Data fusion techniques combine data from multiple radars and related information to achieve more accurate estimations than could be achieved by a single, independent radar. In this paper, we analyze delay and loss of packets to be processed by multiple radar and minimize data processing interval from centralized data processing operation as fusing multiple radar data. Therefore, we model radar network about central data fusion, and analyze delay and loss of packets inside queues on assuming queues respectively as the M/M/1/K using NS-2. We confirmed average delay time, processing fused multiple radar data, through the analysis data. And then, this delay time can be used as a reference time for radar data latency in fusion center.

Degradable implants have been in use for bone surgery for decades. However, degradable metal implants are one of the new research areas of biomaterials science. Magnesium has good biocompatibility due to its low toxicity, and it is a corroding, i.e. dissolvable, metal. Furthermore, magnesium is needed in human body, and naturally found in bone tissue. There have been some published reports also asserting the potential bone cell activation or bone healing effect of high magnesium ion concentrations. The classic method for achieving intertransverse process fusion involves autogenous iliac crest bone graft. Several investigations have been performed to enhance this type of autograft fusion. However, there is no research which has been undertaken to investigate the efficiency of pure magnesium particles in posterolateral spinal fusion. In this study, corrosion behavior of magnesium metal at the bone interface, the possibility of new bone cell formation and the degree of effectiveness in producing intertransverse process lumbar fusion in a sheep model have been investigated. Cortical bone screws were machined from magnesium alloy AZ31 extruded rod and implanted to hip-bones of sheep via surgery. Three months after surgery, the bone segments carrying these screws were removed from the sacrificed animals. Samples were sectioned to reveal Mg/bone interfaces and investigated using optical microscope, SEM-EDS and radiography. Optical and SEM images showed that there was a significant amount of corrosion on the magnesium screw. The elemental mapping results indicate, due to the presence of calcium and phosphorus elements, that there exists new bone formation at the interface. Furthermore, sixteen sheep were subjected to intertransverse process spinal fusions with pedicle screw fixation at various locations along their spines. Each animal was treated with 5cc autograft bone at one fusion level and 1cc magnesium+5cc autograft bone at the other. Six months after surgery, bone formation was evaluated by gross inspection and palpation, and radiological, histological, scanning electron microscopic and x-ray diffraction analyses. It may be stated that the potential for using useful corrosion of magnesium alloys in medical applications is expected to be significant.
Nowadays, there are many attempts to develop domestic medical-equipments. In this study, it is performed to developed a new vertebral fusion device. The basic models are a rectangular-frame type and a screw type which are generally used for the patients. The main purpose of the development of a new device is to reduce the amount of bone taken out for the insertion of a device to vertebral disc and this paper is focused on th concept of a new device shape. In the results, two types are devised. One is a folding type and the other is a separate-push-in type device both are in primitive stage. However, in a folding type there are mechanical pins and the analysis of pins and the lock system is still in study and needs some time. Therefore a separate-push-in type is introduced in this study mainly and a prototype and 3-D finite element model are made and experimented and stress analyzed. From the results it is considered that it is stable for the basic loading condition of vertebra, however, it is required to develop a supporting operational equipment for the convenience of the operation in practice.
Tropomyosin receptor kinase A (TrkA) protein is a receptor tyrosine kinase encoded by the NTRK1 gene. TrkA signaling mediates the proliferation, differentiation, and survival of neurons and other cells following stimulation by its ligand, the nerve growth factor. Chromosomal rearrangements of the NTRK1 gene result in the generation of TrkA fusion protein, which is known to cause deregulation of TrkA signaling. Targeting TrkA activity represents a promising strategy for the treatment of cancers that harbor the TrkA fusion protein. In this study, we evaluated the TrkA-inhibitory activity of the benzoxazole compound KRC-108. KRC-108 inhibited TrkA activity in an in vitro kinase assay, and suppressed the growth of KM12C colon cancer cells harboring an NTRK1 gene fusion. KRC-108 treatment induced cell cycle arrest, apoptotic cell death, and autophagy. KRC-108 suppressed the phosphorylation of downstream signaling molecules of TrkA, including Akt, phospholipase Cγ, and ERK1/2. Furthermore, KRC-108 exhibited antitumor activity in vivo in a KM12C cell xenograft model. These results indicate that KRC-108 may be a promising therapeutic agent for Trk fusion-positive cancers.

Objective : The ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF) is one of the major causes of thoracic myelopathy. Surgical decompression with or without instrumented fusion is the mainstay of treatment. However, few studies have reported on the added effect of instrumented fusion. The objective of this study was to compare clinical and radiological outcomes between surgical decompression without instrumented fusion (D-group) and that with instrumented fusion (F-group). Methods : A retrospective review was performed on 28 patients (D-group, n=17; F-group, n=11) with thoracic myelopathy due to OLF. The clinical parameters compared included scores of the Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA), the Visual analogue scale of the back and leg (VAS-B and VAS-L), and the Korean version of the Oswestry disability index (K-ODI). Radiological parameters included the sagittal vertical axis (SVA), the pelvic tilt (PT), the sacral slope (SS), the thoracic kyphosis angle (TKA), the segmental kyphosis angle (SKA) at the operated level, and the lumbar lordosis angle (LLA; a negative value implying lordosis). These parameters were measured preoperatively, 1 year postoperatively, and 2 years postoperatively, and were compared with a linear mixed model. Results : After surgery, all clinical parameters were significantly improved in both groups, while VAS-L was more improved in the F-group than in the D-group (-3.4±2.5 vs. -1.3±2.2, p=0.008). Radiological outcomes were significantly different in terms of changes in TKA, SKA, and LLA. Changes in TKA, SKA, and LLA were 2.3°±4.7°, -0.1°±1.4°, and -1.3°±5.6° in the F-group, which were significantly lower than 6.8°±6.1°, 3.0°±2.8°, and 2.2°±5.3° in the D-group, respectively (p=0.013, p<0.0001, and p=0.037). Symptomatic recurrence of OLF occurred in one patient of the D-group at postoperative 24 months. Conclusion : Clinical improvement was achieved after decompression surgery for OLF regardless of whether instrumented fusion was added. However, adding instrumented fusion resulted in better outcomes in terms of lessening the progression of local and regional kyphosis and improving leg pain. Decompression with instrumented fusion may be a better surgical option for thoracic OLF.
Travel speed is an important parameter for measuring road traffic and incident detection system. In this paper I suggests a model developed for estimating reliable and accurate average roadway link travel speeds using image processing sensor. This method extracts the vehicles from the video image from CCTV, tracks the moving vehicles using deep neural network, and extracts traffic information such as link travel speeds and volume. The algorithm estimates link travel speeds using a robust data-fusion procedure to provide accurate link travel speeds and traffic information to the public. In the field tests, the new model performed better than existing methods.

Due to the development of science and technology, diversity of fusion technologies has become a major concern. Especially the application of the convergence education became necessary in the curriculum of engineering department. The purpose of this paper is to extract characteristics of convergence education among engineering majors and to present a model of applicable convergence education. The researchers collected studies of past 15 years in domestic and international journals in related themes. Academic research information systems, DBpia, e-article, Academic Search Complete were used for keyword searches. 43 Korean papers and 25 international papers were analyzed for the study. The results showed that the convergence education models for college of engineering can be classified into the three types: the cooperative convergence, multidisciplinary convergence, and transdisciplinary convergence. Based on the results, a convergence education model is suggested for the schools of engineering in Korea.

For the success of a structural integrity management, it is essential to acquire structural response data at some critical locations with limited number of sensors. In this study, the structural response of numerical model was estimated by data fusion approach based on the Kalman filter known as stochastic recursive filter. Firstly, transient direct analysis was conducted to calculate the acceleration and strain of the numerical standing beam model, then the noise signals were mixed to generate the numerical measurement signals. The acceleration measurement signal was provided to the Kalman filter as an information on the external load, and the displacement measurement, which was transformed from the strain measurement by using strain-displacement conversion relationship, was provided into the Kalman filter as an observation information. Finally, the Kalman filter estimated the displacement by combining both displacements calculated from each numerically measured signal, then the estimated results were compared with the results of the transient direct analysis.
In this paper, we propose a black ice detection platform framework using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). To overcome black ice problem, we introduce a real-time based early warning platform using CNN-based architecture, and furthermore, in order to enhance the accuracy of black ice detection, we apply a multi-scale dilation convolution feature fusion (MsDC-FF) technique. Then, we establish a specialized experimental platform by using a comprehensive dataset of thermal road black ice images for a training and evaluation purpose. Experimental results of a real-time black ice detection platform show the better performance of our proposed network model compared to conventional image segmentation models. Our proposed platform have achieved real-time segmentation of road black ice areas by deploying a road black ice area segmentation network on the edge device Jetson Nano devices. This approach in parallel using multi-scale dilated convolutions with different dilation rates had faster segmentation speeds due to its smaller model parameters. The proposed MsCD-FF Net(2) model had the fastest segmentation speed at 5.53 frame per second (FPS). Thereby encouraging safe driving for motorists and providing decision support for road surface management in the road traffic monitoring department.

Controversy has surrounded the potential impacts of phytoplankton on the tropical climate, since climate models produce diverse behaviors in terms of the equatorial mean state and El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) amplitude. We explored biophysical impacts on the tropical ocean temperature using an ocean general circulation model coupled to a biogeochemistry model in which chlorophyll can modify solar attenuation and in turn feed back to ocean physics. Compared with a control model run excluding biophysical processes, our model with biogeochemistry showed that subsurface chlorophyll concentrations led to an increase in sea surface temperature (particularly in the western Pacific) via horizontal accumulation of heat contents. In the central Pacific, however, a mild cold anomaly appeared, accompanying the strengthened westward currents. The magnitude and skewness of ENSO were also modulated by biophysical feedbacks resulting from the chlorophyll affecting El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ and La $Ni{\tilde{n}}a$ in an asymmetric way. That is, El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ conditions were intensified by the higher contribution of the second baroclinic mode to sea surface temperature anomalies, whereas La $Ni{\tilde{n}}a$ conditions were slightly weakened by the absorption of shortwave radiation by phytoplankton. In our model experiments, the intensification of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ was more dominant than the dampening of La $Ni{\tilde{n}}a$, resulting in the amplification of ENSO and higher skewness.
