  • This study concerns the existence of positive solution for the following nonlinear system $$\{-div(|x|^{-ap}|{\nabla}u|^{p-2}{\nabla}u)=|x|^{-(a+1)p+c_1}({\alpha}_1f(v)+{\beta}_1h(u)),x{\in}{\Omega},\\-div(|x|^{-bq}|{\nabla}v|q^{-2}{\nabla}v)=|x|^{-(b+1)q+c_2}({\alpha}_2g(u)+{\beta}_2k(v)),x{\in}{\Omega},\\u=v=0,x{\in}{\partial}{\Omega}$$, where ${\Omega}$ is a bounded smooth domain of $\mathbb{R}^N$ with $0{\in}{\Omega}$, 1 < $p,q$ < N, $0{{\leq}}a<\frac{N-p}{p}$, $0{{\leq}}b<\frac{N-q}{q}$ and $c_1$, $c_2$, ${\alpha}_1$, ${\alpha}_2$, ${\beta}_1$, ${\beta}_2$ are positive parameters. Here $f,g,h,k$ : $[0,{\infty}){\rightarrow}[0,{\infty})$ are nondecresing continuous functions and $$\lim_{s{\rightarrow}{\infty}}\frac{f(Ag(s)^{\frac{1}{q-1}})}{s^{p-1}}=0$$ for every A > 0. We discuss the existence of positive solution when $f,g,h$ and $k$ satisfy certain additional conditions. We use the method of sub-super solutions to establish our results.

A Study on Evaluation of LED Lighting Environments for Energy Saving and Work Effectiveness (에너지 저감과 업무 효율성을 위한 LED 조명환경 평가에 대한 연구)

  • This study carried out an experiment to identify subject's work effectiveness and energy saving effect using LED light. Towards this end, this study configured nine various lighting environments in order to control PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and illuminance (lux), which are the characteristics of LED light. The PWM ratio of LED light was set as R:G:B=1:1:1, R:G:B=4:1:5, and R:G:B=8:7:7, respectively, and illuminance (lux) was set as 400 lx, 700 lx, and 1000 lx, respectively. In addition, the indoor environment was set temperature $20-24^{\circ}C$, humidity 50%-60%, and the amount of clothing 1. This study analyzed work effectiveness and energy consumption in nine lighting environments, each. Error correction was performed for work effectiveness analysis, and cumulative power consumption was measured in each lighting environment for energy consumption analysis. According to experiment results through the lighting environments suggested in this study, accuracy and spent time effectiveness were good in 700lux and higher than 400lux. For spent time, the best effectiveness was revealed in the suggested PWM ratio, R:G:B=8:7:7. The lowest power consumption on each illuminance (lux) was revealed in the order of R:G:B=8:7:7, RGB=1:1:1, and R:G:B=4:1:5. Therefore, pulse-width modulation effect is proposed in this paper was found to affect the efficiency and energy saving.

The Effects of PAC (Powdered Activated Carbon) on Water Treatment Performance of an Immersed Membrane System Using Flat-sheet Membrane Module (평막을 이용한 침지형 막여과시스템에서 고농도 분말활성탄 주입에 의한 수처리성능 개선 효과)

  • A submerged flat-sheet membrane separation system integrated with PAC (powdered activated carbon) was used in this research in order to investigate the effects of PAC on the efficiencies of operation and treatment and to evaluate the performance of the system. The experiments were carried out under operating conditions of a filtration rate of 0.38 m/d, water temperature of $20-28^{\circ}C$, and PAC dose of 0 g/L (Run-A) and 20 g/L (Run-B). The influent concentrations of TOC (total organic carbon), $NH_4{^+}-N$ (ammonia nitrogen) and $UV_{254}$ (UV absorbance at 254 nm) were 2.48 mg/L, 1.4 mg/L and 2.53 1/m, respectively. TOC removal of 43.2 and 73.6%, ammonia nitrogen removal of 4.9 and 15.9%, and $UV_{254}$ removal of 20.6 and 31.6% were obtained for Run-A and Run-B, respectively. During an experimental period of 33 days, no change was found in TMP (Run-B), but the TMP in Run-A increased by 5 kPa after 29 days. This research showed that the filtrate quality and the performance efficiency were enhanced when PAC was introduced into the filtration system.

Estimating the Spatial Distribution of Rumex acetosella L. on Hill Pasture using UAV Monitoring System and Digital Camera (무인기와 디지털카메라를 이용한 산지초지에서의 애기수영 분포도 제작)

  • Red sorrel (Rumex acetosella L.), as one of exotic weeds in Korea, was dominated in grassland and reduced the quality of forage. Improving current pasture productivity by precision management requires practical tools to collect site-specific pasture weed data. Recent development in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology has offered cost effective and real time applications for site-specific data collection. To map red sorrel on a hill pasture, we tested the potential use of an UAV system with digital cameras (visible and near-infrared (NIR) camera). Field measurements were conducted on grazing hill pasture at Hanwoo Improvement Office, Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do Province, Korea on May 17, 2014. Plant samples were obtained at 20 sites. An UAV system was used to obtain aerial photos from a height of approximately 50 m (approximately 30 cm spatial resolution). Normalized digital number values of Red, Green, Blue, and NIR channels were extracted from aerial photos. Multiple linear regression analysis results showed that the correlation coefficient between Rumex content and 4 bands of UAV image was 0.96 with root mean square error of 9.3. Therefore, UAV monitoring system can be a quick and cost effective tool to obtain spatial distribution of red sorrel data for precision management of hilly grazing pasture.

Immunization with a Genetically Engineered Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Adhesin-Escherichia coli Enterotoxin Subunit A2B Chimeric Protein

  • The generation of secretory IgA antibodies (Abs) for specific immune protection of mucosal surfaces depends on stimulation of the mucosal immune system, but this is not effectively achieved by parenteral or even oral administration of most soluble antigens. Thus, to produce a possible vaccine antigen against urinary tract infections, the uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) adhesin was genetically coupled to the heat-labile Escherichia coli enterotoxin A2B (ltxa2b) gene and cloned into a pMAL-p2E expression vector. The chimeric construction of pMALfimH/ltxa2b was then transformed into E. coli K-12 TB1 and its nucleotide sequence was verified. The chimeric protein was then purified by applying the affinity chromatography. The purified chimeric protein was confirmed by SDS-PAGE and westem blotting using antibodies to the maltose binding protein (MBP) or the heat labile E. coli subunit B (LTXB), plus the N-terminal amino acid sequence was analyzedd. The orderly-assembled chimeric protein was confirmed by a modified $G_{M1}$-ganglioside ELISA using antibodies to adhesin. The results indicate that the purified chimeric protein was an Adhesin/LTXA2B protein containing UPEC adhesin and the $G_{M1}$-ganglioside binding activity of LTXB. thisstudy also demonstrate that peroral administration of this chimeric immunogen in mice elicited high level of secretory IgA (sIgA) and serum IgG Abs to the UPEC adhesin. The results suggest that the genetically linked LTXA2B acts as a useful mucosal adjuvant, and that adhesin/LTXA2A chimeric protein might be a potential antigen for oral immunization against UPEC.

  • This paper presents a dual-band mixer for multi-standards of IEEE 802.1la/b/g using a single local oscillator, so as to improve the defects of legacy systems. Those systems have duplicate local oscillators and mixers to handle dual band signals, increasing complexity of system and power loss. The proposed circuit shows 11.6 dB, 16.8 dB of conversion loss and 8.77 dBm, 12.5 dBm of IIP3(Input 3rd Intercept Point) for respective bands when the two RF inputs of 2.452 and 5.260 GHz are down-converted to the identical 356 MHz If frequency. The RF-LO isolations are measured 36 dB, 41 dB at each frequencies and over 50 dB of LO-IF isolations are achieved at all cases.

Structural and Molecular Orbital Properties of Some Boroxine Derivatives-A Theoretical Study

  • In the present study, firstly, the variations of the geometric parameters induced by different substituents on boroxine skeleton (symmetrically H, $CH_3$, Cl, F, $NO_2$ substituted boroxines) are investigated by using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p), RHF/6-31G(d,p), and MP2/6-31G(d,p) levels of the theory. The second objective is to estimate the substituent effect on the molecular aromaticity of boroxine derivatives using energetic and NICS criteria. Moreover, the effects of different theoretical levels on NICS values have been investigated in a systematic approach. Lastly, a rotational analysis has been performed to investigate the effect of rotation around the B-Me and B-$NO_2$ bonds on total energy of the system. It has been found that electron withdrawing substituents contribute the aromaticity of boroxine affirmatively. Conversely, electron donors make the system less aromatic. Also, the theoretical vibrational spectra for these boroxine derivatives are presented and compared with the experimental data from the literature.

  • The in situ target strength for the anchovy (Engraulis japonica) were measured by the split beam echo sounder system at 38 kHz. This study allowed us to detect the single echos from anchovy shoals which were dispersed during trawling operation in day time. The results of our study were as fellows: We found that the anchouy occupied about $95\%$ of the total catch from the detected shoals from which target strength data were collected. Length distribution of anchovy showed a mode and ranged from 13.6 to 15.4cm with a mean of 14.4cm and a standard deviation of 0.45cm, and weight distribution showed a mode and ranged from 16 to 28 g witha mean of 21.9 g and a standard deviation of 2.7 g. The target strength distribution of anchovy ranged from -40.7 dB to -69.2 dB in the water layer of ,$10\~30\;m$ -42.19 to -67.7 dB in the $30\~50\;m$ and -42.2 to -67.7 dB in $10\~50\;m$, showing 2 modes in each layer, respectively. Overall mean target strengths were -49.7 dB/fish and -33.1 dB/kg, averaged by area backscattering cross section $(\sigma)$, and the confidence interval for target strength was less than 1 dB. With the mean total length and the mean target strength, we drived the target strength-length relationship as $TS(\sigma)=20\;Log\;L-72.9$.

A Dual-Band Through-the-Wall Imaging Radar Receiver Using a Reconfigurable High-Pass Filter

  • A dual-band through-the-wall imaging radar receiver for a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar system was designed and fabricated. The operating frequency bands of the receiver are S-band (2-4 GHz) and X-band (8-12 GHz). If the target is behind a wall, wall-reflected waves are rejected by a reconfigurable $G_m-C$ high-pass filter. The filter is designed using a high-order admittance synthesis method, and consists of transconductor circuits and capacitors. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned by changing the reference current. The receiver system is fabricated on a printed circuit board using commercial devices. Measurements show 44.3 dB gain and 3.7 dB noise figure for the S-band input, and 58 dB gain and 3.02 dB noise figure for the X-band input. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned from 0.7 MHz to 2.4 MHz.

  • The nucleoside analogue, L-FMAUS was synthesized from L-FMAU which has been shown to have significant antiviral acitivity against hepatitis B virus (HBV). The anti-HBV activity and toxicity of the L-FMAUS were examined by a cell culture system using a hepatitis B virus (HBV) producing cell line, HepG2 2.2.15. L-FMAUS was assayed for the inhibition of HBV multiplication by measurement of HBV DNA and surface antigen (HBsAg) levels in the extracellular medium of HepG2 2.2.15 cells after an 8-day treatment.
