Purpose : This study proposes the keyhole method in order to improve the time resolution of the proton resonance frequency(PRF) MR temperature monitoring technique. The values of Root Mean Square (RMS) error of measured temperature value and Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR) obtained from the keyhole and full phase encoded temperature images were compared. Materials and Methods : The PRF method combined with GRE sequence was used to get MR temperature images using a clinical 1.5T MR scanner. It was conducted on the tissue-mimic 2% agarose gel phantom and swine's hock tissue. A MR compatible coaxial slot antenna driven by microwave power generator at 2.45GHz was used to heat the object in the magnetic bore for 5 minutes followed by a sequential acquisition of MR raw data during 10 minutes of cooling period. The acquired raw data were transferred to PC after then the keyhole images were reconstructed by taking the central part of K-space data with 128, 64, 32 and 16 phase encoding lines while the remaining peripheral parts were taken from the 1st reference raw data. The RMS errors were compared with the 256 full encoded self-reference temperature image while the SNR values were compared with the zero filling images. Results : As phase encoding number at the center part on the keyhole temperature images decreased to 128, 64, 32 and 16, the RMS errors of the measured temperature increased to 0.538, 0.712, 0.768 and 0.845$^{\circ}C$, meanwhile SNR values were maintained as the phase encoding number of keyhole part is reduced. Conclusion : This study shows that the keyhole technique is successfully applied to temperature monitoring procedure to increases the temporal resolution by standardizing the matrix size, thus maintained the SNR values. In future, it is expected to implement the MR real time thermal imaging using keyhole method which is able to reduce the scan time with minimal thermal variations.
Background: Our study was to determine the effect on shoulder isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance in isolated full-thickness supraspinatus tendon tear and combined other rotator cuff tear. Methods: Total of 81 male patients (mean age $57.8{\pm}7.4$ years) who were diagnosed as a full-thickness supraspinatus tendon tear were included. They were classified into isolated or combined tear. The isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance were measured using the Biodex multi-joint system $PRO^{(R)}$ (Biodex Medical Systems, Shirley, NY, USA) in following movements: shoulder abduction, adduction, flexion, extension, external rotation, and internal rotation. Then, the difference in muscle function according to the type of tears were assessed. Fifty-seven patients had isolated supraspinatus tendon (mean age $56.9{\pm}7.3$ years). They were classified into either anteroposterior tear or modified mediolateral tear. The size were measured using T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scans in sagittal plane. Results: Between subjects categorized into the type of tear, we found significant inter-categorical differences in isokinetic muscle strength during abduction, adduction, flexion, extension, and internal rotation, and in muscle endurance during flexion, extension, and internal rotation. Anteroposterior diameter tear, we did not show significant differences in either isokinetic muscle strength or muscle endurance during any movements. However, with modified mediolateral diameter, we found significant differences with isokinetic muscle strength during adduction, and in muscle endurance the external rotation and internal rotation. Conclusions: We found that a supraspinatus tendon tear associated with more numbers of rotator cuff tears has lower isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance than a tear found alone.

In this paper, Bridcage type RF coils used widely as RF coils for MRI and its applicable type, spiral type RF coil are analyzed and designed using FDTD method. In low tesla (IT, 1.5T) MRI system, several tools have been used for the analysis and design of the RF coils for MRI. This includes, so-called, LC equivalent circuit method for predicting the resonance frequency of the coil and the Biot-Savart law to determine the field distribution within the coil. Both of the circuit analysis and Biot-Savart law are low frequency techniques. Therefore, at high frequency applications, the circuit model approximation breaks down because the coil geometry is a significant fraction of the wavelength. In this paper, we analyzed and designed RF coils for 3T MRI using FDTD method. This method is a full wave analysis and very accurate at low and high frequencies. Also, this RF coils are actually fabricated and FDTD models of RF coils for MRI are proven.

This work suggests a study on 5 kW plasma power supply design and reactor capacitance estimation algorithm for a wide range of linear output control to operate a plasma reactor. The suggested study is designed to use a two-stage circuit and control the full-bridge circuit of the two-stage circuit using the buck converter output voltage of the single-stage circuit. The switching frequency of the full-bridge circuit is designed to operate through high-frequency switching and obtain maximum output using LC parallel resonance. Soft switching technique(ZVS) is used to reduce the loss caused by high-frequency switching, and duty control of the buck converter is applied to control a wide range of linear output. The internal capacitance of the reactor cannot easily be extracted, and thus, the reactor cannot be operated in an optimized resonant state. To address this issue, this work designs the internal capacitance of the reactor such that estimations can be performed with the developed reactor capacitance estimation algorithm applied to the internal capacitance of the reactor. A 5 kW plasma power supply is designed for a wide range of linear output control, and the validity of the study on the reactor capacitance estimation algorithm is verified.

This paper presents a new full-bridge soft switching PWM DC-DC converter circuit topology that adding two switcher, two lossless snubber quasi-resonance capacity, two diode to power source for general welding machine. This half bridge soft switching Is low voltage hight current output that first coil current is smaller than second coil current in high frequency transformer can be obtained with decreasing path loss in conventional DC bus line switcher. As it operate ZCS/ZVS in full range, high frequency, high efficiency and high output are implemented at low voltage and high DC current switching power supplies. All of this items are got from simulation and the result of experiment. If make up for the weak points of this proposed circuit, it will be used more easily for next generation TIG, MIG and MAG type of arc-welding machine.
A new high efficiency phase shifted full bridge (PSFB) converter for sustaining power module of plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed in this paper .The proposed converter employs the rectifier of voltage doubler type without output inductor. Since it has no output inductor, the voltage stresses of the secondary rectifier diodes can be clamped at the level of the output voltage. Therefore, no dissipative resistor-capacitor (RC) snubber for rectifier diodes is needed and a high efficiency as well as low noise cutout voltage can be realized. In addition, due to elimination of the large output inductor, it features a simple structure, lower cost, less mass, and lighter weight. Furthermore, the proposed converter has wide zero voltage switching (ZVS ) ranges with low current stresses of the primary switches. Also the resonance between the leakage inductor of the transformer and the capacitor of the voltage doubler cell makes the current stresses of the primary switches and rectifier diodes reduced. In this paper, the operational principles, analysis of the proposed converter, and the experimental results are presented.

To improve the output power of a photomixer as a THz source, we propose a four-leaf clover-shaped antenna structure which is composed of a highly resonant radiation element and a stable DC feed element. The resonance characteristics of the proposed structure were investigated on a half-infinite substrate first as a simplified radiation environment in order to save the computation time. Based on the antenna characteristics on a half-infinite substrate, the antenna structure was designed to have a maximum total efficiency and a maximum directivity on an extended hemispherical lens. In comparison with a full-wavelength dipole, an input resistance of this structure increased six fold and this characteristic significantly improved the mismatch efficiency between a photomixer and an antenna. THz output power from this structure is expected to increase by 2.7 times as compared to a full-wavelength dipole case.

Objective: To compare the performance of simulated abbreviated breast MRI (AB-MRI) and full diagnostic (FD)-MRI in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions detected by MRI and investigate the features of discrepant lesions of the two protocols. Materials and Methods: An AB-MRI set with single first postcontrast images was retrospectively obtained from an FD-MRI cohort of 111 lesions (34 malignant, 77 benign) detected by contralateral breast MRI in 111 women (mean age, 49.8. ± 9.8; range, 28-75 years) with recently diagnosed breast cancer. Five blinded readers independently classified the likelihood of malignancy using Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System assessments. McNemar tests and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) analyses were performed. The imaging and pathologic features of the discrepant lesions of the two protocols were analyzed. Results: The sensitivity of AB-MRI for lesion characterization tended to be lower than that of FD-MRI for all readers (58.8-82.4% vs. 79.4-100%), although the findings of only two readers were significantly different (p < 0.05). The specificity of AB-MRI for lesion characterization was higher than that of FD-MRI for 80% of readers (39.0-74.0% vs. 19.5-45.5%, p ≤ 0.001). The AUC of AB-MRI was comparable to that of FD-MRI for all readers (p > 0.05). Fifteen percent (5/34) of the cancers were false-negatives on AB-MRI. More suspicious margins or internal enhancement on the delayed phase images were related to the discrepancies. Conclusion: The overall performance of AB-MRI was similar to that of FD-MRI in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions. AB-MRI showed lower sensitivity and higher specificity than FD-MRI, as 15% of the cancers were misclassified compared to FD-MRI.

Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 5 (IGFBP-5) plays an important role in controlling cell survival, differentiation and apoptosis. Apoptosis can be induced by an extrinsic pathway involving the ligand-mediated activation of death receptors such as tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 (TNFR1). To determine whether IGFBP-5 and TNFR1 interact as members of the same apoptosis pathway, recombinant IGFBP-5 and TNFR1 were isolated. The expression and purification of the full-length TNFR1 and truncated IGFBP-5 proteins were successfully performed in E. coli. The binding of both IGFBP-5 and TNFR1 proteins was detected by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy (BIAcore), fluorescence measurement, electron microscopy, and size-exclusion column (SEC) chromatography. IGFBP-5 indeed binds to TNFR1 with an apparent $K_D$ of 9 nM. After measuring the fluorescence emission spectra of purified IGFBP-5 and TNFR1, it was found that the tight interaction of these proteins is accompanied by significant conformational changes of one or both. These results indicate that IGFBP-5 acts potently as a novel ligand for TNFR1.

In order to improve the vibration characteristics of mid sized passenger car automatic transmission at idle experimental and theoretical studies have been carried out. Idle shake in "D" range occurs by various reasons such as characteristics of body bending resonance between subsystems and engine mounts etc. Using full vehicle finite element analyses and modal tests we introduce the way to reduce the idle shake in the early design stage. It shows that the exciting forces are the 2nd order torque and force of engine. A powertrain system modes in "D" range are entirely effected by the additional boundary conditions of drive line. As a result the frequencies of subsystems are arranged to be lined up at the idle frequency range in order to avoid the resonances with subsystems To reduce the idle shake mounts of radiator are tuned to act as a dynamic damper to 1st bending frequency of the body. In addition a hydraulic mount which is optimized by Phase Shift Method is applied to the rear engine mount.e rear engine mount.
