There are currently about 6000 bacterial species with validly published names, but scientists assume that these may be less than 1% of bacterial species present on the earth. Microbial resource is one of the most important bioresources in bioinderstry and provides us with high economic values. To find missing ones, the studies of metagenome, metabolome, and proteome about microbes have started recently in developed countries. We construct the information system that integrates information on microbial genome resources and manages the information to support efficient research of microbial genome application, and name this system 'Bio-Meta Information System (Bio-MIS)'. Bio-MIS consists of integrated microbial genome resources database, microbial genome resources input system, integrated microbial genome resources search engine, microbial resources on-line distribution system, portal service and management via internet. In the future, we will include public database connection and implement useful bioinformatics software for analyzing microbial genome resources. Purpose - This study has been conducted based on the assumption that technology acceptance for the traditional markets introduce Augmented Reality Technology system into traditional markets in order to increase the influence on consumer purchasing intention. The Augmented Reality Technology system on this study has been carried out by a modeling study based on Davis(1989)'s Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Research design, data, and methodology - Before starting the research, we inquired previous researches and defined the basic concept for each research with applying some parts of them. By doing this, we were able to find out if the users had perceived ease of use and the feeling of usefulness for the technology acceptance in using traditional markets. As a result, we measured how efficiently those factors could have an influence on traditional market visit. Moreover, we analyzed the result with actual proofs, assuming that such a visiting intention would affect consumers purchasing intention Results - To summarize the results, first, we have found that the necessity for augmented reality technology for traditional markets and its convenience in use can have a positive effect on visiting traditional markets. Second, we have discovered that the feeling of easiness in use, technological usefulness, and its visiting intention for Augmented Reality Technology can positively influence on the users' purchasing intention. Conclusions - By taking advantage of the research results from this study, the technological acceptance for the traditional markets suggests not only a positive impact on the users' visiting traditional markets but also an influence on the users' purchasing intention for the goods that are sold in the traditional markets. The weak point of this study is that it did not have sufficient theoretical explanation for technological acceptance in traditional markets, and it also lacked theoretical research to apply Augmented Reality Technology to the distribution industry. In order to overcome these drawbacks, we have to conduct thoughtful empirical analysis and research. Lastly, we insist that we will have to carefully verify reliability for the questionnaire data collected by the Internet survey panels in the future.
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle has a high fuel economy and can be driven long distances. Its different modes include the electric vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, and only engine operating mode. A power management strategy is important to determine which mode should be selected. The strategy makes the vehicle more efficient using appropriate power sources for driving. However, the strategy usually needs a driving speed profile which is future driving cycle. If the profile is known, the strategy easily determines which mode is driven efficiently. However, it is difficult to estimate the speed profile for a real system. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new power distribution strategy using a neural network. The average speed and driving range are used as input parameters to train the neural network system. The strategy determines a limit for the use of the battery and the desired power is distributed between the engine and the motor simultaneously. Its fuel economy can increase by improving the basic strategy.
This study's objects are to suggest effective forest community-level management measures by identifying the vulnerable forest vegetation communities types to climate change through a comparative analysis with present forest communities identified and delineated in the Actual Vegetation Map. The methods of this study are to classify the climatic life zones based on the correlative climate-vegetation relationship for each forest vegetation community, the Holdridge Bio-Climate Model was employed. This study confirms relationship between forest vegetation and environmental factors using Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis. Then, the future distribution of forest vegetation are predicted derived factors and present distribution of vegetation by utilizing the multinomial logit model. The vulnerability of forest to climate change was evaluated by identifying the forest community shifts slower than the average velocity of forest moving (VFM) for woody plants, which is assumed to be 0.25 kilometers per year. The major findings in this study are as follows : First, the result of correlative analysis shows that summer precipitation, mean temperature of the coldest month, elevation, soil organic matter contents, and soil acidity (pH) are highly influencing factors to the distribution of forest vegetation. Secondly, the result of the vulnerability assessment employing the assumed velocity of forest moving for woody plants (0.25kmjyear) shows that 54.82% of the forest turned out to be vulnerable to climate change. The sub-alpine vegetations in regions around Mount Jiri and Mount Seorak are predicted to shift the dominance toward Quercus mongolica and Pinus densiflora communities. In the identified vulnerable areas centering the southern and eastern coastal regions, about 8.27% of the Pinus densiflora communities is likely to shift to sub-tropical forest communities, and 3.38% of the Quercus mongolica communities is likely to shift toward Quercus acutissima communities. In the vulnerable areas scattered throughout the country, about 8.84% of the Quercus mongolica communities is likely to shift toward Pinus densiflora communities due to the effects of climate change. The study findings concluded that challenges associated with predicting the future climate using RCM and the assessment of the future vulnerabilities of forest vegetations to climate change are significant.
According to the standard guidelines of design flood (MLTM, 2012; MOE, 2019), the design flood is calculated based on past precipitation. However, due to climate change, the frequency of extreme rainfall events is increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze future floods' volume by using climate change scenarios. Meanwhile, the standard guideline was revised by MOE (Ministry of Environment) recently. MOE proposed modified Huff distribution and new CN (Curve Number) value of forest and paddy. The objective of this study was to analyze the change of flood volume by applying the modified Huff and newly proposed CN to the probabilistic precipitation based on SSP and RCP scenarios. The probabilistic rainfall under climate change was calculated through RCP 4.5/8.5 scenarios and SSP 245/585 scenarios. HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Engineering Center - Hydrologic Modeling System) was simulated for evaluating the flood volume. When RCP 4.5/8.5 scenario was changed to SSP 245/585 scenario, the average flood volume increased by 627 ㎥/s (15%) and 523 ㎥/s (13%), respectively. By the modified Huff distribution, the flood volume increased by 139 ㎥/s (3.76%) on a 200-yr frequency and 171 ㎥/s (4.05%) on a 500-yr frequency. The newly proposed CN made the future flood value increase by 9.5 ㎥/s (0.30%) on a 200-yr frequency and 8.5 ㎥/s (0.25%) on a 500-yr frequency. The selection of climate change scenario was the biggest factor that made the flood volume to transform. Also, the impact of change in Huff was larger than that of CN about 13-16 times.
A sruvey was conducted to investigate the consumer perception of farm products and processed foods, and to figure out the future direction of food supply system to satisfy the consumer need. From the citizens in Taegu area, 532 housewives were selected as sample subjects by stratified random sam-pling procedure. The main criteria of consumers for purchasing farm products was quality and the main reason for purchasing imported products was cheap price(48.9%). Most of consumers(87%) thought that food safety of farm products was not belong to safe level. Consumers(79.7%) perceived that the labeling system for the place of origin and for the quality are necessary, but they did not have confidence in the current label. Nearly all the subjects(93.6%) were concerned about the hazardness of residual chemicals of imported products, desired the rigorous inspection system for imported products. Consumers in Taegu area had confidence in processed foods in the following order; farmerbrand-product(0.9%), government-authorized farm product(30.0%) and agricultural cooperative association product(26.4%). However, only 73.6% of the consumers had the experience to purchase farmers' processed foods. As a conclusion, it appeared that nutrition education for consumers on food-decision making is strongly required for the substantial segment of population who are still ignorant of safety of imported product and food distribution system.
Among several critical topics in semiconductor fabrication technology, particles in addition to bonded surface contaminations are issues of great concerns. This study reports the development of a system which inspects wafer bond integrity by analyzing laser beam transmittance deviations and the variations of the intensity caused by the defect thickness. Since the speckling phenomenon exists inherently as long as the laser is used as an optical source and it degrades the inspection accuracy, speckle contrast is another obstacle to be conquered in this system. Consequently speckle contrast reduction methods were reviewed and among the all remedies have been established in the past 30 years the most adaptable solution for inline inspection system is applied. Simulation and subsequently design of experiments has been utilized to discover the best solution to improve irradiance distribution and detection accuracy. Comparison between simulation and experimental results has been done and it confirms an outstanding detection accuracy achievement. Bonded wafer inspection system has been developed and it is ready to be implemented in FAB in the near future.
This paper presents the conceptual framework for estimating and predicting system's susceptibility to failure as function of condition parameter value which is representing the current status of performance measure using on-line performance reliability. The performance of such system depends on one parameter with a probability distribution that degrades with time gracefully. Performance reliability represents the probability that physical performance will remain satisfactory over a finite period of time or usage cycles in the future. An empirical physical performance function is constructed to incorporate explanatory variables (operating and environmental conditions) over a time or usage dimension. This function enables one to model device performance and the associated classical reliability measures simultaneously, in the performance domain and time domain. The conditional performance reliability structure developed represents a tool to predict system performance over time or usage for next usage period. By enabling such a framework, it can bring us more efficient planning and execution in system's operation control as well as maintenance to reduce costs and/or increase profits.
