This paper aims to compare the mean object size of M/G/1/PS model with that of M/BP/1 model used in the web service. The mean object size is one of important measure to control and manage web service economically. M/G/1/PS model utilizes the processor sharing in which CPU rotates in round-robin order giving time quantum to multiple tasks. M/BP/1 model uses the Bounded Pareto distribution to describe the web service according to file size. We may infer that the mean waiting latencies of M/G/1/PS and M/BP/1 model are equal to the mean waiting latency of the deterministic model using the round robin scheduling with the time quantum. Based on the inference, we can find the mean object size of M/G/1/PS model and M/BP/1 model, respectively. Numerical experiments show that when the system load is smaller than the medium, the mean object sizes of the M/G/1/PS model and the M/BP/1 model become the same. In particular, when the shaping parameter is 1.5 and the lower and upper bound of the file size is small in the M/BP/1 model, the mean object sizes of M/G/1/PS model and M/BP/1 model are the same. These results confirm that it is beneficial to use a small file size in a web service.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze G3BP1 and VEZT expression profiles in patients with gastric cancer, and examine the possible relationship between the expressions of each gene and clinicopathological factors. Materials and Methods: Expression of these genes in formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues, collected from 40 patients with gastric cancer and 40 healthy controls, was analyzed. Differences in gene expression among patient and normal samples were identified using the GraphPad Prism 5 software. For the analysis of real-time polymerase chain reaction products, GelQuantNET software was used. Results: Our findings demonstrated that both VEZT and G3BP1 mRNA expression levels were downregulated in gastric cancer samples compared with those in the normal controls. No significant relationship was found between the expression of these genes and gender (P-value, 0.4835 vs. 0.6350), but there were significant changes associated with age (P-value, 0.0004 vs. 0.0001) and stage of disease (P-value, 0.0019 vs. 0.0001). In addition, there was a direct relationship between VEZT gene expression and metastasis (P-value, 0.0462), in contrast to G3BP1 that did not demonstrate any significant correlation (P-value, 0.1833). Conclusions: The results suggest that expression profiling of VEZT and G3BP1 can be used for diagnosis of gastric cancer, and specifically, VEZT gene could be considered as a biomarker for the detection of gastric cancer progression.

Vesicles and organelles are transported along microtubule and delivered to appropriate compartments in cells. The intracellular transport process is mediated by molecular motor proteins, kinesin, and dynein. Kinesin is a plus-end-directed molecular motor protein that moves the various cargoes along microtubule tracks. Kinesin 1 is first isolated from squid axoplasm is a dimer of two heavy chains (KHCs, also called KIF5s), each of which is associated with the light chain (KLC). KIF5s interact with many different binding proteins through their carboxyl (C)-terminal tail region, but their binding proteins have yet to be specified. To identify the interacting proteins for KIF5A, we performed the yeast two-hybrid screening and found a specific interaction with Ras-GTPase-activating protein (GAP) Src homology3 (SH3)-domain-binding protein 2 (G3BP2), which is involved in stress granule formation and mRNA-protein (mRNP) localization. G3BP2 bound to the C-terminal 73 amino acids of KIF5A but did not interact with the KIF5B, nor the KIF5C in the yeast two-hybrid assay. The arginine-glycine-glycine (RGG)/Gly-rich region domain of G3BP2 is a minimal binding domain for interaction with KIF5A. However, G3BP1 did not interact with KIF5A. When co-expressed in HEK-293T cells, G3BP2 co-localized with KIF5A and was co-immunoprecipitated with KIF5A. These results indicate that G3BP2, which was originally identified as a Ras-GAP SH3 domain-binding protein, is a protein that interacts with KIF5A.

In this paper, we estimate the mean number of objects in the M/H2/1 model for web service when the mean object size in the M/H2/1 model is equal to that of the M/G/1/PS and M/BP/1 models. To this end, we use the mean object size obtained by assuming that the mean latency of deterministic model is equal to that of M/H2/1, M/G/1/PS, and M/BP/1 models, respectively. Computational experiments show that if the shape parameter of the M/BP/1 model is 1.1 and the system load is greater than 0.35, the mean number of objects in the M/H2/1 model when mean object size of M/H2/1 model is the same as that of M/G/1/PS model is almost equal to the mean number of objects in the M/H2/1 model when the mean object size of M/H2/1 model is the same as that of M/BP/1 model. In addition, as the upper limit of the M/BP/1 model increases, the number of objects in the M/H2/1 model converges to one, which increases latency. These results mean that it is efficient to use small-sized objects in the web service environment.
The genome of red pepper was investigated by thermal denaturation, reassociation kinetics and measurement of nuclear volume for its base composition, spectrum of kinetic components and genome size. Base composition was estimated to be 37% (G+C) based on melting temperature. The reassociation of 300 nt fragments analyzed by hydroxyapatite chromatography revealed the presence of three kinetic components differing in fraction of genome, kinetic complexity and number of copies as follows; 4.8% (fast) with $5.6{\times}10^{4}\;bp$ and 10,754, 26% (intermediate) with $1.9{\times}10^{6}\;bp$ and 177, and 65% (slow) with $8.48{\times}10^{8}\;bp$ and 1. These measurements demonstrate that the genome of red pepper has a 1C DNA content of $1.25{\times}10^{9}\;bp$, which is about 33% of $4.05{\times}10^{9}\;bp$ calculated from nuclear volume of $62.4\;\mu\textrm{m}^3/1C$..
Bisphenol A (BPA), 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, has been widely used as a monomer for production of epoxy resins and polycarbonate plastics, and final products of BPA include adhesives, protective coatings, paints, optical lens, building materials, compact disks and other electrical parts. Since BPA is a toxic chemical to elicit acute cell cytotoxicity and chronic endocrine disrupting activity, the degradation of BPA has been focused during last decades. To overcome the problem of photo-, and chemical-degradation of BPA, in this study, a bacterium that is able to biodegrade BPA, was isolated. The bacterium, isolated froln the soil of plastic factory, was identified as Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (strain BP-2) based on physiological and 16S rDNA sequencing analysis. A. calcoaceticus BP-2 was able to grow in the presence of $1140{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ BPA. Biodegradation experiments showed that BP-2 mineralized BPA via 4-hydroxybenzoic acid and 4-hydroxyacetophenone, and average degradation rate was $53.3{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}\;day^{-1}$ under optimal conditions (pH 7 and $30^{\circ}C$). In high density resting cell $(3.5g-dcw.1^{-1})$ experiments, the maximal degradation rate was increased to $89.7{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}\;h^{-1}$. Our results suggest that BP-2 has high potential as a catalyst for practical BPA bioremediation.

FcBP consisting of 13 amino acids specifically binds to Immunoglobulin G Fc domain. Initially, we utilized this peptide for preparation of antibody chip as a PEG composite for enhanced solubility. After then, the peptide conjugate was immobilized on agarose resin, resulting in highly efficient affinity column for antibody purification. The efficiency was comparable to commercial Protein A column. Recently, this peptide was conjugated with cell penetrating peptide (CPP) on a backbone of GFP, affording antibody transducer, which carries antibody into live cells by simple mixing of antibody and the transducer in cell culture media. Antibody transduction into cells was monitored by live cell imaging. More recently, the FcBP was fused to ferritin cage, which consists of 24 ferritin protein molecules. The FcBP-ferritin cage showed greatly increased binding affinity to human IgG. Its binding was analyzed by QCM and SPR analysis. Finally, it was selectively delivered by Herceptin to SKBR3, a breast cancer cell, over MCF10A, non-tumorigenic cells (Fig. 1). Fig. 1. Fluorescent microscopic images of SKBR3 breast cancer cells (A~C) and MCF10A breast cells (D~F) treated with Cy3-trastuzumab/fFcBP-Pf_Fn complexes. Trastuzumab and FcBP-Pf_Fn, which were labeled with Cy3 (Cy3-trastuzumab) and fluorescein (fFcBP-Pf_Fn), respectively, selectively targeted SKBR3 over MCF10A.

This study was conducted to improve the packaging technology used for Gangjung and the product's quality characteristics during storage. Packaging materials consisting of (1) IP: OPP (oriented polypropylene)/PE (polyethylene) + Paper, (2) LP1: OPP/PE + Paper, (3) LP2: OPP/PE + Can, (4) LP3: OPP/PE + Plastic, (5) BP1: OPP/PE, (6) BP2: OPP/DL/CPP (cast polypropylene), (7) BP3: PET/PE/CPP, and (8) BP4: OPP/PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride)/PE/CPP were used. The major fatty acids including 54.2% linoleic acid, 24.1% oleic acid, 11.2% palmitic acid and 6.0% linoleic acid were assessed. The packages effective in maintaining moisture were in the order of LP2, BP4 > IP > LP3, BP1, BP2 > LP1 > BP3. There were no significant differences in water content and the products in IP, BP3, and BP showed the highest level in the increase in hardness on day 60 of storage. Acid values of IP, LP1, LP2, LP3, BP1, and BP2 were maintained at <2.0 during 40 days of storage. IP, LP1, LP2 and BP1.
The ${\alpha}_{s1}$-and ${\beta}$-casein were purified by DEAE-cellulose chromatography and digested with alkaline protease from Bacillus subtilis. Bitter fractions from the hydrolyzates were isolated using n-butanol extraction, Sephadex G-25 gel chromatography, and high performance liquid chromatography. Peptide mixtures were separated by reverse-phase octadecyl silica column with linear gradient of 0-80% acetonitrile containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid. Major peaks were combined from replicate chromatographies and the bitterness of each peak was evaluated. The bitter-tasting peaks were rechromatograpied until isolated peaks were obtained. Three different bitter peptides(BP-I, BP-II, BP-III) were obtained from the ${\alpha}_{s1}$-casein hydrolyzate. BP-I was eluted at 34% acetonitrile and BP-II, 35%, BP-III, 26%, respectively. Two bitter peptides(BP-IV, BP-V) were isolated from the ${\beta}-casein$ hydrolyzate: BP-IV was eluted at 40% acetonitrile and BP-V, 42%. BP-V was the most hydrophobic peptide in the five bitter peptides. However, BP-I and BP-II tasted more bitter than BP-IV and BP-V.
This study was conducted to investigate the genotypes and frequencies of Melanocortin 1 Receptor(MC1R) genes in pigs which plays a central role in regulation of eumelanin (black/brown) and phaeomelanin(red/yellow) pigment synthesis within the mammalian melanocytes. Four different breeds of pigs(20 Landrace, 20 Yorkshire, 20 Duroc, and 93 Jeju native black pigs) were used and PCR-RFLP analysis of MC1R gene was also carried out. Two regions of MC1R genes (428bp and 405bp) were amplified using two specific primers (MERL1-EPIG2, EPIG1-EPIG3), respectively and MC1R allele were determined using 2 restriction enzymes (BspHⅠ, AccⅡ). The results of this experiment indicated that MC1R allelic type in Landrace, Large Yorkshire and Duroc were MC1R *2 (Ep), MC1R *2 (Ep), MC1R *4 (e), respectively. However, various allelic types of MC1R genes were detected in Jeju native black pigs. MC1R allelic type of Jeju black pigs was MC1R*2 type as in Meishan and Large black breeds or MC1R*3 type as in Hampshire and Berkshire breeds and the gene frequencies of ED1 and ED2 were 0.554 and 0.446 in average.
