A Study on OLE/COM-based GIS Data Provider Component Development Toward Application System Development (응용시스템 구축을 위한 OLE/COM 기반의 GIS 데이터 제공자 컴포넌트 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • Recently , as GIS technology is rapidly improved and stabilized, there are some needs to reuse pre-developed and powerful GIS technology. GIS standardization based on components and open interfaces becomes a way to solve those reusability of previous GIS technology. This GIS standardization currently focuses on building the GIS Data Infrastructure that is being deployed globally. Especially, OpenGIS consortium which is mainly made up of international GIS leading vendors is announcing some GIS abstract specifications and implementation specifications. This study focuses on how could we design and implement the OLE/COM-based data provider component based on various DBMS or file systems, how could these data provider components be used for enterprise UIS(Urban Information Systems) and how could various formatted GIS data be shared in one system. Also some problems practically caused by an implementation process of data provider component are listed up and some solutions are given. Furthermore, design and analysis of UML(Unified Modeling Language) was reformed through the data provider component development task and this UML methodology is able to indicate a standardized model for newly developed data provider component.

  • Climate change affects all components of the global environment system and, in turn, all components mutually interact and affect climate change through non-linear feedback processes. It is thus necessary to study the interaction between the climate and the environment, in order to comprehensively understand and predict climate and environment change. However, current relevant systems are limited to particular areas and do not sufficiently support the mutual linking of research studies. Therefore, this study develops prototype a GIS based integrated DB management system for supporting the climate and environment data storage, management and distribution. The integrated DB management system was developed using VB.NET languages and ArcObjects component. First, considering the demands of climate environment experts, the study areas are selected and the methods of data management and utilization were defined. In addition, a location-based GIS DB was created in order to aid in understanding climate change through visual representation. Finally, the integrated DB management system provides an efficient data management and distribution data and it creates synergistic effect on climate and environment study. It also contributes significantly to the comprehensive diagnosis and prediction of climate change and environment systems.

  • An integrated 3D GIS-based approach for understanding underground environment is proposed and applied to a land subsidence in densely populated region. Bedrock and geological discontinues were treated as main factors in this study. Because land subsidence in this study area was caused by cavity owing to dissolved limestone in percolating ground water. Ground was classified according to bedrock types using a clustering method and geological information, N value, and RQD value of boreholes were visualized and integrated by 3D-GIS. Therefore it was possible to recognize underground space easily and analyze the ground information effectively.

  • According to the evolution of the Internet and wireless mobile communication technology, techniques for mobile databases and wireless web services are issued for them. Recently, these changes of geographic application environment increase the needs for development of new GIS database system for the web services and embedded system. In this paper, we proposed a Jana-based web database systems that can be used in the web-based GIS and mobile databases. This proposed system has been implemented using the Java to be displayed easily into the portable computing devices and Java-based web application servers and using OpenGIS for web data interoperability. Also, it can efficiently process web-based spatial queries by developing a spatial query processor including schema manager and a spatial object storage module.

Survey of Bedrock Quality and Suitable Site for Crushed Stones using GIS in the Wondeung Area (GIS를 이용한 원등일대의 기반암품질과 골재개발적지 분석)

  • Investigation of bedrock quality and the legal restriction for developing the aggregate resources were carried out with GIS in the Wondeung area Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do province. Firstly, we surveyed the exposed bedrocks in the field and examined in physical properties in the lab. Secondly we analyzed the legal restriction by using GIS based on bufferzone and viewshed analysis. At the results of this study, the area can be used totally as the crushed stones. However the suitability sites of crushed stone have various regulations. So the legal restriction is the principal standard to develop the crushed stone in the Wondeung area. Suitable site for crushed stones are about 30% in the Wondeung area.

  • This study proposed the method for the SWMM data generation connected with the spatial database and designed the data model in order to display flooding information such as the runoff sewer system, flooding areas and depth. A variety of data, including UIS, documents related to the disasters, and rainfall data are used to generate the attributes for flooding analysis areas. The spatial data is constructed by the ArcSDE and Oracle DB. The prototype system is also developed to display the runoff areas based on the GIS using the ArcGIS ArcObjects and spatial DB. The results will be applied to the flooding analysis based on the SWMM.

  • This study develops a GIS-based system which examines the adequacy of the Groundwater development project before the actual designing of the project. Using the system developed here, we can transfer simulation results obtained by WHPA regarding Groundwater levels in new development projects into GIS. We can also judge whether a Groundwater development project should be permitted through examining overlaps of the effects of the development and comparing with other pollutants. Since a two-tiered system which shares DB using inter- and intranets is developed, all the departments in the ministry of agriculture and forest and the agriculture base corporation can share accurate, reliable and latest information related to Groundwater.

  • This study describes a development of GIS-based program called Debris Flow Analyzer for simulating the hazard extent of debris flow on the assumption that is uniform continuous, incompressible, unsteady. The Debris Flow Analyzer was designed to process debris flow numerical simulation with Finite Difference Formulation; smoothed DEM, slope, debris flow directions, extract valley, debris volume, water volume, debris flow moving speed, effective viscosity, dynamic friction coefficient. Also, it is expected that we can be improved the inform of debris flow hazard map by Google Earth.

  • 최근 웹 확산에 따른 일반인들의 인터넷 이용이 급증하였고 이에 따른 정보 기술도 빠르게 변화하고 있다. GIS 분야에서도 시대의 흐름에 맞춰 지리정보 데이타를 웹상에서 제공하는 웹 GIS 분야가 등장하게 되었다. 그러나, 상호 이질적인 지리정보 데이타를 웹 기반 분산 환경에서 서비스하기 위해 표준 인터페이스와 각각의 웹 서비스 모델을 정의한 통합 시스템이 요구되고 있다. OGC(OpenGIS Consortium)에서는 기존 OpenGIS(Open Geodata Interoperabillty Specification)의 상호운용성을 웹 환경에서 지원하고, 또한 상호이질석인 지리정보의 접근을 위해 새로운 웹 맵 서버인터페이스 구현 명세(Web Map Server Interface Implementation Specification)를 제안하였다. 웹 맵 서버 인터페이스 구현 명세는 웹상에서 공간 질의를 처리하기 위안 URL 컴포넌트를 정의하고 있으며, URL 형식의 클라이언트 질의를 수행한 결과를 웹 브라우저에서 이미지 포맷으로 지리정보를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 OGC가 최근 제안한 XML(eXtendible Markup Language)기반의 표준 공간 데이터 포맷인 GML(Geography Markup Language)과 웹 맵 서버 인터페이스를 이용해 분산된 지리정보 데이터를 웹 브라우서를 통하여 서비스할 수 있는 웹 맵 서버를 설계 및 구현하였다. 따라서 클라이언트는 본 논문에서 개발한 웹 맵 서버를 통하여 별도의 응용 프로그램을 개발하지 않고도 다양한 GIS 시버들의 종류와 위치에 관계없이 표준 인터페이스를 통해 이를 GIS 서버들로부터 공간 데이터를 접근할 수 있다.
