역공학 및 재공학 시스템엔지니어링 프로세스 적용을 통한 무인열차자동제어시스템 개발 (Automatic Train Control (ATC) System Development through Application of Reverse and Re-Systems Engineering Process)

  • The automatic train control (ATC) system development project for the Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) system has high technical risk because the system is unmanned train control system using wireless technology which was unprecedented in train control industry of Korea. To overcome the technical risk during concept design phase of the ATC system development project, the integrated product team(IPT) carried out a reverse and reengineering process using a systems engineering design model. The generic systems engineering process is incorporated in the both reverse and reengineering process. As a result of the systems engineering effort, the IPT has built top layer systems engineering design model of the ATC subsystem. The purpose of this paper is to deliver the reverse and reengineering process which was used to develop the systems engineering design model of ATC system using a computer aided systems engineering tool. This study also shows that the model based reverse and reengineering process can reduce the technical risk by identifying the differences of requirement, functional and physical architecture between a reference system and a target system.

Effect of Long Term Fertilization on Microbial Biomass, Enzyme Activities, and Community Structure in Rice Paddy Soil

  • The effects of long-term fertilization on soil biological properties and microbial community structure in the plough layer in a rice paddy soil in southern Korea were investigated in relation to the continuous application of chemical fertilizers (NPK), straw based compost (Compost), combination these two (NPK + Compost) for last 40 years. No fertilization plot (Control) was installed for comparison. Though fertilization significantly improved rice productivity over control, the long-term fertilization of NPK and compost combination was more effective on increasing rice productivity and soil nutrient status than single application of compost or chemical fertilizer. All fertilization treatments had shown significant improvement in soil microbial properties, however, continuous compost fertilization markedly increased soil enzyme and microbial activities as compared to sole chemical fertilization. Results of microbial community structure, evaluated by EL-FAME (ester-linked fatty acid methyl esters) method, revealed big difference among Control, NPK, and Compost. However, both Compost and Compost+NPK treatments belonged to the same cluster after statistical analysis. The combined application of chemical fertilizer and organic amendments could be more rational strategy to improve soil nutrient status and promote soil microbial communities than the single chemical fertilizer or compost application.

WUFI를 이용한 공동주택 붙박이가구의 층별·형태별 결로 생성 비교 평가 (Comparative Evaluation of Condensation by Type and Layer Around Built-in Furniture of Apartment Buildings)

  • Recently, as the continuously increasing of the one-person households, builders were focusing on a built-in furniture development for efficiency. Through the dead space of the space can be reduced. Also, Condensation that occurs in a built-in furnitures installation space may result in different results depending on the room's direction, floor, finish, adjacent room effect, occupant's lifestyle. In this background, it can be considered in terms of functional aspect and morphological aspect by using WUFI2D simulation system. As a result, the tendency of occurrence of condensation was examined by comparing the water content and the growth potential of fungus graph which came from WUFI2D. Results of this study are as followings: Built-in furniture, both top & bottom open, is more stable to condensation than the built-in furniture with the top or bottom open. Also, Among from the top floor built-in furniture to the bottom of it, the bottom one is more stable to condensation.

Optically transparent and electrically conductive indium-tin-oxide nanowires for transparent photodetectors

  • Single crystalline indium-tin-oxide (ITO) nanowires (NWs) were grown by sputtering method. A thin Ni film of 5 nm was coated before ITO sputtering. Thermal treatment forms Ni nanoparticles, which act as templates to diffuse Ni into the sputtered ITO layer to grow single crystalline ITO NWs. Highly optical transparent photoelectric devices were realized by using a transparent metal-oxide semiconductor heterojunction by combining of p-type NiO and n-type ZnO. A functional template of ITO nanowires was applied to this transparent heterojunction device to enlarge the light-reactive surface. The ITO NWs/n-ZnO/p-NiO heterojunction device provided a significant high rectification ratio of 275 with a considerably low reverse saturation current of 0.2 nA. The optical transparency was about 80% for visible wavelengths, however showed an excellent blocking UV light. The nanostructured transparent heterojunction devices were applied for UV photodetectors to show ultra fast photoresponses with a rise time of 8.3 mS and a fall time of 20 ms, respectively. We suggest this transparent and super-performing UV responser can practically applied in transparent electronics and smart window applications.

빌딩 자동제어용 센서 및 신호의 듀플리케이터(Duplicator) 개발 (Development of Sensor and Signal Duplicator for Building Automation)

  • 본 논문에서는 빌딩 자동제어용 센서 및 신호의 듀플리케이터(Duplicator)를 개발한다. 개발된 듀플리케이터는 빌딩 자동제어에 사용되는 여러 개의 센서를 원거리에 있는 빌딩자동화기기에 직접 연결하지 않고 데이터 수집장치와 데이터 송신장치간의 논리적 통신방식을 사용하여 센서 데이터를 그대로 복원한다. 이때 센서의 신호가 원거리로 전송될 때 발생될 수 있는 전기적인 오차를 줄일 수 있고 자동제어의 시공원가를 절감시킬 수 있다. 또한 논리적 통신방식으로 개방형 프로토콜을 사용하기 때문에 상용 HMI와 호환이 되어 확장성을 보장한다. 개발된 듀플리케이터의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 실제 환경에서 시운전을 수행하여 정상 동작함을 보였다. 또한 측정 오차율, 동작 온도, 동작 습도 등에 대하여 공인 시험기관의 장비를 사용하여 실험한 결과 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

Seismic Influence on Subsea Pipeline Stresses

  • The safety analysis of an earthquake is carried out during the operation of a subsea pipeline and an onshore pipeline. Several cases are proposed for consideration. In the case of a buried pipeline, permanent ground deformation by the earthquake and an increase of internal pressure by the acceleration of the earthquake should be considered. In the case of a subsea pipeline, a bending moment is caused by liquefaction of the backfill material on a trenched seabed, etc., which results in a high bending moment of the buried pipeline. The bending moment causes the collapse of the subsea pipeline or a leak of crude oil or gas, which results in economic loss due to enormous environmental contamination and social economic loss owing to operation functional failure. Thus, in order to prevent economic loss and operation loss, structurally sensitive design with regard to seismic characteristics must be performed in the buried pipeline in advance, and the negative impact on the buried pipeline must be minimized by conducting a thorough analysis on the seabed and backfilling material selection. Moreover, it is proposed to consider the selection of material properties for the buried pipeline. A more economical review is also required for detailed study.

Surface modified rice husk ceramic particles as a functional additive: Improving the tribological behaviour of aluminium matrix composites

  • An electroless deposition method was used to modify the surface properties of rice husk ceramic particles (RHC) by depositing nano-nickel on the surface of the RHC (Ni-RHC). The dry tribological performances of aluminum matrix composite adobes containing different contents of RHC and Ni-RHC particles have been investigated using a micro-tribometer. Results showed that the Ni-RHC particles substantially improved both the friction and wear properties of the Ni-RHC/aluminum matrix adobes. The optimal concentration was determined to be 15 wt% for both the RHC and Ni-RHC particles. The improvements in the tribological properties of aluminum adobes including the Ni-RHC were ascribed to friction-induced peeling off of Ni coating and formation of protection layer on the wear zone, both of which led to low friction and wear volume.

프로테아제 처리가 모발의 염색성 및 형태적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Protease on the Morphological Properties and Dyeability of Human Hair)

  • The tannin acid and the enzymes have been used in order to improve the ruggedness in laundry and the absorption of dyes and pigments in the textile industry for several years. The enzyme processing on the protein fiber minimizes the damage of the entire fiber and improves the dyeability by effectively modifying only the hydrophobic surface. This study tried out the structural observation by applying the Castanea crenata sieb. et. zucc. containing abundant tannin to the hair dyeing as the natural dyeing pigment along with Protease of Rhizopus sp. The dyeability was improved as compared to the dyeing using only the synthetic tanning and iron mordant. When the depth of pigment was higher in accordance with the surface observation, the enzyme dissolution had impact on dyeing and so the keratin layer on the hair surface. Accordingly, it was found that the appropriate depth was between 0.01 and 0.03%. It was estimated that 0.1% protease would treated within 30min. Consequently, it would cause the good reaction with the functional group of tannin pigment.

  • 금속 알루미늄의 낮은 환원전위는 전기화학적 산화반응을 통하여 알루미늄과 그 표면에 존재하는 산화막의 구조 및 성질의 변화를 일으킨다. 산성용액에서 알루미늄을 전기화학적으로 에칭하여 표면적을 확대시키고 중성의 용액에서 알루미늄 표면에 치밀한 유전체 산화막을 형성시켜 커패시터의 전극으로 이용하고 있다. 저온의 산성용액에서는 양극산화시 나노크기의 다공층 산화막이 형성되며, 나노구조체의 템플레이트로 사용되고 있다. 이와같은 알루미늄의 전기화학적 특성은 알루미늄을 새로운 기능성을 가진 재료로 변화시킴으로서 다양한 분야에서 응용될 것으로 기대된다.

식물공장에서 재배한 브로콜리 새싹 용매 분획물의 항산화 활성 (Antioxidant Activity of Solvent Fraction from Broccoli Sprouts Cultivated at the Plant Factory System)

  • This study was designed to determine the antioxidant activity of solvent fractions of broccoli sprouts grown by controlling the growing environment at the plant factory system. Fractionation was achieved with chloroform, n-hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol, water by 70% EtOH extract of the broccoli sprouts. Each solvent fraction was put through TLC and HPLC to separate active components. Higher antioxidant activities were observed for the butanol and ethyl acetate layers. Further evaluation of each of the 5 layers (LH1 to LH5) of the butanol fraction showed that the refined LH3 extract had a high antioxidant effect. Components with similar Rf values from TLC had the same retention times and peaks in the HPLC analysis. It was also determined that the sulforaphane content was high at the chloroform and butanol layers and the sulforaphane was responsible for, the high antioxidant activity. Thus, to use for functional materials, the butanol extract/layer of broccoli sprouts is recommended as the most effective.
