Full wave electromagnetic simulation or fabricated models of an antenna are used to predict its radiation characteristics. In this work estimation of radiated power of an antenna based on its electrical model is presented. The computed radiated power using the electrical model have good agreement with the radiated power results obtained through the full wave electromagnetic simulation of the antenna model. The presented approach offers the advantage of saving of computation time of the full wave EM simulation.
It is important for an ICRF full wave code to simulate the SOL (Scrape Off Layer) plasma as well as the core inside of the LCFS (Last Closed Flux Surface) for the precise prediction of the coupling between the antenna and the core plasma in tokamaks. To this end, a two dimensional full wave code based on a Fourier spectral algorithm has been developed. The spectral algorithm and procedures are described and the simulation results for the minority heating in KSTAR are reported including electric field, power absorption and power flux.

In this study, the main focus is the simulation of acoustic wave scattering in trailing edge and the analysis of the generation mechanism of instability wave by the interaction of trailing edge, shear flow and initial disturbance. The numerical algorithm is based on CFD/CAA hybrid method with high-order computational aeroacoustic method. It is found that steady mean flow gradient terms play a crucial role on the generation of instability wave through the comparison of simulations of Simple Linearized Euler Equation and Full Linearized Euler Equation. Through the comparison with the results of Full Navier-Stokes Equation, it is reasonable and efficient to use the Full Linearized Euler Equation in the initial generation mechanism of the instability wave near the trailing edge.

In this thesis, improved full wave mode ZVT(Zero-Voltage-Transition) PMW DC-DC Converters are presented to maximize the regeneration ratio of resonant energy by only putting an additional diode In series with the auxiliary switch. The operation of the auxiliary switch in a half wave mode makes it possible soft switching operation of all switches including the auxiliary switch whereas it is turned off with hard switching in conventional converter. The increase of the regeneration ratio to resonant energy results in low commutation losses and minimum voltage and current stresses. The operation principles of the improved ZVT PWM DC-DC Converters are theoretically analyzed using the boost converter topology as an example. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results verify the validity of the PWM boost converter topology with the improved full wave mode ZVT PWM converters.
When high waves and storm surge strike simultaneously, the characteristics of the fluid field change drastically from overtopping according to the wave runup height to overflow through a transition state that combines overtopping and overflows. However, an estimation model or evaluation method has not yet been established because there is not enough engineering data. This study developed a wave overtopping-overflow transition model based on a full-scale experiment involving wave overtopping and overflow transition, which appropriately reproduced the effect of waves or the temporal change in inundation flow. Using this model to perform a calculation for the wave overtopping and overflow transition process under typical circumstances, this study determined the wave runup height and features of the inundation flow under time series changes as an example.
In this paper, an improved full wave mode ZVT-PWM DC-DC Converter is presented to maximize the regeneration ratio of resonant energy by only putting an additional diode in series with auxiliary switch. The operation of auxiliary switch in a half wave mode makes possible the soft switching condition of all switches. Furthermore, the increase of the regeneration ratio to resonant energy results in low conduction losses and minimum voltage and current stresses. The operation principles of the proposed converters are analyzed using the PWM boost converter topology as an example. Theoretically analysis and experimental results verify the validity of the boost converter topology with the proposed full wave mode ZVT-PWM converters

In this work, the electromagnetic waves scattered from 2-dimensional random rough surfaces are characterized by the $4\times4$ Mueller matrix elements. The full wave solutions are used to compute these elements. The results of the full wave solutions for 1-dimensional random rough surfaces were shown to agree well with those of the experiment and the method of moments. The Mueller matrix elements are related to the like and cross polarized radar cross sections as well as to the relative phase of the vertically and horizontally polarized waves. The $4\times4$ Mueller matrix elements completely characterize electromagnetic scattering from target. The computed results of this paper can be useful to the field of active remote sensing or RCS.

A new equivalent circuit model of package (SOP, Small Outline Package) is presented for designing radio frequency integrated circuits (RFIC). In the RF region, the paddle of a package does not work as an ideal ground. Further parasitics due to both coupling and loss have a substantial effect on MMIC. The equivalent circuit model and parameter extraction methodology for the electrical characteristics of the package are described by illustrating the SOP type packages. The accuracy of the model is evaluated by comparing the s-parameters of the commercial full-wave solver and those of HSPICE simulation with the circuit model. The proposed model shows an excellent agreement with full-wave analysis up to about 8GHz.

The full wave method requires a great number of computer memory and lasting long CPU time for the calculation of the discontinuity problems in microstrip structures. While the computation only for the transverse field components at those structures causes the both of time and memory reduction. For the case of the calculating only transverse components for the most of microstrip structures such as low-pass filter, branch coupler and patch antenna the computer memory and running time can be reduced to about 50% and 33%, comparing to the full wave computation. Consequently, the proposed method than that of TEM-mode has an advantages of higher speed and less memory than that of conventional FDTD analysis.
The global performance of the 5MW OC4 semisubmersible floating wind turbine in random waves was numerically simulated by using the turbine-floater-mooring fully coupled and time-domain dynamic analysis program FAST-CHARM3D. There have been many papers regarding floating offshore wind turbines but the effects of second-order wave-body interactions on their global performance have rarely been studied. The second-order wave forces are actually small compared to the first-order wave forces, but its effect cannot be ignored when the natural frequencies of a floating system are outside the wave-frequency range. In the case of semi-submersible platform, second-order difference-frequency wave-diffraction forces and moments become important since surge/sway and pitch/roll natural frequencies are lower than those of typical incident waves. The computational effort related to the full second-order diffraction calculation is typically very heavy, so in many cases, the simplified approach called Newman's approximation or first-order-wave-force-only are used. However, it needs to be justified against more complete solutions with full QTF (quadratic transfer function), which is a main subject of the present study. The numerically simulated results for the 5MW OC4 semisubmersible floating wind turbine by FAST-CHARM3D are also extensively compared with the DeepCWind model test results by Technip/NREL/UMaine. The predicted motions and mooring tensions for two white-noise input-wave spectra agree well against the measure values. In this paper, the numerical static-offset and free-decay tests are also conducted to verify the system stiffness, damping, and natural frequencies against the experimental results. They also agree well to verify that the dynamic system modeling is correct to the details. The performance of the simplified approaches instead of using the full QTF are also tested.
