  • This research identifies the main factors of the psychological climate that directly affect the performance of banking employees in Vietnam. Besides, this research also takes into consideration the differences in gender, age, educational level, and income on working performance. A survey was obtained from 207 employees working at joint-stock commercial banks and the analysis was handled with SPSS 20 software supports. The result shows that the measurement scales meet the requirements of validity and reliability. Regression analysis demonstrates that there are four factors directly affecting the working performance: friendliness, personal development and learning opportunities, straight and open communication, and the support from the senior management. These four factors have created a healthy psychological climate in the banks, where employees will feel comfortable and happy to improve work performance. Furthermore, this research has found that the higher the income, the more efficiently employees will work. The results of this research contribute to the measurement scale of working environment factors. At the same time, this research also proposes some recommendations for organizational managers to build a reasonable working environment that can inspire a sense of mental comfort for employees to work at their full capacity and to achieve the highest performance.

Besides, comparison in corporation by size of the number of full-time employees and sales volume were examined. A total of 1054 cases of 147 brands, 86 corporations between 2000 and 2012 were collected from internet articles and brand home pages. Findings were as follows. The other three types presented limited cases but included negative aspects of CSR. Social contribution consisted of six sub categories (culture & art, sports, education, donation, voluntary service, and campaign), and donation took the largest part of social contribution area. Second, comparing 86 corporations by the size of the number of full-time employees, companies more than 300 employees (38.1%) were more likely to practice CSR activities. • The objectives of the study were to explore the employment factors associated with long working hours, known as a risk factor for various health outcomes. The study relied on the national representative data of the 2013 French working conditions survey and a study sample of 23,378 full-time employees. Long working hours were defined by the threshold of 48 hours a week following the European Working Time Directive. The prevalence of long working hours was higher among men (13.5%) than among women (8.5%). Employees of the private sector, with permanent work contract, in small companies, and men in the services had a higher prevalence of exposure. This prevalence increased with educational and occupational levels. Our findings may help decision-makers to define preventive strategies. More research is needed to improve our knowledge of the employment factors associated with long working hours, as there may be strong differences between countries.

We tried to analyze time use and time pressure of married paid workers in order to understand their work and family balance. Methodology - Time use was compared by employment types and time pressure groups. We analyzed the factors influencing time pressure, dividing two employment types. The data were selected from the 2009 Korean Time Use Survey. Results - Those who feel time pressure among full-timers spent more time on work and housework and less time on personal care and leisure than those who do not feel time pressure. Logit analysis on time pressure showed that full-timers feel more time pressure than part-timers do. Gender, age, education, income, day-off type, and the presence of preschool children were significant variables on time pressure. Conclusion - These results imply that time use and time pressure for married paid workers are affected by employment types. Flexibility of labor needs to enhance work and family balance for females who have preschool children.

  • Relatively little studies have investigated employee recovery from internal service failure, especially from the employees' perspective. When handling customer complaints, employees must not only deal with legitimate customer demands after a service failure, such as providing an apology, rectifying the problem, and offering compensation, but they must also manage illegitimate dysfunctional customers, who may yell, threaten, and even physically harm the employee. These negative experiences can have strong effects, and employees can exhibit higher levels of stress such as burnout and emotional labor, which have been linked to dissatisfaction, tension and anxiety, reduced performance and effectiveness, and a greater propensity to leave the firm, ultimately leading to negative financial consequences for the firm. These conditions result in internal service failure and create the need to recover employees-in other words, internal service recovery. However, little research has examined this issue so far. The purpose of the current study, therefore, is to investigate the relationship between internal service recovery and employee outcomes. A pre-test, post-test between-subjects experimental design was developed. Participants were 166 part-time students who were working full-time. The average age of the participants was 36.74 years, and 57.50% of them were female. The average length of employment was 13 years. Participants were randomly assigned to one of four groups of approximately equal size. Three of the groups were subjected to an experimental situation involving an internal service failure, while one group was not exposed to failure, thereby acting as a control group. This study contributes to the service marketing literature in several ways. First, the study extends service failure and/or recovery research by examining recovery in an employee context. Second, this study attempts to measure internal service recovery and to empirically demonstrate its relationship to employee outcomes. Third, this investigation emphasizes the managerial importance of internal service recovery. For example, understanding the nature of the relationships between internal service recovery and its consequences can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of managers' resource allocation decisions.
