A Macro Analysis of Tourist Arrival in Nepal

  • The number of tourists visiting Nepal has shown rapid growth in recent years, and Nepal is expecting more tourist arrivals in the future. This paper, thus, attempts to analyze the tourist arrivals in Nepal and predict the number of visitors until 2025. This paper has examined the international tourist arrival trend in Nepal using the Gompertz and Logistic growth model. The international tourist arrival data from 1991 to 2018 is used to investigate international tourist arrival trends. The result of the analysis found that the Gompertz model performs a better fit than the Logistic model. The study further forecast the expected tourist arrival below one million (844,319) by 2025. Nevertheless, the government of Nepal has the goal of two million tourists in a year. The present study also discusses system dynamics scenarios for the two million potential visitors within a year. Scenario analysis shows that proper advertisement and positive word-of-mouth will be key factors in achieving a higher number of tourists. The current study could fill the gap of theoretical and empirical forecasting of tourist arrivals in the Nepalese tourism industry. Also, the study findings would be beneficial for government officers, planners and investors, and policy-makers in the Nepalese tourism industry.

  • State of the art and current issues related with the RC and PSC structure system for the German magnetic levitation train "Transrapid" were investigated. The German magnetic levitation train adopted a new kind of a structure to enable high-speed transportation, which allows the use of the space over a ground. The loading from Transrapid is light-weight compared with a regular train due to load distribution to a supporting structure. Therefore, Transrapid is considered an economical and efficient transportation system, and is also an environmentally-sustainable structure. In this paper, the structural design and construction technology specific to a magnetic levitation train were discussed, and structural considerations related with an actual operation of the train were pointed out. In addition, the future research area of a magnetic levitation train was proposed.

전력시장 불확실성을 고려한 최적 송전시스템 확장계획 (Optimal Transmission Expansion Planning Considering the Uncertainties of Power Market)

  • Today, as the power trades between generation companies and power customer are liberalized, the uncertainty level of operated power system is rapidly increased. Therefore, transmission operators as decision makers for transmission expansion are required to establish a deliberate investment plan for effective operations of transmission facilities considering forecasted conditions of power system. This paper proposes the methodology for the optimal solution of transmission expansion in deregulated power system. The paper obtains the expected value of transmission congestion cost for various scenarios by using occurrence probability. In addition, the paper assumes that increasing rates of loads are the probability distribution and indicates the location of expanded transmission line, the time for transmission expansion with the minimum cost for the future by performing the Montecarlo simulation. To minimize the investment risk as the variance of the congestion cost, Mean-Variance Markowitz portfolio theory is applied to the optimization model by the penalty factor of the variance. By the case study, the optimal solution for transmission expansion plan considering the feature of market participants is obtained.

국내 의료복의 연구동향 분석 (Analysis of Research Trends on Domestic Medical Attire)

  • This study provides information and suggest a direction for the future research needs of medical attire as a high value-added industry. A total of 69 studies on medical attire were categorized and analyzed for the study subject, study method, and study locations. As per the time period, until the mid-80s, almost no research on medical attire was conducted; however, the number has increased as of late. The distribution by subject was in the order of status investigation, design development, material research, textile design, and sizing system, and especially there was significant focus on wearing status and design development that has rapidly increased over the last 10 years. The distribution by target was in the order of adult patients, elderly patients, doctors, nurses, and juvenile patients. There are many studies on the wearing status and design development of adult patient attire as well as on the textile design and sizing system study for doctor's attire. The distribution by study method was in the order of survey and interview, research and development, dressing evaluation, real resources analysis, and physical property experiments. Through the results of the analysis on the study subject and target, it was found that the wearing status investigation for adult patient attire through a survey and interview was most active. The distribution by study location was in the order of Seoul, Incheon - Gyeonggi, Busan - Ulsan - Gyeongnam, and suggested that a study on patient attire in Dajeon - Chungcheong and Jeonbuk was inadequate.

서울시 지하철 네트워크의 접근성과 공간적 형평성 (Accessibility and Spatial Equity of Subway Networks in Seoul)

  • 서울시 지하철은 1974년 개통되어 네트워크를 지속적으로 확대해왔다. 지하철은 최근 전체 여객 통행의 40% 정도를 담당하며 가장 자주 사용되는 교통수단으로 자리매김하였다. 따라서 지하철 접근성이 시민들의 일상생활에 미치는 영향이 매우 크다고 볼 수 있다. 하지만 지하철을 비롯한 대중교통 자원은 공간적으로 균등하게 분배되지 않아 이로 인한 혜택이 불균등하게 배분되는 경우가 일반적이다. 본 연구에서는 서울시 지하철 접근성의 공간적 분포와 형평성을 살피고자 한다. 지하철 접근성은 역 간 이동시간을 계산하여 산출하였고 형평성은 지니계수를 적용하여 수치화하였다. 그 결과 지하철 접근성은 중심부-주변부 패턴을 보이며 중심업무지구는 높게 서울시 외곽은 낮게 나타났다. 또한 지하철 네트워크는 인구 및 대중교통 의존 계층의 공간 분포보다 고용자 분포를 고려해 보았을 때 보다 공평하게 배분되어 있음을 확인하였다.

공간정보기술을 활용한 도시지역 지표온도 분포 특성 해석 (Analysis of Urban Surface Temperature Distribution Properties Using Spatial Information Technologies)

  • 본 연구에서는 Landsat TM band 6으로부터 추정된 지표온도와 AWS(Automate Weather System) 관측 자료를 비교, 분석함으로써 도시 열 환경 특성 연구에 있어 원격탐사 자료의 활용 가능성을 제시한과 동시에 지표온도와 식생지수(NDVI)의 상관관계 및 토지피복 유형별 지표온도의 분포 특성 등을 GIS 공간분석기법과 연계하여 도시 지표온도의 공간적 분포 특성을 규명하였다. 그 결과 도시 지표온도의 공간적 분포는 그 주변지역의 토지이용현황에 따라 그 패턴을 명확히 달리한다는 사식을 확인할 수 있었으며 지표온도와 식생간에는 부(-)의 상관관계가 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 향후 지속 가능한 도시개발계획 수립에 있어 그 기초 자료로 활용되어질 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 기후변화에 따른 극한 강우의 비정상성을 반영하기 위하여 GEV 분포의 3개 매개변수 중 위치매개변수를 공변량으로 적용하여, 지표면 기온(Surface air temperature, SAT) 및 이슬점 온도(Dew point temperature, DPT)을 고려한 비정상성 빈도해석이 실시된다. 부산 지점이 연구대상지점으로 선정되었으며, 5월부터 10월까지의 월 최대 일강수량을 이용하여 분석을 수행하였다. GEV 분포의 위치 매개변수를 위한 가장 적절한 공변량(기온과 이슬점 온도) 함수를 선택하기 위하여 다양한 모델을 구성하였으며, 구성된 모델 중 AIC(Akaike Information Criterion)가 가장 작은 모델을 최적 모델로 선정하였다. 분석 결과, exp(DPT)가 공변량인 비정상성 GEV 분포가 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 선택된 모델을 이용하여 기후변화 시나리오에 따른 확률강우량의 영향을 분석하였으며, 부산지점의 경우 미래 이슬점 온도가 증가함에 따라 확률강우량이 증가할 가능성이 매우 높음을 살펴볼 수 있었다.

상매선 운영에 관한 일고찰 (A Study on the Management Status of Sanggoson)

  • The Purpose of this study is to consolidate the management status of Saggoson in the Choson period by literature research, and examined latest status by field investigation. During the Choson period, there were fish distributors such as Saggoson and Kakju. Saggoson took charge of fish distribution from the fishing ground to the land, and handed over the fish to Kakju who sold over them to the whole country: This distibution system of fish was started from and adapted to the yellow-corvenia fishery of Westhern Sea. There were two resons far this. One was that these fish were. caught much from vast fishing grounds and had a very strong demand, for which professional disributors were needed. The thor was that because fishermen had very limited capital, they had to supply the money for fish production from capitalists like Kakju whom they agreed to sell fish directly to. By this time, it was thought that the fish distibution system for the Westhern Sea fishery was determined by the background and tradition. Meanwile, Saggoson, which has been working far a long time in Westhern Sea, is placed in changing circumstances. That is, small scale fishery Saggoson deals with will be getting fewer, because the big scale reclamation projects in this area threatens the fishery's existence. Also, Saggoson, presently, might be forced to become more efficient in its distribution in the future. In this situation, the management status of a Sggoson in the past and present needs to be consolidated and investigated through this study.
