Operation of a supercritical fluid extraction process using a fuzzy expert control system (Fuzzy 전문가 제어계를 이용한 초임계 유체 추출 장치의 운전)

  • Based on process analysis as well as extensive operation experience, two fuzzy expert control algorithms, for startup and control, are proposed for a supercritical fluid extraction process which has high interacting multivariable structure. In the proposed algorithms, a new simple defuzzification method which only requires four fundamental arithmetic rules is also presented. Through numerical simulations, control performance using the proposed control algorithm is compared with that of a different fuzzy algorithm by an other researcher and that of conventional PID-type controllers which are tuned by well-known optimal criteria. Also, the proposed control algorithm has been tested to the bench scale supercritical fluid extraction process. As a consequence, the proposed fuzzy expert controller has shown fast and robust control performance while the other controllers show sluggish and/or highly oscillatory responses.

A High-speed Fuzzy Controller with Integer Operations on GUI Environments (GUI 환경에서의 정수형 연산만을 사용한 고속 퍼지제어기)

  • In fuzzy inferencing, most of conventional fuzzy controllers have problems of speed down in floating point operations of fuzzy membership functions in (0,1) as compared with integer operations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a high-speed fuzzy controller with only integer operations. In this, for fast fuzzy computations, we use a scan line conversion algorithm to convert lines of each fuzzy linguistic term to the set of the closest integer pixels. We also implement a GUI (Graphic User Interface) application program for the convenient environments to modify and input fuzzy membership functions.

  • In this paper, for useful administration of the data which have ambiguities meaningfully and hard to treat, a new relation database model using an integrated fuzzy sets and rough sets relational database one. After proposing Fuzzy-rough relational database model on the base of integrated Fuzzy and Rough sets, Application of the examples of arithmetic is analyzed through the Access DBMS and the visual basic by composing and representing database based on fuzzy and rough sets which are characterized as fuzzy sets and rough sets on Pentium computer(166Mhz). This paper was induced to reduce the data incompleteness.

  • The present work proposes the potential fuzzy framework, based on fuzzy set theory, for supporting decision-making problems, especially, selection problems of a best design in the area of nuclear energy system. The framework proposed is composed of the hierarchical structure module, the assignment module, the fuzzification module, and the defuzzification module. In the structure module, the relationship among decision objectives, decision criteria, decision sub-criteria, and decision alternatives is hierarchically structured. In the assignment module, linguistic or rank scoring approach can be used to assign subjective and/or vague values to the decision analyst's judgment on decision variables. In the fuzzification module, fuzzy numbers are assigned to these values of decision variables. Using fuzzy arithmetic operations, for each alternative, fuzzy preference index as a fuzzy synthesis measure is obtained. In the defuzzification module, using one of methods ranking fuzzy numbers, these indices are defuzzified to overall utility values as a cardinality measure determining final scores. According these values, alternatives of interest are ranked and an optimal alternative is chosen. To illustrate the applicability of the framework proposed to selection problem, as a case example, the best option choice of four design options under five decision criteria for primary containment wall thickening around large penetrations in an advanced nuclear energy system is studied.

  • In this paper, we present a fuzzy-number-oriented methodology to model uncertain geometric robot environment and to manipulate geometric uncertainty between robot coordinate frames. We describe any geometric primitive of robot environment as a parameter vector in parameter space. Not only ill-known values of the parameterized geometric primitive but the uncertain quantities of coordinate transformation are represented by means of fuzzy numbers restricted to appropriate membership functions. For consistent interpretation about geometric primitives between different coordinate frames, we manipulate these uncertain quantities using fuzzy arithmetic.

  • The goal of a project manager is generally to minimize the cost of the project and also to cope with uncertainty. This paper deals with the problem of project scheduling a set of activities satisfying precedence constraints in order to minimize the sum of the costs associated with the starting times of the activities in the network with imprecise activity durations, represented by means of interval or fuzzy numbers. So far this problem has been completely solved by several authors when the activities durations have crisp values. However, they do not consider the imprecision in activity durations in their models. Here the framework of possibility theory is proposed to solve this problem. In fuzzy arithmetic, usually, the interval calculations are used for the aim of complexity reduction and simplification. Thus the case of interval-valued durations is first addressed, and then extended to fuzzy intervals. A numerical example is used to illustrate the developed concept.

  • In this paper, it suggest that nonlinear multivariable system control of induction motor using 'T-S Fuzzy Identification' 'T-S Fuzzy model of linearization' is not easy because of that arithmetic is difficult in computation of the function. Therefore 'T-S Fuzzy Identification' is suggested that the rules and functions through the estimation of high accuracy provides linearized model.

  • 기존의 퍼지 제어기는 퍼지 추론시 [0, 1]의 소속도를 갖는 퍼지 소속함수들의 실수연산으로 인하여 연산수행 속도가 저하되는 문제를 가지고 있다 따라서 본 논문에서는 실수연산으로 인하여 야기되었던 속도 저하문제를 해결하기 위한 새로운 퍼지연산 기법으로 실수 값을 갖는 퍼지 소속 함수 값을 정수형 격자(pixel)에 매핑 시켜 정수형 퍼지 소속 함수 값만을 가지고 연산함으로써 기존의 퍼지제어기에 비해 매우 빠른 연산을 수행 할 수 있는 고속 퍼지제어기를 제안한다. 또한 퍼지제어시스템 설계시에 퍼지 입.출력 변수들의 퍼지항들을 입력시킬 수 있는 GUI(Graphic User Interface)를 제공하여 소속함수의 수정 및 퍼지 값 입력시 사용자에게 보다 편리한 환경을 제공한다.

A Fuzzy Microprocessor for Real-time Control Applications

  • A Fuzzy Microprocessor(FMP) is presented, which is suitable for real-time control applications. The features include high speed inference of maximum 114K FLIPS at 20MHz system clocks, capability of up to 128-rule construction, and handing of 8 input variables with 8-bit resolution. In order to realize these features, the fuzzifier circuit and the processing element(PE) are well optimized for LSI implementation. The chip fabricated in 1.2$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology contains 71K transistors in 82.8 $\textrm{mm}^2$ die size and is packaged in 100-pin plastic QFP.

  • The most important technique for an indoor robot navigation is to find out the direction and the distance from the current location to the destination through the information achieved from the sensor. For this purpose, we suggest sensor-based local homing method which compares the destination sensory data with the current location. As for the sensors, we use the CCD camera and the ultrasonic sensor, and recorded entire 360 degree panoramic data. We match the features of the image data, and the distance and the direction of the matched point will be considered as fuzzy numbers. Through a simple fuzzy arithmetic, we infer the geometric relations between the current location and the destination location.
