  • Recently, technical trend in machine tools is focused on enhancing of speed, accuracy and reliability. The high speed usually results in thermal displacement and structural deformation. To minimize the thermal effect, precision machine tools adopt a high precision cooling system. This study proposes a temperature control for an oil cooler system using Pill control with fuzzy logic. In the cooler system, refrigerant flow rate is controlled by rotational speed of a compressor, and outlet oil temperature is selected as the control variable. The fuzzy control rules iteratively correct PID parameters to minimize the error and difference between the outlet temperature and the reference temperature. Here, ambient temperature is used as the reference one. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, a series of experiments are conducted for an oil cooler system of machine tools, and the results are compared with the ones of a conventional Pill control. The experimental results show that the proposed method has advantages of faster response and smaller overshoot.

  • In this paper, a new PID fuzzy controller (FC) is presented. The linguistic control rules of PID FC is separated into two parts : one is $e-{\Delta}e$ part, and the other is ${\Delta}^2e-{\Delta}e$ part. And then two FCs employing these rule base indivisually are synthesized. The control input to the process is decided by taking weighted mean of the outputs of two FCs. The proposed PID FC improve the transient response of the system and gives better performance than the conventional PI FC.

  • Since the nonlinearity and uncertainties which inherently exist in vehicle system need to be considered in active suspension control law design, this paper proposes a new control strategy for active vehicle suspension systems by using a combined control scheme, i.e., respectively using a genetic algorithm (GA) based self-tuning PID controller and a fuzzy logic controller in two loops. In the control scheme, the PID controller is used to minimize vehicle body vertical acceleration, the fuzzy logic controller is to minimize pitch acceleration and meanwhile to attenuate vehicle body vertical acceleration further by tuning weighting factors. In order to improve the adaptability to the changes of plant parameters, based on the defined objectives, a genetic algorithm is introduced to tune the parameters of PID controller, the scaling factors, the gain values and the membership functions of fuzzy logic controller on-line. Taking a four degree-of-freedom nonlinear vehicle model as example, the proposed control scheme is applied and the simulations are carried out in different road disturbance input conditions. Simulation results show that the present control scheme is very effective in reducing peak values of vehicle body accelerations, especially within the most sensitive frequency range of human response, and in attenuating the excessive dynamic tire load to enhance road holding performance. The stability and adaptability are also showed even when the system is subject to severe road conditions, such as a pothole, an obstacle or a step input. Compared with conventional passive suspensions and the active vehicle suspension systems by using, e.g., linear fuzzy logic control, the combined PID and fuzzy control without parameters self-tuning, the new proposed control system with GA-based self-learning ability can improve vehicle ride comfort performance significantly and offer better system robustness.

  • This paper presents an adaptive PID control scheme for nonlinear system. TSK(Takagi-Sugeno-Kang) fuzzy model is used to estimate the error of control input, and the parameters of PID controller are adapted using the error. The parameters of TSK fuzzy model also adapted to plant. The proposed algorithm allows designing adaptive PID controller which Is adapted to the uncertainty of nonlinear plant and the change of parameters. The usefulness of the proposed algorithm is also certificated by the several simulations.

  • In Underwater Flight Vehicle depth control system, the followings must be required. Firstly, It need robust depth control performance which can get over parameter variation, modeling error and disturbance. Secondly, It need no oveshoot phenomenon to avoid colliding with ground surface and obstables. Thirdly, It need continuous control input to reduce the acoustic noise and propulsion energy consumption. Finally, It need effective interpolation method which can reduce the dependency of control parameters on speed. To solve these problems, we propose the Fuzzy-PID depth controller with the control parameter interpolators. Simulation results show the proposed control scheme has robust and accurate performance with continuous control input.

  • Since fuzzy controllers are nonlinear, it is more difficult to set the controller gains and to analyse the stability compared to conventional PID controllers. This paper proposes a fuzzy PD+I controller for tracking control which uses a linear fuzzy inference(product-sum-gravity) method based on a conventional linear PID controller. In this scheme the fuzzy PD+I controller works similar to the control performance as the linear PD plus I(PD+I) controller. Thus it is possible to analyse and design an fuzzy PD+I controller for given systems based on a linear fuzzy PD controller. The scaling factors tuning scheme, another topic of fuzzy controller design procedure, is also introduced in order to fine performance of the fuzzy PD+I controller. The scaling factors are adjusted by a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA) in off-line. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy PD+I controller for tracking control problems by comparing with the conventional PID controllers.

  • This paper describes the design of fuzzy PID controller using simplified indirect inference method. First, the fuzzy PID controller is derived from the conventional continuous time linear PID controller. Then the fuzzification, control-rule base, and defuzzification using SIIM in the design of the fuzzy controller are discussed in detail. The resulting controller is a discrete time fuzzy version of the conventional PID controller, which has the same linear structure. but are nonlinear functions of the input signals. The proposed controller enhances the self-tuning control capability, particularly when the process to be controlled is nonlinear. When the SIIM is applied, the fuzzy inference results can be calculated with splitting fuzzy variables into each action component and are determined as the functional form of corresponding variables. So the proposed method has the capability of the high speed inference and adapting with increasing the number of the fuzzy input variables easily. Computer simulation results have demonstrated the superior to the control performance of the one proposed by D. Misir et al.

  • BLSRM is a nonlinear, strong coupling and multi-variable system. The conventional control method is vulnerable to uncertain factors such as the load disturbance and satellite parameters change. It is difficult to obtain satisfactory control effect. Basing on a 8/10 BLSRM, whose suspending force control is separated with the torque control, this paper presents adaptive fuzzy PID controller for levitation control, which apply the fuzzy logic control to the conventional PID controller for parameters self-tuning. Both fuzzy and parameters of PID controller are self-tuning on-line, which improve the performance of controller. Finally, simulation and experimental results show the performance of the proposed method.

  • In this paper described an auto tuning neuro-fuzzy PID controller based neural network. The PID type controller has been widely used in industrial application due to its simply control structure, easy of design, and inexpensive cost. However, control performance of the PID type controller suffers greatly from high uncertainty and nonlinearity of the system, large disturbances and so on. In this paper will design to take advantage of neural network fuzzy theory and pid controller auto toning technique. The value of initial scaling factors of the proposed controller were determined on the basis of the conventional PID controller parameters tuning methods and then they were adjusted by using neural network control techniques. This controller simple structure and computational complexity are less, and also application is easy and performance is excellent in system that is strong and has nonlinearity to system dynamic behaviour change or disturbance. Finally, the proposed auto tuning neuro-fuzzy controller is applied to magnetic levitation. Simulation results demonstrated that the control performance of the proposed controller is better than that of the conventional controller.
