Objectives: Therapeutic effect of Yinyang Balancing Appliance of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in cervical dystonia cases. Methods: Two cervical dystonia cases were managed with the Yinyang Balancing Appliance on temporomandibular joint (TMJ), combined with acupuncture. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures and clinical observations. Results: The patients showed positive changes even after the initial treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. Conclusions: Although it is not clear the effect is a sustaining or temporary in its nature, a positive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

A 8 year-old male patient with tic disorder was managed by appliance of Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy (FCST) for 7 months, combined with acupuncture. After being treated for 7 months, the patient's symptoms were improved. Assessment was made by Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) and clinical observation. A positive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

Objectives : The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of Korean Medicine with Functional CerebroSpinal Therapy(FCST) on a tremor patient. Methods : A patient with tremor of one side was treated with herbal medication, acupuncture and FCST. The effect of treatment was evalutated by frequency of tremor. Results : After Korean medicine with FCST, symptoms were decreased and conditions were improved. Conculsions : The Korean medicine treatment with FCST might be effective for the tremor.

To investigate the effects of the postural balance of TMJ using intraoral balancing appliance of functional cerebrospinal technique (FCST) combined acupuncture and manual medicine therapeutics in the treatment of congenital muscular torticollis. An idiopathic cervical dystonia case was managed with postural training with intraoral balancing appliance, combined with acupuncture and manual medicine therapeutics. Clinical assessment included radiography, Toronto Western Spasmodic Torticollis Rating Scale, and global clinical impression. Clinical improvement was observed over 5 months of treatment period. Clinical observational data on spasmodic torticollis provide an positive prospective for further investigation on the effect of FCST.

Objectives This study was conducted to find out how effective the combined treatments of Sasang constitutional medication, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture and functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) are for oro-facial dyskinesia. Methods A patient was diagnosed as Soyangin according to the result of Sasang constitutional diagnosis and treated by Sasang constitutional medication, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture and functional cerebrospinal therapy. The progress was evaluated with the global assessment scale (GAS) and balance sheets test. Results Oro-facial dyskinesia was almost disappeared with Yanggyeoksanhwa-tang, acupunctiure, pharmacopuncture and functional cerebrospinal therapy. Conclusions We report a case of oro-facial dyskinesia that improved with Sasang constitutional medicine, acupunctiure, pharmacopuncture and functional cerebrospinal therapy.

Therapeutic effect of Customized yinyang Balancing Appliance (CBA) of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurological yinyang balance was observed in infertility case. One infertility case was managed with the CBA, combined with acupuncture and herb-medicine. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures and clinical observations. The patient showed positive changes in subjective symptoms after the treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. And the patient gave a birth to a female child. Further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

Therapeutic effect of Yinyang Balancing Appliance (YBA) of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in a trigeminal neuralgia case. One Trigeminal neuralgia case was managed with YBA on temporomandibular joint (TMJ), combined with acupuncture. Clinical outcome measurement was performed by subjective rating and clinical observations. The patient's subjective rating and clinical symptoms showed improvement immediately after the initial treatment and this improvement maintained over the follow-up period. Although it is not clear whether the effect is temporary in its nature, a positive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

Objective: Chronic migraine is a headache syndrome accompanied by nausea, dyspepsia, depression, and insomnia and it reduces the quality of life. The present case revealed that Korean medicine treatment and Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy (FCST) can reduce headache and nausea in patients with chronic migraine. Method: A 39-year-old female patient with chronic migraine visited Dunsan Korean Medicine Hospital. She had headache combined with moderate nausea and wanted to reduce her dose of almotriptan. We treated her with Korean medicine, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and a Chuna treatment based on FCST. We evaluated her symptoms using a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for headache and nausea every day. Result: After 22 days of treatment, the NRS of headache and nausea had reduced. Her dose of almotriptan was also reduced and the patient felt improvement of in her quality of life. Conclusion: We suggest that Korean medicine treatment combined with FCST can improve the headache and nausea of chronic migraine patients.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy(FCST) on patients from traffic accidents with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. Methods : We reviewed the medical records of 33 patients who were treated for injuries stemming from traffic accidents at the Dong-Eui University Korean Medicine Hospital from December 29th, 2015 to August 29th, 2016. The patients were divided into 2 groups: Group A(n = 15) and Group B(n = 18). In Group A, patients received Korean medical treatments with FCST using an Accurate Balancing Appliance(ABA) - a standard intra-oral appliance. In Group B, patients received Korean medical treatments without FCST. To estimate the efficacy of the treatments in decreasing pain, we analyzed the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Neck Disability Index(NDI) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI). Results : In Group A, VAS of headache(VAS H), VAS of neck & nuchal pain(VAS N), VAS of shoulder pain(VAS S), and VAS of low back pain(VAS L) were significantly improved during each period. In Group B, VAS H was significantly improved during each period, except the period from the first visit to two weeks later. VAS N, S, L were significantly improved during each period, except the period from the first visit to one week later. The total VAS improvement during each period in Group A was significantly higher than Group B. In both groups, NDI and ODI were improved significantly during each period. The improvement of NDI and ODI during each period in Group A was significantly higher than Group B. Conclusion : According to the results, FCST using ABA may be an effective treatment for patients from traffic accidents.
