A design method of rule -based fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. The proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the efficient form of " IF..., THEN,," statements. using the theories of optimization and linguistic fuzzy implication rules. The improved complex method, which is a powerful auto-tuning algorithm, is used for tuning of parameters of the premise membership functions in consideration of the overall structure of fuzzy rules. The optimized objective function, including the weighting factors, is auto-tuned for better performance of fuzzy model using training data and testing data. According to the adjustment of each weighting factor of training and testing data, we can construct the optimal fuzzy model from the objective function. The least square method is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Gas furance and a sewage treatment proce s are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling.

Rough Set theory suggested by Pawlak has a property that it can describe the degree of relation between condition and decision attributes of data which don't have linguistic information. In this paper, by using this ability of rough set theory, we define a occupancy degree which is a measure can represent a degree of relational quantity between condition and decision attributes of data table. We also propose a method that can find an optimal fuzzy rule table and membership functions of input and output variables from data without linguistic information and examine the validity of the method by modeling data generated by fuzzy rule.

Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) is an extension of FMEA which includes a criticality analysis. The criticality analysis is used to chart the probability of failure modes against the severity of their consequences. The result highlights failure modes with relatively high probability and severity of consequences, allowing remedial effort to be directed where it will produce the greatest value. However, there are several limitations. Measuring severity of failure consequences is subjective and linguistic. Since The result of FMECA only gives qualitative and quantitative informations, it should be re-analysed to prioritize critical units. Fuzzy set theory has been introduced by Lotfi A. Zadeh (1965). It has extended the classical set theory dramatically. Based on fuzzy set theory, fuzzy logic has been developed employing human reasoning process. IF-THEN fuzzy rule based assessment approach can model the expert's decision logic appropriately. Fault tree analysis (FTA) is one of most common fault modeling techniques. It is widely used in many fields practically. In this paper, a simple fault tree analysis is proposed to measure the severity of components. Fuzzy rule based assessment method interprets linguistic variables for determination of critical unit priorities. An rail-way transforming system is analysed to describe the proposed method.

In this paper, an stabilization control method using adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller(ANFC) is proposed for modeling of nonlinear complex systems. The proposed adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller implements system structure and parameter identification using the intelligent schemes together with optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication rules, and neural networks from input and output data of processes. The results show that the proposed method can produce the intelligence model with higher accuracy than other works achieved previously.

In this paper, A new design method of fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of nonlinear complex
systems. The proposed FPNN(Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Network) modeling implements system structure and
parameter identification using GMDH(Group Method of Data Handling) method and linguistic fuzzy implication
rules from input and output data of processes. In order to identify premise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication
rules, GMDH method and regression polynomial fuzzy reasoning method are used and the least square
method is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Time series data for gas furnace and
those for wastewater treatment process are used for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the proposed
FPNN modeling. The results show that the proposed method can produce the fuzzy model with higher accuracy
than other works achieved previously.
The conventional quantitative techniques of system analysis are intrinsically unsuited for dealing with humanistic systems. Therefore, the rule based modeling of fuzzy linguistic type has been developed for the analysis of humanistic systems and complex systems and it is very significant for analysis and design of fuzzy logic controller. The activated sludge process is a commonly used method for treating sewage and waste waters. A mathematical tool to build a fuzzy model of the activated sludge process where fuzzy implications and linear reasoning are used is presented in here. A root-mean square error is used as the criterion of the fuzzy model's adequacy to the A.S.P. and the least square method is used for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. A method of modeling of the activated sludge process using its input-output data and simulation results for its application are shown.

A design method of fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of route choice of traffic problems. The proposed fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the eficient form of""IF..., THEN-.."", using the theories of optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication rules. Three kinds ofmethod for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type I), linear inference (type 21,and proposed modified-linear inference (type 3). The fuzzy inference method are utilized to develop the routechoice model in terms of accurate estimation and precise description of human travel behavior. In order to identifypremise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, improved complex method is used and the least squaremethod is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Data for route choice of trafficproblems are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed fuzzy modeling. The results show that the proposedmethod can produce the fuzzy model with higher accuracy than previous other studies -BL(binary logic) model,B(production system) model, FL(fuzzy logic) model, NN(neura1 network) model, and FNNs (fuzzy-neuralnetworks) model -.fuzzy-neural

In this paper, an optimal idenfication method using fuzzy-neural networks is proposed for modeling of
nonlinear complex systems. The proposed fuzzy-neural modeling implements system structure and parameter
identification using the intelligent schemes together wlth optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication
rules, and neural networks(NNs) from input and output data of processes. Inference type for this
fuzzy-neural modeling is presented as simplified inference. To obtain optimal model, the learning rates and
momentum coefficients of fuzzy-neural networks(FNNs) are tuned automatically using improved modified
complex method and modified learning algorithm. For the purpose of its application to nonlinear processes,
data for route choice of traffic problems and those for activateti sluge process of sewage treatment system
are used for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the proposed fuzzy-neural network modeling.
The results show that the proposed method can produce the intelligence model with higher accuracy than
other works achieved previously.
In this paper, Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy set theory is used to handle the uncertainty of students' knowledgeon domain concepts in an E-learning system. Their knowledge on these domain concepts has been collected from tests that were conducted during their learning phase. Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy user model is proposed to deal with vagueness in the user's knowledge description in domain concepts. The user model uses Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets for knowledge representation and linguistic rules for updating the user model. The scores obtained by each student were collected in this model and the decision about the students' knowledge acquisition for each concept whether completely learned, completely known, partially known or completely unknown were placed into the information table. Finally, it has been found that the proposed scheme is more appropriate than the fuzzy scheme.

The discovery of tacit knowledge from domain experts is one of the most exciting challenges in today\`s knowledge management. The nature of decision knowledge in determining the quality a firm\`s short-term liquidity is full of abstraction, ambiguity, and incompleteness, and presents a typical tacit knowledge extraction problem. In dealing with knowledge discovery of this nature, we propose a scheme that integrates both knowledge elicitation and knowledge discovery in the knowledge engineering processes. The knowledge elicitation component applies the Verbal Protocol Analysis to establish industrial cases as the basic knowledge data set. The knowledge discovery component then applies fuzzy clustering to the data set to build a fuzzy knowledge based system, which consists of a set of fuzzy rules representing the decision knowledge, and membership functions of each decision factor for verifying linguistic expression in the rules. The experimental results confirm that the proposed scheme can effectively discover the expert\`s tacit knowledge, and works as a feedback mechanism for human experts to fine-tune the conversion processes of converting tacit knowledge into implicit knowledge.
