A Culture is not the fashion that can be changed and created lightly. However, a small number of people are creating and leading the fashion for the foundation of a culture. For example, the fashion in Tokyo spreads across the nation, the fashion in Europe, USA and all over the world are under the influence of Paris, California and New York. Now, we should think about - what is the our consideration to be a member of the minority? What is the today's trend and how will be the future environment of interior, exterior and furniture design? Which one is the measure of the value for leading the culture? The answers in the design area are the creating new value and health in various design styles - Minimal, Organic, Multiple, Natural, Intelligent Life Style. Also this analysis of these trend should be more necessary for the space and environment design area of future than the furniture design area.

The study of Lurelle Van Arsdale Guild (1898-1986)'s vanity table and stool in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is essential to understand how the stylistic change was made on industrial design in the 1930s caused by economic necessity. The vanity furniture expresses in such relatively inexpensive image transformations that would attract new customers in the Depression. The objects are donated from a collector and became one of CHM's collections in 1997. In curatorial file, other than the designer's and manufacturer's names there is nothing specified for these objects. Therefore, this study is aimed for researching the exact date for these valuable objects for understanding American Art Deco furniture in the 1930s. Moreover, studying social aspect of these objects gives clear vision for the background. Especially, the History of American Standard (Rodengen, 1999) gives great over view to the history of the manufacturer, C. F. Church Company. The record in Fortune of 1934 suggests the designer, Lurelle Guild's position among other industrial designers at that time. And Profoundly, the objects were assigned design patents. Therefore, the vanity furniture set in the CHM was a significant symbol of early modernism rising from functional areas after the Depression.

Increasing concerns of environment need to make change furniture field to more environmentally friendly approach, such as reuse of by-products from wooden products. As it is, the methods of recycling wood for industrial purposes have the advantage of productivity and adaptability. However, the industrial way is required a certain production facility of processing wooden by-products and has possible hygienic problems due to contaminated sources. Many designers have developed their own methods for reuse of wood in unique and artistic ways. Even so, because of confined sources, it could be not enough supply. Therefore, I developed the design methodology utilizing wooden by-products from S Design Company to relieve former ways' problems. The design suggestion took materials from a safe and abundant source. The wooden leftover pieces were connected together with epoxy clay, so previous process traces of furniture are remained as a decorative factor. Moreover, the synthesized material was able to be processed by ordinary woodworking facilities without additional installations. In doing so, console table focused on a commercial purpose and dining table for an artistic objective were successfully fabricated as final suggestions. In consideration of the proposal using wooden furniture leftovers, diverse recycling designs should be investigated for future reference.

본 논문은 21세기에 접어들어 다품종 소량생산으로 변화하고 있는 추세에 맞추어 가구디자인 분야가 이바지 할 수 있는 방향성을 3D프린팅을 이용한 가구디자인 제작 사례를 분석함으로써 제시하는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 본 논문은 3D 프린팅으로 제작된 가구 및 조명의 사례를 3가지 분류로 분석하였다. 첫째 3D프린팅 방식과 재료의 연관성에 따른 분류, 둘째 3D프린팅 가구디자인의 8가지 조형적 특징에 따른 분류, 셋째 실용성, 사용성, 내구성에 따른 기존 가구디자인과 3D 프린팅 가구 디자인의 경쟁력 비교분석이다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 가구디자인 분야에서 3D 프린팅 기술이 가져다주는 경쟁력은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개인 취향에 맞춘 다품종 소량생산이 가능하다. 둘째, 디지털을 통한 가구의 전송, 운송이 편리해 졌다. 셋째, 가구디자인 생산에 변혁을 가져다준다. 넷째, 3D 프린팅과 사물인터넷의 융합을 통해 스마트가구디자인 분야로의 발전 가능성이 있다. 다섯째, 지속가능한 친환경 가구디자인이 용이해진다.

[ $K\ddot{o}ln$ ] IMM (International Mobel Messe Koln) is traditionally one of the advanced Exhibitions with International Expo of Furniture in Milan. IMM is not only the furniture exhibition but also well known international event that shows novel idea and the newest trend of interior design field. This event displays from the traditional style reaches to the newest trend, and also presents the world various Interior design spectrum with the forecast of interior design industry. This study analyze out the trend of the nm in year 2004, 2005 and 2006. It analyzed each year's design with form, material, color and general feature. Thus, it suggests demanding and persistent design of modern society, This chart shows the characteristics of the furniture design from 2004 to 2006 Result of the study shows that the trend of the furniture design would be process with the relationship of simple design, multi-cultural character, and practical paradigm.

The future of design relies much on and is only ensured by the fundamental understanding of the dynamics between the ecosystem of nature and that of humans; therefore, having an eco-mind is essential. This study establishes ecological design strategies coinciding with the furniture design process and the furniture product life cycle in production, distribution, and end-of-life. In addition, it provides an overall direction with guidelines for ecological furniture design. The presented strategies focus on the Development of a New Concept; the Optimized Use of Physical Materials-functionality and utility; the Optimized Production; the Optimized Distribution System; and the Optimized End-of-life System. Through taking these steps, we can not only preserve our natural environment and Improve our lives, but also create optimal furniture design which corresponds and integrate with the ecosystem.

This study is focused on the process of a furniture design in work spaces, especially for bank interiors. Basically furniture design is consisted of two main parts of process. The first part is series of a theoritical background and the second part is a visual design process. Theoretical background contains human activities in place, antropometric data, requisite furniture type according to activities and some guidelines for design. And for the visual design process, series of sketches(theoretical background must be applied to this process), and alternatives of design was needed. Researching and applying all these factors systematically to furniture design process will lead to harmonious interiors.

This study aimed at developing furniture for children by Ilgumte which is an expert manufacturer of educational equipments for school and kindergarten and the aim of this investigation is to develop the child-oriented furniture in consideration of Ilgumte's characteristic as a company composed of the disabled people, and furthermore to create a new sales market by developing own technology to improve competitive power. The current status of the child furniture in domestic and international market was researched and design concept on basis of this analysis was set, and through the designing process the new items of furniture having characteristics as follows were developed. First, the simple production way for the disabled to be able to work was selected and plywood used mainly by Ilgumte was presented as main material. Second, moving course, space and storage function were maximum considered, so that children feel convenient at using the furniture in their space, in case of playing as well as leaning. Third, natural wooden texture was mostly reflected for the emotional aspects of children and pink color played a role as partial accents. Finally, difficult production skill and expensive material were excluded for cost down.

Based on the background of the times and theoretical background that influenced the formation of the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, one of representative architects of Art Nouveau, this study examined the formative characteristics of furniture design by period. In addition, his influences on the modern furniture design were also reviewed. In the latter half of the 19th century, due to Arts and Crafts Movement, the popularity of Art Nouveau was not high in England and due to conservative and traditional culture, Mackintosh had difficult time to display his ability in England. On the other hand, because Glasgow, one of industrial cities located in the center of Scotland where he had grown was an open and modern city, Mackintosh could win international fame in architecture and furniture design thanks to the atmosphere. Furthermore, it is found from the formative characteristics of his works that Historicism, Arts and Crafts Movement and Japanese culture and the influences of Continent became his theoretical background. His works creatively combined the noble design of Scotland and Art Nouveau to be considered a simple and pure style with a straight tendency and his working period can be divided into Beginning, Middle and Last Period according to the formative characteristics of furniture design. His constituting principle that decorated the structure influenced the Wien Secession's activities to form Wiener Werkstaette and this finally became the important background to develop to 'Modernism Design' through Art Deco and Bauhaus.

For ages, Furniture, it has been improved for human aesthetic needs as well as human life as a tool. In the 1960s, it's the age of an ideological conflict. And its war made the hippie-culture come out. And, it was economically bountiful. The epoch-making development of the scientific technology made the result of space development, conquering the moon in the first of the mankind. Made the appearance of the Anti-design against the modern design which was the also, it traditional values and the mainstream. The plastic has merits, low-priced, light, being perfectly able to do mass production of the all kind of shapes' furniture with all-desired colors. It was the wonderful material for the expression of the short-life character, the irony, the kitsch, and an intentional decoration to being chased by anti-design. And the result, the plastic furniture in the people's daily-life has well represented with reflecting the mind of the people in that age.
