  • This paper presents a link adaptation scheme for adaptive full duplex (AFD) systems. The signal modulation levels and communication link patterns are adaptively selected according to the changing channel conditions. The link pattern selection process consists of two successive steps such as a transmit-receive antenna pair selection based on maximum sum rate or minimum maximum symbol error rate, and an adaptive modulation based on maximum minimum norm. In AFD systems, the antennas of both nodes are jointly determined with modulation levels depending on the channel conditions. An adaptive algorithm with relatively low complexity is also proposed to select the link parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed AFD system offers significant bit error rate (BER) performance improvement compared with conventional full duplex systems with perfect or imperfect self-interference cancellation under the same fixed sum rate.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel hardware architecture for Rate control module for real time full HD video compression. In the proposed architecture, QP is updated by using the rate control algorithm to every the macroblock line(120MB for Full HD, 20MB for CIF image). Since there are many complex arithmetic and floating point arithmetic in rate control algorithm of JM for H.264, it is impossible to process the rate control algorithm using the integer arithmetic CPU core. So we adopted floating point arithmetic unit in our architecture, and implemented the rate control algorithm using the floating unit. With this implemented hardware, the implemented hardware is verified to be operated in real time.

  • In Korea, delivery of preterm has increased gradually, preterm delivery rate was 6.4% in 1995 and 9.8% in 2002. The purpose of this study is to provide guidelines for preventing preterm delivery in aspect of health factors and food habits. The health factors and dietary habits were compared between preterm delivery group and full-term delivery group on to recognize risk factor of delivering premature. The results obtained are summarized as follows. The full-term delivery group showed a high rate of professionals and the preterm delivery group showed a high rate of the service industry, showing differences in kinds of occupation(p<0.05). Heights were higher in full-term delivery group(p<0.05). Among the nutrition supplements, iron supplement consumption was the most, period of the intake of iron was significantly longer for the full-term delivery group than for the preterm delivery group(p<0.05). Also, prevalence of coffee was higher in preterm delivery group(p<0.001). The activity level was higher in full-term delivery group(p<0.005).

  • The recent advances in wireless networks area have led to new techniques, such as small cells or full-duplex (FD) transmission, have also been developed to further increase the network capacity. Particularly, full-duplex communication promises expected throughput gain by doubling the spectrum compared to half-duplex (HD) communication. Because this technique permits one set of frequencies to simultaneously transmit and receive signals. In this paper, we focus on the binary power control for the users and the base stations in full-duplex multiple cellulars wireless networks to obtain optimal sum-rate under the effect interference and noise. We investigate with a scenario in there one carrier is assigned to only one user in each cell and construct a model for this problem. In this work, we apply the binary power control by the its simplification in the implemented algorithm for both uplink and downlink simultaneously to maximize sum data rate of the system. At first, we realize the 2-cells case separately to check the optimal power allocation whether being binary. Then, we carry on with N-cells case in general through properties of binary power control.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient full mesh topology aggregation method in PNNI networks. The proposed scheme can search multi-links efficiently using the depth priority method based on hop count instead of searching the all links. To do this, we propose a modified line segment algorithm using two line segment method that represents two points which consist of delay-bandwidth pair to reduce topology information and provide a flexibility to the multiple-links aggregation. And we apply it to current full mesh topology aggregation. To evaluate performance of the proposed scheme, we compare/analyze the current method with the proposed scheme with respect to call success rate, access time and crank back rate. The result is that the proposed scheme is better than the current scheme in performance.

  • Cooperative relaying methods have attracted a lot of interest in the past few years. A conventional cooperative relaying scheme has a source, a destination, and a single relay. This cooperative scheme can support one symbol transmission per time slot, and is caned full rate transmission. However, existing fun rate cooperative relay approaches provide asymmetrical gain for different transmitted symbols. In this paper, we propose a cooperative relaying scheme that is assisted with dual relays and provides full transmission rate with the same macro-diversity to each symbol. We also address equalization for the dual relay transmission system in addition to addressing the issues concerning the improvement of system performance in terms of optimal power allocations.

  • ABBA codes, a class of quasi-orthognal space-time block codes (QoSTBC) proposed by Tirkkonen and others, allow full rate and a fast maximum likelihood (ML) decoding, but do not have full diversity. In this paper, a linear complex precoder is proposed for ABBA codes to achieve full rate and full diversity. Moreover, the same diversity produce as that of orthogonal space-time block code with linear complex precoder (OSTBC-LCP) is achieved. Meanwhile, the size of the linear complex precoder can be reduced by half without affecting performance, which means the same complexity of decoding as that of the conventional ABBA code is guaranteed.

  • Coded cooperation that integrates channel coding in cooperative transmission has gained a great deal of interest in wireless relay networks. The performance analysis of coded cooperation protocol with multiple relays is investigated in this paper. We show that the diversity order achieved by the coded cooperation in a multi-relay wireless network is not only dependent on the number of cooperating relays but is also dependent on the code-rate of the system. We derive the code-rate bound, which is required to achieve the full diversity gain of the order of cooperating nodes. The code-rate required to achieve full diversity is a linearly decreasing function of the number of available relays in the network. We show that the instantaneous channel state information (CSI)-based relay selection can effectively alleviate this code-rate bound. Analysis shows that the coded cooperation with instantaneous CSI-based relay selection can achieve the full diversity, for an arbitrary number of relays, with a fixed code-rate. Finally, we develop tight upper bounds for the bit error rate (BER) and frame error rate (FER) of the relay selection based on coded cooperation under a Rayleigh fading environment. The analytical upper bounds are verified with simulation results.

  • In conventional cooperative communication data rate is 1/2 than non cooperative protocols. In this paper, we propose a full data rate DF (Decode and Forward) cooperative transmission scheme. Proposed scheme is based on time division multiplexing (TDM) channel access. When DF protocol has full data rate, it can not obtain diversity gain under the pairwise error probability (PEP) view point. If it increases time slot to obtain diversity gain, then data rate is reduced. The proposed algorithm uses orthogonal frequency and constellation rotation to obtain both full data rate and diversity order 2. Moreover, performance is analyzed according to distance and optimized components that affect the system performance by using computer simulation. The simulation results revealed that the cooperation can save the network power up to 7dB over direct transmission and 5dB over multi-hop transmission at BER of $10^{-2}$. Besides, it can improve date rate of system compared with the conventional DF protocol.
