This paper aims to present a supervised classification algorithm based on data fusion for the segmentation of the textured images. The feature extraction method we used is based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT). In the segmentation stage, the estimated feature vector of each pixel is sent to the support vector machine (SVM) classifier for initial labeling. To obtain a more accurate segmentation result, two strategies based on information fusion were used. We first integrated decision-level fusion strategies by combining decisions made by the SVM classifier within a sliding window. In the second strategy, the fuzzy set theory and rules based on probability theory were used to combine the scores obtained by SVM over a sliding window. Finally, the performance of the proposed segmentation algorithm was demonstrated on a variety of synthetic and real images and showed that the proposed data fusion method improved the classification accuracy compared to applying a SVM classifier. The results revealed that the overall accuracies of SVM classification of textured images is 88%, while our fusion methodology obtained an accuracy of up to 96%, depending on the size of the data base.
It is complicate and time-consuming process to classify a multi-band satellite imagery according to the application. In addition, classification rate sensitively depends on the selection of training data set and features in a supervised classification process. This paper introduced a classification network adopting a fuzzy-based $\gamma$-model in order to select a training data set and to extract feature which highly contribute to an actual classification. The features used in the classification were gray-level histogram, textures, and NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) of target imagery. Moreover, in order to minimize the errors in the classification network, the Gradient Descent method was used in the training process for the $\gamma$-parameters at each code used. The trained parameters made it possible to know the connectivity of each node and to delete the void features from all the possible input features.
This paper proposes a GA and GDM-based method for removing unnecessary rules and generating relevant rules from the fuzzy rules corresponding to several fuzzy partitions. The aim of proposed method is to find a minimum set of fuzzy rules that can correctly classify all the training patterns. When the fine fuzzy partition is used with conventional methods, the number of fuzzy rules has been enormous and the performance of fuzzy inference system became low. This paper presents the application of GA as a means of finding optimal solutions over fuzzy partitions. In each rule, the antecedent part is made up the membership functions of a fuzzy set, and the consequent part is made up of a real number. The membership functions and the number of fuzzy inference rules are tuned by means of the GA, while the real numbers in the consequent parts of the rules are tuned by means of the gradient descent method. It is shown that the proposed method has improved than the performance of conventional method in formulating and solving a combinatorial optimization problem that has two objectives: to maximize the number of correctly classified patterns and to minimize the number of fuzzy rules.

This paper present a conceptual possibilistic approach using fuzzy set theory to manage the uncertainties in the given reliability input date of the practical power system. In this paper, an algorithm is introduced to calculate the possibilstic reliability indices according to the degree of uncertainty in the given data. The probability distribution function can be transformed into an appropriate possibilstic representation using the probability-Possibility Consistency principle(PPCP) algorithm. In this the algorithm, the transformation is performation by making a compromise between the transformation consistency and the human updating experience. Fuzzy classifcation theory is applied to reduced the number of load data. The fuzzy classification method determines the closeness of load data points by assigning them to various clusters and then determening the distance between the clusters. The IEEE-RTS with 32-generating units is used to demonstrate the capability of the proposed algorithm.
Fault detection and isolation are related to system monitoring, identifying when a fault has occurred, and determining the type of fault and its location. Fault detection is utilized to determine whether a problem has occurred within a certain channel or area of operation. Fault detection and diagnosis have become increasingly important for many technical processes in the development of safe and efficient advanced systems for supervision. This paper presents an integrated technique for fault diagnosis and classification for open- and short-circuit faults in three-phase inverter circuits. Discrete wavelet transform and principal component analysis are utilized to detect the discontinuity in currents caused by a fault. The features of fault diagnosis are then extracted. A fault dictionary is used to acquire details about transistor faults and the corresponding fault identification. Fault classification is performed with a fuzzy logic system and relevance vector machine (RVM). The proposed model is incorporated with a set of optimization techniques, namely, evolutionary particle swarm optimization (EPSO) and cuckoo search optimization (CSO), to improve fault detection. The combination of optimization techniques with classification techniques is analyzed. Experimental results confirm that the combination of CSO with RVM yields better results than the combinations of CSO with fuzzy logic system, EPSO with RVM, and EPSO with fuzzy logic system.
In this paper, we investigate the use of fuzzy rules for efficient intrusion detection. We use evolutionary algorithm to optimize the set of fuzzy rules for intrusion detection by constructing fuzzy decision trees. For efficient execution of evolutionary algorithm we use supervised clustering to generate an initial set of membership functions for fuzzy rules. In our method both performance and complexity of fuzzy rules (or fuzzy decision trees) are taken into account in fitness evaluation. We also use evaluation with data partition, membership degree caching and zero-pruning to reduce time for construction and evaluation of fuzzy decision trees. For performance evaluation, we experimented with our method over the intrusion detection data of KDD'99 Cup, and confirmed that our method outperformed the existing methods. Compared with the KDD'99 Cup winner, the accuracy was increased by 1.54% while the cost was reduced by 20.8%.
Feature selection is the technique to improve the classification performance by using a minimal set by removing features that are not related with each other and characterized by redundancy. This study proposed new feature selection using the distance between the center of gravity of the bounded sum of weighted fuzzy membership functions (BSWFMs) provided by the neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions (NEWFM) in order to improve the classification performance. The distance-based feature selection selects the minimum features by removing the worst features with the shortest distance between the center of gravity of BSWFMs from the 24 initial features one by one, and then 22 minimum features are selected with the highest performance result. The proposed methodology shows that sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy are 97.7%, 99.7%, and 98.7% with 22 minimum features, respectively.
This paper proposed a method that can be simply analyzed instead of the basic general Fuzzy rule that its insufficient characters are cut out. Based on the proposed method. Rough sets are used to eliminate the incomplete attributes included in the rule and also for a classification more precise; the agreement of the membership function's output extracted the maximum attributes. Besides, the proposed method in the simulation shows that in order to verify the validity, compare the max-product result of fuzzy before and after reducing rule hosed on the rice taste data; then, we can see that both the max-product result of fuzzy before and after reducing rule are exactly the same; for a verification more objective, we compared the defuzzificated real number section.

A Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system employs visual features rather than manual annotation of images. The selection of optimal features used in classification of images plays a key role in its performance. Category proliferation problem has a huge impact on performance of systems using Fuzzy Artmap (FAM) classifier. The proposed CBIR system uses a modified version of FAM called Non-Proliferation Fuzzy Artmap (NPFAM). This is developed by introducing significant changes in the learning process and the modified algorithm is evaluated by extensive experiments. Results have proved that NPFAM classifier generates a more compact rule set and performs better than FAM classifier. Accordingly, the CBIR system with NPFAM classifier yields good retrieval.

To construct user profiles automatically, an extraction method for representative keywords from a set of documents is needed. In our previous works, we suggested such a method and showed its usefulness. Here, we apply it to the classification problem and observe how much it contributes to performance improvement. The method can be used as a linear document classifier with few modifications. So, we first evaluate its performance for that case. The method is also applicable to some non-linear classification methods such as GIS (Generalized Instance Set). In GIS algorithm, generalized instances are built from training documents by a generalization function and then the K-NN algorithm is applied to them, where the method can be used as a generalization function. For comparative works, two famous linear classification methods, Rocchio and Widrow-Hoff algorithms, are also used. Experimental results show that our method is better than the others for the case that only positive documents are considered, but not when negative documents are considered together.
