  • As electrical discharge machinery(EDM) is industrial process which is manufactured by discharge energy, by producing discharge, EDM process finished material at the little micrometer air gap. Especially, EDM is used for the characteristic of heat-resisting material, it puts to use air-space industrial element, confusing shaping material such as jet engine, rocket elements. Working performance. is changed by environment of working, discharge current voltage and duration of discharge pulse. Evaluation of performance working is work speed, clearance smoothing of product surface, wasting of pole. In this paper, this machine is compensated by adaptive controller which corrects the weak points of classical machine which is observed and operated working condition by user in hands. The previous purpose is main object in this thesis. The adaptive controller automatically detect abnormal condition and working conditions. To improve performance, surface smoothing and working speed, the adaptive controller uses fuzzy control strategy. To evaluate performance, this controller is implemented by microprocessor i80c196 and is applied real experimental machine.

  • To analyze the transient state of an induction motor, there have been studies for using the magnetic equivalent circuit method(MECD) instead of the time differential finite-element method. MECD which analyzes magnetic equivalent circuits after converting each part of an electric machine into the magnetic circuit elements, has the merits of short calculation-time and comparatively accurate results. To analyze an electric machine with MECM, we have to replace stator and rotor with the magnetic elements and express the air gap, where electromechanical energy conversion takes place, with the permeance. So in this study, to analyze an Induction Motor with HECM, we express the magnetic equivalent circuit as algebraic equations and then as the matrix for solving easily them. In particular, all relations are formed with matrixes to solve Mathematically them in the programming process later. As a result, this theory will be the basis on the static and dynamic analysis of an Induction Motor.

A Study on Design Sensitivity of Elastomeric O-ring Squeezed and Highly Pressurized Under Laterally One-sided Constrained Condition (단 측벽 구속하에서 압축 및 내압을 받는 고무 오링의 설계 민감도 연구)

  • Static or dynamic elastomeric O-ring seals are installed between joining parts, and play key roles of high pressure-tightening. Sealing performance and structural safety of the O-ring are dependent on groove design, plain diameter, squeeze and applications such as pressure and temperature. In this study, to solve O-ring problem squeezed and highly pressurized under laterally one-sided constrained condition, hyperelastic FE analyses are performed, and FE results are compared with measured ones by computer-aided tomography, deformed shape and extrusion depth of the O-ring. Through the comparisons, FE analysis technique was verified. In order to evaluate design sensitivity, Taguchi method was used to select FE analysis cases. Adjustment parameters are clearance gap, groove comer radius, plain diameter and squeeze. By means of verified FE analysis technique, it has been analysed how the parameters have effects on contact stress fields, internal stress fields, and extrusion depths. Sealing performance has been evaluated based on contact stress fields and contact widths, and structural safety on internal stress and strain, extrusion lengths.

  • The technique to design high performance small motors has been based on experimental data, which results from lots of cost, experience and time in manufacturing. Recently, as high-performance computer appears, many engineers use numerical methods to design and analyze electric machine. Since, the step motor which has very small air gap(0.02-0.05mm) is different from other electric machine in its structure. The shape of rotor teeth and stator teeth influence seriously on the torque characteristics. And it is operated over magnetic saturation point. Therefore, the design of step motor needs to solve nonlinear problem and to calculate magnetic field precisely. In this paper, we solve nonlinear problem by employing Finite Element Method and obtain torque-displacement characteristics for the design of step motor. We also manufacture VR step motor according to the obtained results, and measure some torque characteristics. Through comparing calculated results with experimental results, it is verified that FEM is very useful to design step motor, and the motor designed by our technique is improved in its step accuracy.

Cogging Torque Reduction in Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

  • Cogging torque has a negative impact on the operation of permanent magnet machines by increasing torque ripple, speed ripple, acoustic noise and vibration. In this paper Magnet Shifting Method has been used as a tool to reduce the cogging torque in inset Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (LSPMSM). It has been shown that Magnet Shifting Method can effectively eliminate several lower-order harmonics of cogging torque. In order to implement the method, first the expression of cogging torque is studied based on the Fourier analysis. An analytical expression is then introduced based on Permanent Magnet Shifting to reduce cogging torque of LSPMS motors. The method is applied to some existing machine designs and their performances are obtained using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The effect of magnet shifting on pole mmf (magneto motive force) distribution in air gap is discussed. The side effects of magnet shifting on back-EMF, core losses and torque profile distortion are taken into account in this investigation. Finally the experimental results on two prototypes 24 slot 4 pole inset LSPMS motors have been used to validate the theoretical analysis.

  • Linear pulse Motors(LPM) are widely used in fields where smooth linear motion is required, and their position accuracy is higher than other motors. Hybrid linear pulse motors(HLPM) are regarded as an excellent solution to positioning problems that require high accuracy, rapid acceleration and high-speed. The LPM has low mechanical complexity, high reliability, precise open-loop operation and low inertia etc. In many application areas such as factory automation speed positioning, computer peripherals and numerically controlled machine tools, LPM can be used. This motor drive system is especially suitable for machine tools the high position accuracy and repeatability. This paper describes about that need of the embroider machine, we want to design position-scanning device for the embroidery machine. At first, to be analysed characteristics of the machine and next designed the LPM, we used the field analysis program. The finite element method(FEM) program tool is employed for calculation the force. The reluctance models will be used the magnetic permeance of air gap by static-conditions. The forces between forcer and platen have been calculated using the virtual work method. And we used the simulink to know the dynamic characteristics of LPM.

The Effect of Electrical and Optical Characteristics on ZnO Thin Film with Si Dopant (Si 첨가물이 ZnO의 전기적, 광학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • ZnO is an n-type semiconductor with a wide band gap near 3.37 eV. It was known that ZnO films with a resistivity of the order of $10^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$ is not easy to obtain. 1, 3, and 5wt% Si element were added into ZnO in ordre to improve the electrical and optical characteristics. The Si-doped ZnO (SZO) was grown on a glass substrate by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering at the temperature range from 100 to $500^{\circ}C$. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of SZO film showed preferable crystal orientation of (002) plane. It was confirmed that the lowest resistivity of the SZO films was $2.44{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$ and SZO films were significantly influenced by the working temperature. The average transmittance of the films was over 80% in the visible ranges.

Optical characteristics of p-type ZnO epilayers doped with Sb by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition

  • ZnO is a widely investigated material for the blue and ultraviolet solid-state emitters and detectors. It has been promoted due to a wide-band gap semiconductor which has large exciton binding energy of 60 meV, chemical stability and low radiation damage. However, there are many problems to be solved for the growth of p-type ZnO for practical device applications. Many researchers have made an efforts to achieve p-type conductivity using group-V element of N, P, As, and Sb. In this letter, we have studied the optical characteristics of the antimony-doped ZnO (ZnO:Sb) thin films by means of photoluminescence (PL), PL excitation, temperature-dependent PL, and time-resolved PL techniques. We observed donor-to-acceptor-pair transition at about 3.24 eV with its phonon replicas with a periodic spacing of about 72 meV in the PL spectra of antimony-doped ZnO (ZnO:Sb) thin films at 12 K. We also investigate thermal activation energy and carrier recombination lifetime for the samples. Our result reflects that the antimony doping can generate shallow acceptor states, leading to a good p-type conductivity in ZnO.

  • In this study, the transverse and the torsional vibration analyses of a precision dynamic drive system with the magnetic coupling are accomplished. The force of the magnetic coupling is regarded as an equivalent transverse stiffness, which has a nonlinearity as a function of the gap and the eccentricity between a driver and a follower. Such an equivalent stiffness is calculated by and determined by the physical law and the calculated equivalent stiffness is modelled as the truss element. The form of the torque function transmitted through the magnetic coupling is a sinusoidal and such an equivalent angular stiffness, which represents the torque between a driver and a follower, is modelled as a nonlinear spring. The main spindle connected to a follower is assumed to a rigid body. And then finally we have the nonlinear partial differential equation with respect to the angular displacements. Through the procedure mentioned above, we accomplish the results of the torsional vibration analysis in a spindle system with the magnetic coupling.

Dynamic behaviors of the bridge considering pounding and friction effects under seismic excitations

  • Dynamic responses of a bridge system with several simple spans under longitudinal seismic excitations are examined. The bridge system is modeled as the multiple oscillators and each oscillator consists of four degrees-of-freedom system to implement the poundings between the adjacent oscillators and the friction at movable supports. Pounding effects are considered by introducing the impact elements and a bi-linear model is adopted for the friction force. From the parametric studies, the pounding is found to induce complicated seismic responses and to restrain significantly the relative displacements between the adjacent units. The smaller gap size also restricts more strictly the relative displacement. It is found that the relative displacements between the abutment and adjacent pier unit became much larger than the responses between the inner pier units. Consequently, the unseating failure could take a place between the abutment and nearby pier units. It is also found that the relative displacements of an abutment unit to the adjacent pier unit are governed by the pounding at the opposite side abutment.
