  • Many cities have provided growth management measure for preventing urban sprawl and disordered development by rapid urbanization. Many Korean cities also, have been pressed by development issues as well as the Seoul Metropolitan Area. This study aims to predict urban growth and develop Urban Growth Management Model with Geographic Information System and quantitative method. Especially, this study provides reasonable management method by presenting prediction scenario considered institutional-oriented and demand-oriented. This study also, provides a scientific basis using GIS and quantitative analysis, and present decision making of planning and implementation process through simulation.

Spatial Crime Analysis using GIS (GIS를 이용한 범죄의 공간적 특성)

  • To deal with the modern intellectual criminal acts, various efforts have been tried. Especially, it is not difficult to watch the recent activities to analyze the criminal characteristics spatially using computing and GIS technology. In this study, the spatial features and patterns of crime are investigated. Based on the real criminal record in Seoul Korea, the crime is reconstituted with four major categories such as assault, larceny, robbery, and rape. Then the variables are derived based on the theory of criminology. The kernal density analysis is performed to investigate the criminal distribution, and the correlation between the main criminal causes and the criminal outbreak is examined by buffering analysis. In addition, the land price and land usages are correlated with social-economic factors of criminal patterns to produce the final crime map.

  • The broad meaning of system integration is to satisfy user requirement, and to secure and offer Hardware, Software, network, System development, maintenance, education and manpower in his own responsibility for successful business. But the basic concept of system integration is not justified and the methodology of propel procedure is not established. Therefore, in this thesis. first, We established the bagic concept of system integration in practical view. second, We modeled the propel procedure of system integration with many large project examples in view of up to date IT (information technology) view. We can enhance the compatative advantage by liking organizational strategy and IT and executing GIS project in view of system integration

  • This Paper reports that a new remote sensing techlique focused on a narrow and long strip target (e.g. 15m wide and 100km long) has been specifically developed for pipeline ROW (Right-Of-Way) recovery monitoring. With video it was possible to isolate the maior vegetation communities of the narrow pipeline ROW with acceptable spatial precision by visual or quantitative methods. It was particuarly useful when used to assess a variety of spatial patch dynamics for ROW recovery through digital change-detection techniques in a GIS environment. The main conclusion of this paper is that VSM is a realistic operational technique for a pipeline ROW application. The results also indicate that VSM could be extensively used for other examples of linear thematic mapping.

  • The purpose of this study is not only preserving and restoring our nation's precious cultural inheritances transmitted for half millennia but informing the world of them. This study also aims recognizing the necessity of transmitting them to prosperity, constructing three-dimensional database by using a photogrammetry and VRML method and utilizing basic data of treasure exhibition with the progress of exhibition technique development on cyber space. Therefore, in this study, I suggest three dimensional modeling method that acquire three dimensional database about cultural properties through photogrammetry method which can acquire three-dimensional coordinates with easy and can express various color and stuff-feeling by using VRML.

  • 본 연구에서는 인공신경망 기법을 이용하여 산사태 발생원인에 대한 가중치를 구하였다. 여름철 집중호우시 산사태가 많이 발생하는 강원도 강릉시 사천면 사기막리 와 주문진읍 삼교리에 해당한다. 산사태가 발생할 수 있는 요인으로 지형도로부터 경사, 경사방향, 곡률, 수계추출을, 정밀토양도로부터 토질, 모재, 배수, 유효토심, 지형을, 임상도로부터 임상, 경급, 영급, 밀도를, 지질도로부터 암상을, Landsat TM 영상으로부터 토지이용도와 추출하여 격자화 하였으며, 아리랑1호 영상으로부터 선구조를 추출하여 l00m 간격으로 버퍼링 한 후 격자화 하였다. 이렇게 구축된 산사태 발생 위치 및 발생요인 데이터 베이스를 이용하여 인공신경망 기법을 적용하여 산사태 발생 원인에 대한 상대적인 가중치를 구하였다. 인공신경망의 역전파 알고리즘을 이용한 사기막리 지역과 삼교리 지역의 산사태 가중치를 보면 GPS를 이용한 현장조사와 위성영상을 이용한 변화탐지 기법모두의 경우모두와 훈련지역을 실제 산사태 발생 지역과 경사도가 0°인 지역, 실제 산사태 발생 지역과 Frequence ratio를 이용하여 작성한 취약성도에서 산사태 발생이 낮을 것으로 예상되는 지역, Frequence ratio를 이용한 취약성도에서 산사태 발생이 높을 것으로 예상되는 지역 과 낮을 것으로 예상되는 지역의 경우에서도 경사도는 1.5~2.5배정도 높은 상대적 가중치를 나타냈다. 이러한 가중치는 산사태 취약성도를 작성하는데 활용될 수 있다.

A Study on Caching Methods in Client-Server Systems for Mobile GIS (모바일 GIS를 위한 클라이언트-서버 시스템에서 캐슁기법 연구)

  • Although the reuse of the cached data for scrolling the map reduces the amount of passed data between client and server, it needs the conversions of data coordinates, selective deletion of objects and cache compaction at client. The conversion is time intensive operation due to limited resources of mobile phones such as low computing power, small memory. Therefore, for the efficient map control in the vector map service based mobile phone, it is necessary to study the method for reducing wireless network bandwidth and for overwhelming the limited resources of mobile phone as well. This paper proposes the methods for caching pre-received spatial objects in client-server systems for mobile GIS. We also analyze the strengths and drawbacks between the reuse of cached data and transmission of raw data respectively.

  • Up to the present, many GIS logical data models have been proposed to incorporate time dimension into traditional 2-dimensional (2D space) GIS databases. However, these models are difficult to implementation of multi-dimensional GIS and have problems of significant data redundancy and search performance. This paper proposes a new storage strategy and a separate storage structure, that is composed of current database and past database, in order to reduce data redundancy and improve search performance of temporal query. Also we design moving algorithm for migration from current database to past database, and design efficient search algorithm for temporal query.

GIS Vector Map Compression using Spatial Energy Compaction based on Bin Classification (빈 분류기반 공간에너지집중기법을 이용한 GIS 벡터맵 압축)

  • Recently, due to applicability increase of vector data based digital map for geographic information and evolution of geographic measurement techniques, large volumed GIS(geographic information service) services having high resolution and large volumed data are flowing actively. This paper proposed an efficient vector map compression technique using the SEC(spatial energy compaction) based on classified bins for the vector map having 1cm detail and hugh range. We encoded polygon and polyline that are the main objects to express geographic information in the vector map. First, we classified 3 types of bins and allocated the number of bits for each bin using adjacencies among the objects. and then about each classified bin, energy compaction and or pre-defined VLC(variable length coding) were performed according to characteristics of classified bins. Finally, for same target map, while a vector simplification algorithm had about 13%, compression ratio in 1m resolution we confirmed our method having more than 80% encoding efficiencies about original vector map in the 1cm resolution. Also it has not only higher compression ratio but also faster computing speed than present SEC based compression algorithm through experimental results. Moreover, our algorithm presented much more high performances about accuracy and computing power than vector approximation algorithm on same data volume sizes.

Estimation of Trigger Rainfall for Threshold Runoff in Mountain River Watershed (산지하천 유역의 한계유출량 분석을 위한 기준우량 산정)

  • This study is on the purpose of leading Geomorphoclimatic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph(GcIUH) by using GIS Techniques, and estimating trigger rainfall for predicting flash flood in Seolmacheon catchment, mountain river watershed. This study leads GcIUH by using GIS techniques, calculates NRCS-CN values for effective rainfall rate, and analyzes 2011 main rainfall events using estimated GcIUH. According to the results, the case of Memorial bridge does not exceed the amount of threshold runoff, however, the case of Sabang bridge shows that simulated peak flow, approximately $149.4m^3/s$, exceeds the threshold runoff. To estimate trigger rainfall, this study determines the depth of 50 year-frequency designed flood amount as a threshold water depth, and estimates trigger rainfall of flash flood in consideration of duration. Hereafter, this study will analyze various flood events, estimate the appropriateness of trigger rainfall as well as threshold runoff through this analysis, and develop prototype of Flash Flood Prediction System which is considered the characteristics of mountain river watershed on the basis of this estimation.
