MOsture Routing Model(GRISMORM) which predicts temporal variation and spatial distribution of water balance on a daily time step for each grid element of the watershed was developed. The model was programmed by C-language which aims for high flexibility to any kind of GIS softwares. The model uses ASCII-formatted map data supported by the irregular gridded map of the GRASS(Geographic Resources Analysis Support System)-GIS and generates daily or monthly spatial distribution map of water balance components within the watershed. The model was applied to Ipyunggyo watershed(75.6$km^2$) ; the part of Bocheongchun watershed. Predicted streamflows resulting from two years(95 and 96) daily data were compared with those observed at the watershed outlet. The results of temporal variation and spatial distribution of soil moisture are also presented by using GRASS.

  • The main objective of this study is to simulate the rainfall-runoff relationship of the Ohwon rivet basin. For the this study, we used GIS technique and HMS(Hydrological Modeling System). In this study, watershed itself and geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using a GIS technique. The scanned data of topographical map with scale of 1:50,000 in the Ohwon river basin is used to this study and it is converted to DEM data. The parameters of Hydrological Modeling System as watershed area(A), river length, SCS Curve Number(CN) etc. are extracted by using the GIS technique in the Ohwon Basin. Extracted parameters are applied to the Hydrological Model System, then the paramenters optimized by the observed data and rainfall data. Then, the optimized parameters and Hydrological Modeling System are applied to the study area for the simulation of rainfall-runoff relationship. With the resultn of this study, GIS technique is useful to the extraction of watershed characteristics factors and Hydrological Modeling System is successful to the simulation of rainfall-runoff relationship.

  • The purpose of this paper, the 2nd stage of this study. is to test the applicability of the potential centrality evaluation model (PCEM) to a case study area. To verify the practical applicabilities of the PCEM, an administrative area of Ucheon-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do was selected as a study area. Full data on the human environments of total 72 villages within the study area were surveyed. Data on the natural environments were collected through GIS analysis from digital maps developed far this study. The highest PCI (Potential Centrality Index) score was shown at Uhang village of which one being 841 (total score being 1,000), the real single center village of the study area. The evaluation results on potential centeralities of all the villages in the study area would provide decision-makers with more precised information for selection of center villages for development project.
