On the Evaluation of Physical Distribution Service in Ports (항만물류서비스의 평가에 관하여)

  • It is required to consider pricing and non-pricing factors and external economy in order to achieve the objects of physical distribution system in a port. Recently, among the three factors, much attention has been paid to non-pricing factor in the system. Although physical distribution service in a port(PDSP)has been frequently mentioned in documents and literature related to port and shipping studies, few study on it has not been systematically and scientifically made due to the following problems; $\circ$ there are not proper criteria to evaluate level and quality of PDSP and as a result it is difficult to set up a unified standard for doing so. $\circ$ algorithms to evaluate problems with complex and ambiguous attributes and multiple levels in PDSP are not available. This thesis aims to establish a paradigm to evaluate PDSP and to abvance existing decision making methods to deal with complex and ambiguous problems in PDSP. To tackle the first purpose, extensive and thorough literature survey was carried out on general physical distribution service, which is a corner stone to handle PDSp. In addition, through interviews and questionnaire to the expert, it have extracted 82 factors of physical distribution service in a port. They have been classified into 6 groups by KJ method and each group defined by the expert's advice as follows; a. Potentiality b. Exactness c. safety d. Speediness e. Convenience f. Linkage Prior to the service evaluation, many kinds of its attributes must be identified on the basis of rational decision owing to complexity and ambiguity inherent in PDSP. An analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is a method to evaluate them but it is not applicable to PDSP that have property of non-additivity and overlapped attributes. Therefore, probablility measure can not be used to evaluate PDSP but fuzzy measure is required. Hierarchical fuzzy integral method, which is merged AHP with fuzzy measure, is also not effective method to evaluate attributes because it has vary complicated way to calculate fuzzy measure identification coefficient of attributes. A new evaluation algorithm has been introduced to solve problems with multi-attribute and multi-level hierarchy, which is called hierarchy fuzzy process(HFP).Analysis on ambiguous aspects of PDSP under study which is not easy to be defined is prerequisite to evaluate it. HFP is different from algorithm existed in that it clarified the relationship between fuzzy measure and probability measure adopted in AHP and that it directly calculates the family of fuzzy measure from overlapping coefficient and probability measure to treat and evaluate ambiguous and complex aspects of PDSP. A new evaluation algorithm HFP was applied to evaluate level of physical distribution service in the biggest twenty container port in the world. The ranks of the ports are as follows; 1.   • In this paper, we propose a system that recommends the appropriate menu using the fuzzy rules and the case database. The rules are defined by using the user's body information such as height and weight and these information is often vague. Due to its fuzziness, we use the fuzzy logic to represent the information. In our system, it firstly gets the body information for computing the BMI (Body Mass Index) values. Then it combines the muscle mass factor and BMI values to make a fuzzification for calculating the obesity rate. It finally recommends the most relative menu by comparing with the user's obesity rate from each cases in the database. We implement the system on the Android platform and show that our proposed method can achieve reasonable performance through the various experiments,

  • It really needs fuzzy decision making of integrity assessment considering about both durability and load carrying capacity for maintenance and administration, such as repairing and reinforcing. This thesis shows efficient models about reinforced concrete structure using CART-ANFIS. It compares and analyzes decision trees parts of expert system, using the theory of fuzzy, and applying damage & diagnosis at reinforced concrete structure and decision trees of integrity assessment using established artificial neural. Decided the theory of reinforcement design for recovery of durability at damaged concrete & the theory of reinforcement design for increasing load carrying capacity keep stability of damage and detection. It is more efficient maintenance and administration at reinforced concrete for using integrity assessment model of this study and can carry out predicting cost of life cycle.

A Weighted Fuzzy Min-Max Neural Network for Pattern Classification (패턴 분류 문제에서 가중치를 고려한 퍼지 최대-최소 신경망)

  • In this study, a weighted fuzzy min-max (WFMM) neural network model for pattern classification is proposed. The model has a modified structure of FMM neural network in which the weight concept is added to represent the frequency factor of feature values in a learning data set. First we present in this paper a new activation function of the network which is defined as a hyperbox membership function. Then we introduce a new learning algorithm for the model that consists of three kinds of processes: hyperbox creation/expansion, hyperbox overlap test, and hyperbox contraction. A weight adaptation rule considering the frequency factors is defined for the learning process. Finally we describe a feature analysis technique using the proposed model. Four kinds of relevance factors among feature values, feature types, hyperboxes and patterns classes are proposed to analyze relative importance of each feature in a given problem. Two types of practical applications, Fisher's Iris data and Cleveland medical data, have been used for the experiments. Through the experimental results, the effectiveness of the proposed method is discussed.

  • The international cancer research institute under the WHO designated fine dust as a first-class carcinogen. Particular matter refers to dust that is small enough to be invisible and floating in the air. Particular matter is mainly emitted from the combustion process of fossil fuels such as coal and oil, and is a risk factor that can cause lung disease, pneumonia, and heart disease. The Ministry of Environment recently analyzed the output data of 10 fine dust measuring stations and, as a result, announced that about 60% had an error that the existing atmospheric measurement concentration was higher. In order to accurately predict fine dust, the wind direction and measurement position must be corrected. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, fuzzy rules are used to solve these problems. In addition, in order to calculate the fine particulate sensation index actually felt by pedestrians on the street, a computer simulation experiment was conducted to calculate the fine particulate sensation index in consideration of weather conditions, temperature conditions, humidity conditions, and wind conditions.

Prediction of curvature ductility factor for FRP strengthened RHSC beams using ANFIS and regression models

  • Nowadays, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are widely used for rehabilitation, repair and strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Also, recent advances in concrete technology have led to the production of high strength concrete, HSC. Such concrete due to its very high compression strength is less ductile; so in seismic areas, ductility is an important factor in design of HSC members (especially FRP strengthened members) under flexure. In this study, the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and multiple regression analysis are used to predict the curvature ductility factor of FRP strengthened reinforced HSC (RHSC) beams. Also, the effects of concrete strength, steel reinforcement ratio and externally reinforcement (FRP) stiffness on the complete moment-curvature behavior and the curvature ductility factor of the FRP strengthened RHSC beams are evaluated using the analytical approach. Results indicate that the predictions of ANFIS and multiple regression models for the curvature ductility factor are accurate to within -0.22% and 1.87% error for practical applications respectively. Finally, the effects of height to wide ratio (h/b) of the cross section on the proposed models are investigated.

Multimodal Route Selection from Korea to Europe Using Fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS Approaches: The Perspective of the China-Railway Express (한-유럽 복합운송 경로선택에 관한 연구 중국-유럽 화물열차를 중심으로)

  • Since the signing of the Korea-Europe Free Trade Agreement, the volume of trade transactions between South Korea and Europe has increased. The traditional single-mode transport system has been transformed into an intermodal transport system using two or more modes of transport. In addition, the conventional sea and air transport routes have been restricted, leading to a decline in Korean exports to Europe, and the rail transport mode is becoming mainstream in the market due to the influence of COVID-19. This paper focuses on the China-Railway Express to explore a new intermodal transport route from Korea to Europe. First, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to evaluate the factor weights when selecting intermodal transport routes from Korea to Europe. Then, the TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method is used to rank three alternatives. The results show that among the four factors (total cost, total time, transportation capability, and service reliability), the total cost is the most significant factor, followed by the total time, service reliability, and transportation capability. Furthermore, the alternative route 1 (Incheon-Dalian-Manchuria-Hamburg) is preferred.

Structure Analysis of Ship′s Collision Causes using Fuzzy Structural Modeling (퍼지구조모델을 이용한 선박충돌사고 원인의 구조분석)

  • The prevention of marine accidents has been a important topic in marine society for long time, and various safety policies and countermeasures have been developed and applied to prevent those accidents. In spite of these efforts, however, significant marine accidents have taken place intermittently. Ship is being operated under a highly dynamic environments, and many factors are related with ship's collision, whose factors are interacting. So, the analysis on ship's collision causes are very important to prepare countermeasures which will ensure the safe navigation. This study analysed the ship's collision data over the past 10 years(1991-2000), which is compiled by Korea Marine Accidents Inquiry Agency. The analysis confirmed that‘ship's collision’is occurred most frequently and the cause is closely related with human factor. The main purpose of this study is to analyse human factor. For this, the structure of human factor is analysed by the questionnaire methodology. Marine experts were surveyed based on major elements that were extracted from the human factor affecting to ship's collision. FSM has been widely adopted in modeling a dynamic system which is composed of human factors. Then, the structure analysis on the causes of ship's collision using FSM are performed. This structure model could be used in understanding and verifying the procedure of real ship's collision. Furthermore it could be used as the model to prevent ship's collision and reduce marine accidents.

The Importance of Interface Irregularity between the Tumor and Brain Parenchyma in Differentiating between Typical and Atypical Meningiomas: Correlation with Pathology

  • Purpose: To understand clinical significance of irregular interface between meningioma and adjacent brain parenchyma in predicting histological grading of tumor, focusing on brain parenchymal invasion. Materials and Methods: Pathologically confirmed 79 cases with meningiomas with pathological reports about the presence of parenchymal invasion were included. We defined the presence of interface irregularity as either spiculations or fuzzy margins between the tumor and brain parenchyma. We counted number of spiculations and measured ratio of fuzzy margin length to whole length of mass with consensus of two neuroradiologists. We classified the patients into Present group and Absent group, and the two groups were compared by using the Mann-Whitney U test. Statistical correlations between the presence of an interface irregularity and brain parenchymal invasion by the tumor as well as meningioma histological grade were tested with chi-square test. The optimal cutoff values of spiculation numbers and the ratio of fuzzy margins were determined. The sensitivity and specificity of number of spiculations, ratio of fuzzy margin and the presence of irregular interface as combined parameters for predicting the parenchymal invasion were calculated using ROC curve analysis. Results: Statistically significant differences were noted between the Present and Absent groups for number of spiculations and ratio of fuzzy margin (P = 0.038 and P = 0.028, respectively). The optimal cutoff value for number of spiculations (> 4.5 with 61.1% sensitivity and 68.9% specificity) and the ratio of fuzzy margin (> 0.24 with 66.7% sensitivity and 65.6% specificity) were determined. The sensitivity and specificity of interface irregularity as the combined parameters were 72% and 59%, respectively. The interface irregularity between tumor and brain parenchyma significantly correlated with not only brain parenchymal invasion (P = 0.001) and but also histological grade (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The interface irregularity between tumor and brain parenchyma in MRI can be a strong predictive factor for brain parenchymal invasion and high grade meningioma.
