  • This paper presents 3D graphics lighting processor based on vector processing using pipeline chaining. The lighting process of 3D graphics rendering contains many arithmetic operations and its complexity is very high. For high throughput, proposed processor uses pipelined functional units. To implement fully pipelined architecture, we have to use many functional units. Hence, the number of functional units is restricted. However, with the restricted number of pipelined functional units, the utilization of the units is reduced and a resource reservation problem is caused. To resolve these problems, the proposed architecture uses vector processing using pipeline chaining. Due to its pipeline chaining based architecture, it can perform 4.09M vertices per 1 second with 100MHz frequency. The proposed 3D graphics lighting processor is compatible with OpenGL ES API and the design is implemented and verified on FPGA.

  • In this article, we considered the stability of the following (${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$)-derivation $${\alpha}D[x,y]={\beta}[D(x),y]+{\gamma}[x,D(y)]$$ and homomorphisms associated to the quadratic type functional equation $$f(kx+y)+f(kx+{\sigma}(y))=2kg(x)+2g(y),\;x,y{\in}A$$, where ${\sigma}$ is an involution of the Lie $C^*$-algebra A and k is a fixed positive integer. The Hyers-Ulam stability on unbounded domains is also studied. Applications of the results for the asymptotic behavior of the generalized quadratic functional equation are provided.

  • Nanofood is advanced functional food which food industry and food scientist try to develop process foods in near future. To be developed nanofood, nanofood materials are needed, such as biodegradable nanosphere material, biotechnical nanofood material, and protein and nanofood material. There are some food industrial applications with nanotechnology, such as nanoencapsulation, nanomolecule making, nanoparticle and powder making, nano separation, and nano extration. We can find several nanofoods and nanofood materials on the market. In addition, dairy industry is also in the first step for the development of nanofunctional food. However, nanoencapsulations of lactase, iron, vitamin C, isoflavone are developed for functional milk. Dairy industry needs various nanofood materials to be advanced functional dairy products.

  • Class probability is a fundamental target in classification that contains complete classification information. In this article, we propose a class probability estimation method when the predictor is functional. Motivated by Wang et al. (Biometrika, 95, 149-167, 2007), our estimator is obtained by training a sequence of functional weighted support vector machines (FWSVM) with different weights, which can be justified by the Fisher consistency of the hinge loss. The proposed method can be extended to multiclass classification via pairwise coupling proposed by Wu et al. (Journal of Machine Learning Research, 5, 975-1005, 2004). The use of FWSVM makes our method model-free as well as computationally efficient due to the piecewise linearity of the FWSVM solutions as functions of the weight. Numerical investigation to both synthetic and real data show the advantageous performance of the proposed method.

  • Physicochemical and functional properties of collage from skate skin (Raja Kenojei) are examined depending on pH and NaCl concentration in the medium. The solubility decreased as NaCl concentration increased but, turbidity increased as concentration of collagen increased. Oil-holding capacity and water-holding capacity were similar to other fish skin collagens. Emulsion activity, creaming stability, and viscosity were lowest at where pH levels were isoelectric point regions of collagens. However, the higher pH values at 7.0-9.0 caused increasing foam expansion, foam viscosity, and gel strength. These results indicated that collagen from skate skin could be used as a functional ingredient for food and industrial applications.

  • Epoxy resin based encapsulants are widely used in semiconductor packaging applications. Epoxy resin based encapsulants are often subject to crack or delamination during the reliability test due to the thermal stress caused by high modulus nature of epoxy resins. Epoxy functional siloxanes are often added into epoxy resin to reduce the modulus so that the thermal stress can be reduced. Epoxy functional siloxanes, additives for reduced modulus, were synthesized and added into the curable epoxy resins. The modulus and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) were also measured to investigate the thermal stress and to see whether the epoxy functional siloxane adversely affects the CTE or not. As a result, around 26% to 72% of thermal stress reduction was observed with no adverse effect on CTE.

  • Functional ceramics are widely utilized in a variety of application fields such as structural materials, sensors, energy devices, purification filter and etc due to their high strength, stability and chemical activity. With the breakthrough development of nanotechnology, many researchers have studied new types of nanomaterials including nanoparticle, nanorod, nanowire and nanoplate to realize high-performance ceramics. Especially several groups have focused on the 3D nanostructured ceramics because of their large surface area, efficient load transfer, ultra-fast ion diffusion and superior electrical (or thermal) conductivity. In this review, we introduce the reported fabrication strategies of the 3D nanostructured and functional ceramics, also summarized the 3D nanostructured ceramic based high-performance applications containing photocatalysts, structural materials, energy harvesting and storage devices.

  • Functional neurology is a function-oriented clinical neurology with a focus on the viability, functionality, and balance of the neurologic system, which may be considered as a form of yin-yang balance medicine like Korean medicine. While it incorporates knowledge systems such as developmental neurology, neuropsychology, comparative neuroanatomy, and others, it views the neurologic system and the body as an individually different, self-regulating mechanism with the help of the active balancing mechanism within the nervous system and between the individual and the environment, which view is at the core of its effort to improve and serve the human dignity based on the best possible functioning nervous system. This article reviews core concepts of the functional neurology, discusses yin-yang balance medicine perspectives and clinical applications of it.
