  • Due to high oil prices and global warming problems, researching an alternative energy source and decreasing the energy usage will be the key in the future. Unlike other alternative energy sources, geothermal energy is less dependent on the surrounding environment. Geothermal energy is the ideal energy source for buildings due to the simple and space saving installation. The system is semi permanent once it is installed and this will help reduce the energy usage in controlling the climate in buildings. Geothermal energy does not emit carbon dioxide and other gases that are harmful to the environment. Therefore geothermal energy will be the key in solving high oil prices and a decrease in fossil fuels by applying the geothermal energy system to detached house to counter future energy crisis.

  • In line with the worldwide trend toward the protection of natural environment and economic concerns, the steel framed house is suggested for the next industrialized generatiov. In Korea, untrustworthiness of concrete structured apartment has led to the development of alternative building material and technology. POSCO has constructed the model steel house to assess the marketability of steel framed house in Korea. To collect basic data required to design the steel framed house suitable to Korean life pattern and housing needs, professional evaluation of model steel house was conducted. The goal of this study is to propose alternative plan and ideas on the interior space planning based upon the evaluation from women housing professionals. Our analysis reveals that the habitability of steel house is equal or superior to that of traditional houses. But in the interiior sapce planning, the certain aspects of steel houses is not suitable to Korean likfe style: the lack of storage space and utility space, inflexibility of plav. We conclude that given its cost efficiency and environmental concern, steel house has potential to take an important part in future Korean housing.

  • This paper is an architectural paper which has been studied about dowelling form and culture in southwestern island area of Korea from 18C up to now. The goal of this research is to present the basic data in new modeling development of dwelling house. This area had less cultural interchange than inland area because of geographical conditions. Therefore, so far, many traditional factors have been handed down and especially, a good many commoner's traditional houses exit. The traditional houses is composed of Anchae (a central house), Sarangchae (an attached house of Anchae). Sometimes, Sarangchae was ommitted according to the circumstance of the house. Generally, the form of arrangement of house is divided into two shapes; One is 'ㅡ' shape which has only Anchae and the other is 'ㄱ' shape which has Anchae and Sarangchae. Approximately, since 1970's, new type of house has been built in this area. Usually, Inside this house are living room, kitchen, toilet, utility and 3 rooms. Wall is made of brick and roof is made of concrete's slabe. We can not find the traditional culture in this type of houses. The house in the futrue, the factors of cuture and the convenience of the present age have to be coexisted.

  • This paper aims to clarify the spatial form and functional transition of Korean traditional shop house in Maehwa marketplace, Uljin. The general form of Korean traditional shop house of Maehwa marketplace was the timbered house of the tin roof built in the 1960s. As the scale of a building being comparatively small-scale, building area is $60m^2$ and the yard was mainly made behind the building. When the spatial form of Korean traditional shop house is considered, the composition of 4 by 2 is most. And in the front of a building, the shop is located, and when the back of a building prepares a residence, integration of a sales function and a habitation function is seen. The shop of Korean traditional shop house is converted into living space by change of the function, and the position is the middle of a front of building. This is considered as what inherited the Korean lifestyle. And the last, Although it is not different from the appearance of the shop house of other areas, since there are few grades of the change in comparison, the extension situation of Korean traditional shop house is recognized as an example important for future research.

A Study on the Structural Safety Analysis for Vinyl House at Wind Load (비닐하우스의 풍하중 구조안전성 검토에 관한 연구)

  • Vinyl house consists of main rafter, lateral member, clamps and polyethylene film. Many vinyl houses are used to grow fruits, flowers and vegetables in the countryside. Due to climate change, vinyl houses are often destroyed by strong winds or typhoons in summer. Many farmers suffer great economic damage from the collapse of vinyl houses. So it is very important to build a safe vinyl house and find a method to withstand this heavy wind load. In this study, a structural analysis was performed on four types of vinyl houses(10-single-4, 10-single-6, 10-single-7, 10-single-10). In addition, axial force and flexural moment are obtained from the structural analysis of four types of vinyl house. For these four types of vinyl house, structural safety was reviewed by obtaining the combined stress ratio by the strength design method. This structural review showed that the specifications for the vinyl house proposed in the design are not safe. Especially, the result of structural analysis for four types of vinyl house showed that the vinyl house structure constructed as a standard was a very dangerous structure. Therefore, it is necessary to devise diverse methods in order to make vinyl houses structurally safe for heavy wind load in the future. Also a variety of manual development is needed to prevent the collapse of vinyl houses at heavy wind load.

A Study on the Space Plan of Charnel House Connected with Community Space (커뮤니티 공간을 연계한 봉안당(奉安堂) 공간계획에 관한 연구)

  • Because the hatred and phenomenon of NIMBY for charnel house become an issue, it is the actual condition that charnel facilities are not activated in urban. The purpose of this study Is to examine the space plan of charnel house that introduces the community concept; and then shows the way of interior design for charnel house connected with community space. The following researches are drawn based upon the purpose First, the present conditions and general functions of charnel house are considered closely and revised funeral policy that affects the organization of interior space in charnel house is analysed. Second, the case study for chanel house is limited to the indoor types among the existing researches for charnel house plan. Four charnel houses where were built after 2000 are selected for building standard of space organization in charnel house connected with community facility. Third, the concept and function of community space are considered and the space which can accommodate in charnel house is investigated. Fourth, the concept and organizational framework model of charnel house connected with community facility as a intermediate area In urban Indicate. Fifth, the concrete interior plan for charnel house connected with community space is proposed on the design case of charnel house that are located in urban area. The result of this study is expected to reduce a complicated matter with local residents and to have a correct understanding of charnel house in the future as the existing charnel facilities that have financial difficulty should make a remodeling plan including the community space that give mutual connection to area.

  • This is a study on the Changes of the Apartment House Managerial Problems to grope for the way of more pratical management about increasing the apartment house in Korea. The documentary research method was used for this study and the Han-Kook newspaper(1954-1991) was used as an ananlysis data. On the basis of it, I examined the changes, such as the number of whole articles by time series and the column of head title. I also classified it into several subjects and analyzed it. Finally, I attemped to divide an chronological section on the Changes of the Apartment House Managerial Problems. On the basis of this study, I expect that various documents, related laws and regulations will be analyzed in no distant future. These is going to make the Apartment House Managerial Problems gave more systemic and efficiency.

  • This study proposes a method of generating steel house shop drawing in an automated design method, reducing construction manpower and period. With one hour fire-resistant approval code, reflecting work ability and efficiency, steel-framed house market is expected to extend from one or two story house to multi-purpose facilities up to four story height. More models have been constructed in this system than the first appearance of fire-resistant approval in Korea in 1997 Also, cost estimation of components such as frame walls, roof trusses and floors is obtained with shop drawings. Also, the lack of suppliers of steel framed house shop drawing and unstandardized drawing method get constructors have difficulty in understanding its design. In steel framed house industry, shop drawings are essential part in building and constructing framework and they have major effects on construction deadlines and expenses. By exploring method of shop drawing automation, this study aims to optimize work flow with a standardized drawing method. The proposed system can be applied to manufacturing automation in domestic industry of factory-built panelizing method in the near future.

Preference on the locations of Future House in Metropolitan Area, In Case of Taegu-si and Its Neighboring Areas (대도시권 지역의 미래 주택입지 선호도, 대구광역시권을 사례로)

  • This study analyzes the decision-making processes for university students to choose the location of their future houses in metropolitan area. Based on their intuitive judgment, the university students prefer the general criteria, transportation, facility, education and society, and economy in order. The Kendall coefficient of concordance W which determines the association among the rankings of the students' judgement on the importance of the general criteria is so low. It means that the students highly disagree their rankings of the importance of the general criteria. The rankings of the importance of the criteria like as transportation and education society are concentrated on a mean value, but those of the criteria like natural environment and economy are relatively dispersed. The students prefer the area between the center of Taegu-si center and its outskirts, the outskirts of Taegu-si, and the center of Taegu'si in order as an alternative location of their future house. From the specific criteria like the price of land and house, the student's preferences on the alternative locations of future house are varied as compared with those of the general criteria. According to a sensitivity analysis, the student's preference on the center of Taegu-si is increased, but that on the the outskirts of Taegu-si is decreased as the importance of facility and transportation factor is increased. On the contrary, the student's preference on the outskirts of Taegu-si is increased, but that on the center of Taegu-si is decreased as the importance of natural environments is increased.
