A study on bio-signal process for prosthesis arm control (인공의수의 능동 제어를 위한 생체 신호 처리에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, an algorithm to classify the 4 motions of arm and a control system to position control the prosthesis are studied. To classify the 4 motions, we use flex sensors which is electrical resistance type sensor that can measure warp of muscle. The flex sensors are attached to the biceps brchii muscle and coracobrachialis muscle and the sensor signals are passed the sensing system. 4 motion of the forearm - flexion and extension, the pronation and supination are classified from this. Also position of forearm is measured from the classified signals. Finally, A two D.O.F prosthesis arm with RC servo-motor is designed to verify the validity of the algorithm. At this time, fuzzy controller is used to reduce the position error by rotary inertia and noise. From the experiment, the position error had occurred within about 5 degree.

Control of an Artificial Arm using Flex Sensor Signal (굽힘 센서신호를 이용한 인공의수의 제어)

  • In this paper, a muscle motion sensing system and an artificial arm control system are studied. The artificial arm is for the people who lost one's forearm. The muscle motion sensing system detect the intention of motion from the upper arm's muscle. In sensing system we use flex sensors which is electrical resistance type sensor. The sensor is attached on the biceps brachii muscle and coracobrachialis muscle of the upper arm. We propose an algorithm to classify the one's intention of motions from the sensor signal. Using this algorithm, we extract the 4 motions which are flexion and extension of the forearm, pronation and supination of the arm. To verify the validity of the proposed algorithms we made experiments with two d.o.f. artificial arm. To reduce the control errors of the artificial arm we also proposed a fuzzy PID control algorithm which based on the errors and error rate.

  • Global environmental concerns and the ever increasing need of energy, coupled with steady progress in renewable energy technologies, are opening up new opportunities for utilization of renewable energy resources. Distributed electricity generation is a suitable option for sustainable development thanks to the load management benefits and the opportunity to provide electricity to remote areas. Solar energy being easy to harness, non-polluting and never ending is one of the best renewable energy sources for electricity generation in present and future time. Due to the random and intermittent nature of solar source, PV plants require the adoption of an energy storage and management system to compensate fluctuations and to meet the energy demand during night hours. This paper presents an efficient, economic and technical model for the design of a MPPT based grid connected PV with battery storage and management system. This system satisfies the energy demand through the PV based battery energy storage system. The aim is to present PV-BES system design and management strategy to maximize the system performance and economic profitability. PV-BES (photovoltaic based battery energy storage) system is operated in different modes to verify the system feasibility. In case of excess energy (mode 1), Li-ion batteries are charged using CC-CV mechanism effectively controlled by fuzzy logic based PID control system whereas during the time of insufficient power from PV system (mode 2), batteries are used as backup to compensate the power shortage at load and likewise other modes for different scenarios. This operational mode change in PV-BES system is implemented by State flow chart technique based on SOC, DC bus voltages and solar Irradiance. Performance of the proposed PV-BES system is verified by some simulations study. Simulation results showed that proposed system can overcome the disturbance of external environmental changes, and controls the energy flow in efficient and economical way.

  • 선박 운항 자동화 시스템은 선내 노동력 감소, 작업 환경 개선, 운항 안전성 확보 및 운항 능률의 향상을 목표로 하며, 궁극적으로는 운항 경제성확보를 위한 승선 인원의 최소화에 그 목적이 있다. 최근에는 적응 제어방법 등을 응용하여 선박의 비선형성을 보상하여 선박의 회두각 유지제어(Course Keeping Control), 항로 추적제어(Track Keeping Control), 롤-타각제어(Roll-Rudder Stabilization), 선박 위치제어(Dynamic Ship Positioning), 선박자동 접이안(Automatic Mooring Control) 등에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있으며 실제의 선박으로 대상으로 응용연구가 진행 중이다. 선박은 Steering Machine에 의해 조정되는 Rudder angle과 선박의 회두각의 관계는 비선형적이며, 선박의 Load Condition은 선박의 Parameter에 영향을 주는 비선형적인 요소로서 작용한다. 또한 외란요소인 파도의 유속(流速)과 방향, 풍속과 풍량 등이 비선형적인 형태로 작용하므로 선박의 운항을 힘들게 하는 요인이 된다. 따라서 선박의 운항시스템에는 비선형성을 극복할 수 있는 강인한 제어 알고리즘을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 퍼지 알고리즘을 이용하여 선박의 비선형적인 요인 및 외란을 극복할 수 있는 선박의 자율운항 시스템을 설계하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 그 결과를 살펴보았다.

Design, Implementation and Navigation Test of Manta-type Unmanned Underwater Vehicle

  • This paper describes the mathematical modeling, control algorithm, system design, hardware implementation and experimental test of a Manta-type Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (MUUV). The vehicle has one thruster for longitudinal propulsion, one rudder for heading angle control and two elevators for depth control. It is equipped with a pressure sensor for measuring water depth and Doppler Velocity Log for measuring position and angle. The vehicle is controlled by an on-board PC, which runs with the Windows XP operating system. The dynamic model of 6DOF is derived including the hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the vehicle, while the hydrodynamic coefficients related to the forces and moments are obtained from experiments or estimated numerically. We also utilized the values obtained from PMM (Planar Motion Mechanism) tests found in the previous publications for numerical simulations. Various controllers such as PID, Sliding mode, Fuzzy and $H{\infty}$ are designed for depth and heading angle control in order to compare the performance of each controller based on simulation. In addition, experimental tests are carried out in a towing tank for depth keeping and heading angle tracking.

  • In this paper, we designed add current scan system basically. Although NDT system using AC method in now days had problem with limit of detection rate and limit of device organization, in this paper, we made up these problem so that designed device smaller than system used, reduction of cost of system organization and precision of measuring crack. Also, AC leakage flux system had high accuracy about minute crack in the surface and advantage of designing system easily so that we designed system for concerning about crack of surface. Furthermore, it can be able to detect exact crack of reference in wide area by using DSP320C31 chip to reduce the time of measuring crack.

  • In this paper, a 3-D simulator was developed to estimate visually the performance of propelling and integrated control system of the underwater cleaning robot. Based on the dynamics analysis of the UCR, the 3-D model of the UCR was used in the simulator in which position and velocity are included Also, an input and control system using a joystick was developed, and the simulator was applied to the input and control of the simulator. Moreover, an integrated navigation control system was designed, and its performance was validated by a way-point simulator including a PI-based fuzzy control law.

  • This paper is concerned with the control of multiple nonlinearities included in a humanoid robot system. A humanoid robot has some problems such as the structural instability, which leads to consider the control of multiple nonlinearities caused by driver parts as well as gear reducer. Saturation and backlash are typical examples of nonlinearities in the system. The conventional algorithms of backlash control were fuzzy algorithm, disturbance observer and neural network, etc. However, it is not easy to control the system by employing only single algorithm since the system usually includes multiple nonlinearities. In this paper, a switching Pill is considered for a control of saturation and a dual feedback algorithm is proposed for a backlash control. To implement the above algorithms, the system identification is firstly performed for the minimization of the difference between the results of simulation and experiment, and then the switching Pill gains are determined using genetic algorithm with some heuristic approach. The performance of the switching Pill controller for saturation and the dual feedback for backlash control is investigated through the simulation. Finally, it is shown that the implemented control system has good results and can be applied to the real humanoid robot system ISHURO.
