Control System of Service Robot for Hospital (병원용 서비스 로봇의 제어시스템)

  • This paper addresses a hybrid control architecture for the hospital service robot, SmartHelper. In hybrid architecture, the deliberation takes place at planning layer while the reaction is dealt through the parallel execution of operations. Hence, the system presents both a hierarchical and an heterarchical decomposition, being able to show a predictable response while keeping rapid reactivity to the dynamic environment. The deliberative controller accomplishes four functions which are path generation, selection of navigation way, command and monitoring. The reactive controller uses fuzzy and potential field method for robot navigation. Through simulation under a virtual environment IGRIP, the effectiveness of the hybrid architecture is verified.

  • Prototype based methods are commonly used in cluster analysis and the results may be highly dependent on the prototype used. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy clustering method that involves adaptively expanding convex polytopes. Thus, the dependency on the use of prototypes can be eliminated. The proposed method makes it possible to effectively represent an arbitrarily distributed data set without a priori knowledge of the number of clusters in the data set. Specifically, nonlinear membership functions are utilized to determine whether a new cluster is created or which vertex of the cluster should be expanded. For this, the membership function of a new vertex is assigned according to not only a distance measure between an incoming pattern vector and a current vertex, but also the amount how much the current vertex has been modified. Therefore, cluster expansion can be only allowed for one cluster per incoming pattern. Several experimental results are given to show the validity of our mehtod.

  • Conventional radial-basis-function networks and fuzzy systems have serious problems in dealing with the non1inea:r approximations on high-dimensional spaces due to the explosive increase of the number of hidden nodes or fuzzy IF-THEN rules. In order to avoid such problems, this paper proposes a tree-structured intelligent system in which semi-local basis functions form its basic elements, and develops a training algorithm for the proposed system based on the modified genetic algorithm and LMS rule. Theoretical analysis is performed on the approximation capability of the proposed system, together with experimental studies which demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed methodology.

  • Recently, digital techniques have been applied to servo systems of the home VCR, which result in high accuracy, high stability and a small number of parts required. The servo systems are now becoming more compex because the latest home VCRs are stringly required to have many functions. Given these circumstances, software servo concepts were introduced to the VCR servo system with microprocessor. But there are some difficulties in the conventional digital PID controller, eg. caculating the exact gains or dynamics. In this paper, we introduce FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) to the speed/phase control for VCR drum motor. To show the usefulness of the proposed controller, some studies are discussed by simulation and experiment.

  • Now is the applications are using WSN for environmental monitoring and surveillance applications, intelligent transportation systems, monitoring, disaster recovery, and the structure used in the field. Also, the low cost of the communication and control functions can be provided, in particular management of smart grid demand may be used in many applications. In this paper, WSN in smart grid is based on the building blocks of smart grid management system proposed for the fuzzy demand.

Development of Automated J-Integral Analysis System for 3D Cracks (3차원 J적분 계산을 위한 자동 해석 시스템 개발)

  • Integrating a 3D solid modeler with a general purpose FEM code, an automatic nonlinear analysis system of the 3D crack problems has been developed. A geometry model, i.e. a solid containing one or several 3D cracks is defined. Several distributions of local node density are chosen, and then automatically superposed on one another over the geometry model by using the fuzzy knowledge processing. Nodes are generated by the bucketing method, and ten-noded quadratic tetrahedral solid elements are generated by the Delaunay triangulation techniques. The complete finite element(FE) model generated, and a stress analysis is performed. In this system, burden to analysts fur introducing 3D cracks to the FE model as well as fur estimating their fracture mechanics parameters can be dramatically reduced. This paper describes the methodologies to realize such functions, and demonstrates the validity of the present system.

  • This paper proposes a new COA (center of area) defuzzifier that is working in the accurate and fast manner. The proposed COA defuzzifier involves both membership values and the spans of membership functions in clauclating a crisp value. In additon, it avoid division by replacing the COA calculation with the searching of the momentum equilibrium point. The moment equilibrium point is searched in the coarse-to-fine manner such that the moment computing points during the coarse searching are moved in the interval of fuzzy terms until they are reached at two adjacent fuzzy terms searching method accerlates the finding of the moment equilibrium point by O(M) mazimally when compared iwth the equal interval searching method of ruitz. In order to verify the accuracy of the proposed COA defuzzifier, the crisp values obtained form the proposed coarse-to-fine searching are compared with the precise crisp values from the arithmetic calculation. Application to the truck backer-upper control problem of the proposed COA defuzzifier is presented. The control performance is compared with that of the conventional COA defuzzifier in tems of the average tracing distance.

  • Risk analysis is a formal deductive procedure for determining combinations of component failures and human errors that could result in the occurrence of specified undesired events at the system level. This method can be used to analyze the vast majority of industrial system reliability problems. This study deals with the application of knowledge-engineering and a methodology for the assessment & measurement of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety of industrial systems using FTA(fault tree analysis), A fuzzy methodology for fault-tree evaluation seems to be an alternative solution to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional approach (insufficient Information concerning the relative frequencies of hazard events). To improve the quality of results, the membership functions must be approximated based on heuristic considerations, The purpose of this study is to describe the knowledge engineering approach, directed to integrate the various sources of knowledge involved in a FTA.

  • This paper presents the scheme for load model based dispersed generation system (DGs) installation and operation in unbalanced distribution systems. Groups of each individual load model consist of residential, industrial, commercial, official and agricultural load. The main idea of solving fuzzy nonlinear goal programming is to transform the original objective function and constraints into the equivalent multiple objective functions with fuzzy sets to evaluate their imprecise nature for the criterion of power loss minimization, the number or total capacity of DGs and the bus voltage deviation, and then solve the problem using genetic algorithms. The method proposed was applied to IEEE 13 bus test systems to demonstrate its effectiveness.

  • In this study, an adaptive evolutionary computation (AEC), which uses adaptively a genetic algorithm having global searching capability and an evolution strategy having local searching capability with different methodologies, is suggested. We applied the AEC to design of fuzzy logic controllers for a PSS (power system stabilizer). FLCs for PSS controllers are designed for damping the low frequency oscillations caused by disturbances such as tile sudden changes of loads, outages in generators, transmission line faults, etc. The membership functions of FLCs is optimally determined by AEC.
