  • In this paper, the fuzzy ISODATA algorithm is applied to forecasting liquefaction of sand in the antiseismic structures. According to the data of the earthquake taken place in Tang Shan in 1976, we construct a model of mathematics, on which we forecast 32 samples in the earthquake of Tang Shan. The correct rate of forecast is 90.7 %.

  • For the purpose of applying to a high-speed control system, such as engine control for automobile application, we propose an architecture of a fuzzy inference processor, which can realize high-speed inference, high-resolution, and can be implemented with small chip area. We have designed a single chip based on the architecture, and confirmed the performance, such as 140 kFLIPS with 8-bit resolution.

  • A learning control method is proposed in this paper, using a knowledge base which contains control rules, data, and patterns of the past experience of a plant. The knowledge for plant control is retrieved from measurement data during operation and continually modified after control performance evaluation. A control method is proposed using tinually modified after control performance evaluation. A control method is proposed using fuzzy model of the plant and a recursive statistic decision method of fuzzy subset for control rule generation. Also, the resulting knowledge-based control algorithm has been applied to aprocess and its performance improvement and proper generation of appropriate control rules have been verified.

  • In this paper, we represent the Piagetian reversible thinking by using the concept of fuzzy complements. In this case the turning point to the reversible thinking can be corre-sponded to the equilibrium points of a fuzzy set, which are shown through some examples. On the other hand, Piaget considered disequilibrium in the theory of equi-libration as a stimulus for students' cognitive structure, furthermore as the driving forces behind intellectual growth. But we suggest a di erent application o Piagetian equi-librium in another point of view as a tool understanding students' psychological stability in problem solving activity.

  • This study deals with the application of knowledge engineering and a methodology for the assessment and measurement of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety of industrial systems using fault-tree representation. A fuzzy methodology for fault-tree evaluation seems to be an alternative solution to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional approach (insufficient information concerning the relative frequence of hazard events). To improve the quality of results, the membership functions must be approximated based on heuristic considerations. The purpose of this study is to describe the knowledge engineering approach, directed to integrate the various sources of knowledge involved in a FTA.

  • In this paper, we establish some common fixed point theorems satisfying contraction mapping principle on partially ordered non-Archimedean fuzzy metric spaces and also derive some coupled fixed point results with the help of established results. We investigate the solution of integral equation and also give an example to show the applicability of our results. These results generalize, improve and fuzzify several well-known results in the recent literature.

  • This paper demonstrates a novel application of Fuzzy C-Mean(FCM) to identify the causes of ground faults in Transmission system. The discrimination scheme which can automatically recognize the fault causes is proposed using artificial neural networks. By using the actual fault data, it is shown that the proposed method provides satisfactory results for identifying the fault causes.

  • In the process to design a product, the values of the product will be designed must be considered in respect to the multi-dimensional properties consisted of subjective and objective attributes. As same reason, methods to evaluate the design alternatives in the process must evaluate the overall attributes and relationships among its, also. In this paper, the defectivenesses of evaluation methods in the process of product design are summarized. One of the severe defectivenesses of the methods is the insufficient rationality of calculation procedure. Then, we introduce the developed quantitative evaluation method to accomodate this defectiveness and to be considered a evaluator's feeling or ambiguity when evaluating design alternatives by means of fuzzy theory, and suggest it's application steps on the process of product design to be used easily.

  • This paper considers the application of mobile robot to the herding problem. The herding problem involves a ‘pursuer’ trying to herd a moving ‘evader’ to a predefined location. In this paper, two mobile robots act as pursuer and evader in the fenced area, where the pursuer robot uses a fuzzy cooperative decision strategy (FCDS) in the herding algorithm. To herd evader robot to a predefined position, the pursuer robot calculates strategic herding point and then navigates to that point using FCDS. FCDS consists of a two-level hierarchy: low level motion descriptors and a high level coordinator. In order to optimize the FCDS, we use the multithread evolutionary programming algorithm. The proposed algorithm is implemented in the real mobile robot system and its performance is demonstrated using experimental results.
