  • We consider the estimation problem for the scale parameter of the Rayleigh distribution using weighted balanced loss function (WBLF) which reflects both goodness of fit and precision. Under WBLF, we obtain the optimal estimator which creates a kind of balance between Bayesian and non-Bayesian estimation. We also deal with the estimation of R = P(Y < X) when Y and X are two independent but not identically distributed Rayleigh distribution under squared error loss function.

  • We shall propose the MME MLE and UMVUE for the mean parameter and the right-tail probability in a power function distribution and obtain the mean squared errors for the proposed estimators. And we shall compare numerically efficiencies of the MME MLE and UMVUE of the mean parameter and the right-tail probability in a power function distribution.

  • The skin color model is a very important concept in face detection, face recognition and face tracking. Usually, this model is obtained by estimating a probability density function of skin color distribution. In many cases, it is assumed that the underlying density function follows a Gaussian distribution. In this paper, a new method for non-parametric estimation of the probability density function, by using feed-forward neural network, is used to estimate the underlying skin color model. By using this method, the resulting skin color model is better than the Gaussian estimation and substantially approaches the real distribution. Applications to face detection and face ...

  • In this study, the optical depth is analyzed with the effects of droplet size distribution of the water curtain nozzle to attenuate the radiative heat transfer. The HELOS/VARIO equipment is used for the measurement of the droplet size distributions. The spray characteristics are quantified by the investigation of Deirmenjian's modified gamma distribution function. The distribution constant of the nozzle can be obtained as ${\alpha}=1$ and ${\gamma}=5.2$. The generalized equation of the optical depth related with the droplet size distribution is introduced. These results will be applicable to the analysis of the design condition of the water curtain nozzle.

  • This letter presents an alternative analytical expression for computing the probability of an M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) wedge-shaped region in an additive white Gaussian noise channel. The expression is represented by the cumulative distribution function of known noncentral F-distribution. Computer simulation results demonstrate the validity of our analytical expression for the exact computation of the symbol error probability of an MPSK system with phase error.

  • In accordance with increase, if electronic power demanded, more efficient supervisory control of distribution system will be required. This study contains development of MMI(man-machine-interface) system with GUI(graphic-user-interface), for the automatic power distribution system. The main function of MMI system is to edit network of power distribution and to management of data base for network. The GUI function of MMI system enables more efficient management of power distribution system.

  • It has been shown that the distribution of relaxation times, H(ln $\tau$), in semi-logarithmic time scale can easily be calculated numerically from the derivative of the relaxation function in semilogarithmic scale. In that, ln$\tau$, the abscissa, is divided into N different segments of equal size, then H is considered to be a linear function of ln $\tau$within each segment. The technique has been applied to a Williams-Watts function as well as to the relaxation function obtained by photon correlation spectroscopy from atactic polystyrene glass. It has been demonstrated that the relaxation functions can be precisely reproduced from the calculated distribution functions.

  • This paper presents a novel objective function for distribution system reconfiguration for reliability enhancement. When islanding operations of distributed generators is prohibited, faults in the feeder interrupt the operation of distributed generators. For this reason, we include the customer interruption cost as well as the distributed generator interruption cost in the objective function in the network reconfiguration algorithm. The network reconfiguration in which genetic algorithms are used is implemented by MATLAB. The effect of the proposed objective function in the network reconfiguration is analyzed and compared with existing objective functions through case studies. The network reconfiguration considering the proposed objective function is suitable for a distribution system that has a high penetration of distributed generators.

  • The current distribution passing through grounding electrode is required for calculating an impedance of grounding electrode using the electromagnetic field model. In this paper the numerical calculation for currents passing through a grounding electrode as a function of frequency was given. The proposed approach is based on the wire antenna model(AM) in the frequency domain. The Pocklington's equation driven from the wire antenna theory was numerically calculated by the Galerkin's method. The triangle function was applied to both the basis function and the weighting function. The current distribution of a horizontal ground electrode was simulated in MATLAB. Also these results were compared with the data obtained from the CDEGS HIFREQ calculation.

  • Energy distribution function in $SiH_4$ has been analysed over the E/N range $0.5{\sim}300Td$ and Pressure value 0.5, 1.0, 2.5 Torr by a two-term approximation Boltzmann equation method and by a Monte Carlo simulation. The motion has been calculated to give swarm parameters for the electron drift velocity, diffusion coefficient, electron ionization, mean energy and the electron energy distribution function. The electron energy distribution function has been analysed in $SiH_4$ at E/N=30, 50Td for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean electron energy and respective set of electron collision cross sections.
