실험계획법을 이용한 ALBC3에 대한 고속화염용사의 최적 공정 설계 (A Process Optimization of HVOF on ALBC3 by Experiments Design)

  • 선박의 프로펠러나 임펠러와 같은 유체기기에서는 캐비테이션 현상으로 인해 마모와 침식이 발생한다. 이와 같은 기기손상은 소음과 진동을 발생시켜 기기수명을 단축시키는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 캐비테이션 현상에 대한 저항성을 높이기 위해 산업 현장에서 많이 사용되고 있는 고속화염용사코팅의 공정 최적화에 따른 각 요소별 중요도를 분석하였다. 다구찌 실험계획법을 적용하여 ALBC3 모재 표면에 비정질 분말을 코팅하였고 기공도 실험을 통해 각 요소별 특성을 분석하였다. 다구찌 실험계획법에 의해 고속 화염용사(HVOF) 코팅의 최적 공정을 찾아낸 결과 연소압이 80 psi, 코팅거리가 270 mm, 이송속도가 200 mm/s, 분말속도는 25 g/min으로 확인되었고, 그 결과, 연소압, 코팅거리 및 분말속도는 25% 이상으로 비슷한 기여도를 나타냈고 이송속도는 19%로 다소 떨어지는 수준을 나타내었다. 공정에 대한 각 인자별 기여도는 약간의 차이는 있지만 그 차이가 크지 않으므로 네 개의 인자 모두 고속 화염용사(HVOF) 코팅 공정에서 중요한 기여를 하였다.

  • Liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas haven been regarded as promising alternative fuels because of no smoke, and they are also clean fuel for spark-ignited engine. In spark-ignited direct-injection engine, direct injection technology can increase engine volumetric efficiency significantly and also reduce necessity of throttle valve. This study designed combustion chamber equipped with visualization system. To improve ignition probability, the study designed to help three types of impingement-walls to form mixture. In doing so, LPG CNG-air mixture could be easily formed after spray-wall impingement and ignition probability increased too. The results of this study could contribute as basic resources of spark-ignited direct injection LPG and CNG engine design and optimization extensively.

차세대 한국형 어선의 저항성능 최적화를 위한 수조모형시험 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Optimization of Stern Appendix for New Generation Korean Fishing Vessels)

  • Korean coastal fishery suffers from profitability degradation due to a decrease in fisheries resources, pollution in coastal waters, fuel coast increase, and market opening for aquaculture products. The next generation Korean fishing vessel aims at the improvement of energy efficiency, enhancement of crew welfare, and safety. These purposes can be accomplished by adopting a new standard hull form with improved resistance performance and a modernized residence facility on the deck. In order to improve resistance performance, this study attempts to optimize design variables for stern flaps for three kinds of fishing vessels - coastal multi-purpose, coastal trap, and dredged nets. A series of model tests for these fishing vessels was carried out in the towing tank of Pusan National University. The results indicate that for some cases, the stern flap caused the stern trim of the vessel to decrease, leading to the resistance reduction.

다목적 최적화 기법을 이용한 신재생에너지 기반 자립 에너지공급 시스템 설계 및 평가 (Economic and Environmental Assessment of a Renewable Stand-Alone Energy Supply System Using Multi-objective Optimization)

  • 본 연구에서는 다목적 최적화 기법을 이용하여 다양한 신재생에너지 자원 기반 통합 에너지 공급 시스템을 설계 및 평가 한다. 본 연구에서는 에너지 공급 시스템의 주요 구성요소로써 태양광 모듈, 풍력터빈 및 화석연료 기반 발전장치 등 에너지 생산 기술을 비롯하여 배터리와 인버터 등의 전력 에너지 저장 및 변환 장치 등도 포함한다. 특히, 6개의 한국 대표 지역을 선별하여 각 지역의 에너지 요구량 및 실제 신재생 에너지 자원 데이터를 기반으로 최적의 독립 통합 에너지 공급 시스템을 설계하였으며, 총 소요비용, 단위에너지비용 및 생애주기 이산화탄소 배출 분석 등, 다양한 지표를 이용하여 시스템의 경제성 및 환경성을 분석한다. 특히 다목적최적화 기법을 이용하여 최소 비용과 최소 이산화탄소 배출 등 두 목적함수를 동시에 만족하는 파레토 솔루션을 규명함으로써 신재생 자원 기반 독립 에너지 공급 시스템 설계의 가능성 및 효과를 정량적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 신재생에너지 자원이 좋은 지역일수록 시스템 구축 비용 증가에 따른 이산화탄소 절감 효과가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 신재생에너지 자원 기반 에너지 공급 시스템의 전력 단가는 현재 기존 단가보다 평균 0.35~0.46 $/kWh높게 나타났으며, 이산화탄소 배출량의 경우 기존 배출량보다 470~490 g$CO_2$/kWh정도의 저감효과를 보임을 분석하였다.

A SE Approach to Predict the Peak Cladding Temperature using Artificial Neural Network

  • Traditionally nuclear thermal hydraulic and nuclear safety has relied on numerical simulations to predict the system response of a nuclear power plant either under normal operation or accident condition. However, this approach may sometimes be rather time consuming particularly for design and optimization problems. To expedite the decision-making process data-driven models can be used to deduce the statistical relationships between inputs and outputs rather than solving physics-based models. Compared to the traditional approach, data driven models can provide a fast and cost-effective framework to predict the behavior of highly complex and non-linear systems where otherwise great computational efforts would be required. The objective of this work is to develop an AI algorithm to predict the peak fuel cladding temperature as a metric for the successful implementation of FLEX strategies under extended station black out. To achieve this, the model requires to be conditioned using pre-existing database created using the thermal-hydraulic analysis code, MARS-KS. In the development stage, the model hyper-parameters are tuned and optimized using the talos tool.

실험 계획법을 이용한 고속 반활주선의 부가물 최적화 (A Study on the Appendages Optimization of a High Speed Semi-Planing Monohull using DOE)

  • The resistance of a high speed monohull can be dramatically increased at the high speed range due to the severe stern trim, spray formation and hull bottom pressure irregularity etc. In order to avoid these demerits associated with this resistance increase, various appendages such as the stern wedge, vertical wedge, stern flap, spray strip etc. have been studied. Each of appendage can control the trim angle and/or improve the resistance performance. If these appendages are combined for finding the maximal resistance reduction, there are enormous combination selections. This paper presents the DOE(Design of experiment) using an orthogonal array in order to decrease the model tests finding the optimum appendage combination. And we evaluate that the method introduced in this paper makes the optimal combination of appendages efficient and time-saving by applying to high speed semi-planing monohull. Here, the maximum speed and the least fuel expense are adopted as the decision criteria.

Response Surface Method를 이용한 폐식용유로부터 바이오디젤 생산의 최적화 (Optimization of Biodiesel Production from Waste Frying Oil using Response Surface Method)

  • 바이오디젤(지방산 메틸 에스테르)은 생분해성, 무독성, 그리고 재생연료로서 지난 10여년간 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 바이오디젤을 생산하기 위해 다양한 방법들이 개발되었는데, 그 중 알칼리 촉매를 이용한 에스테르화 반응이 짧은 시간동안 높은 수율을 얻을 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 알칼리 촉매하에 에스테르화 반응의 최적조건을 찾기 위하여 response surface method를 사용하였다. 결과적으로 바이오디젤 생산 공정에 영향을 주는 7개의 변수 중 반응온도, 반응시간, 그리고 교반속도가 중요했는데 이들의 최적 값은 각각 67$^{\circ}C$, 68분, 94 rpm이었다. 이와같은 최적인 조건하에서 실험한 결과 바이오디젤로의 전화율은 99.7%이었다.

  • Fuel economy has always been a major issue in the automobile industry, especially owing to the associated environmental concerns. It is widely known that only 5-20% of the energy generated by automobiles running on internal combustion engine engines is used as power, while the rest is consumed because of friction between components. The main components of the reciprocating piston type compressor used in vehicles, such as the shaft, swash plate, piston, and cylinder, cause severe energy loss owing to frictional contact between each other. The wear contact between the main shaft and the other components is particularly severe. Most quality issues arise owing to the sticking phenomenon that occurs between these parts. In this study, a coating solution to reduce friction is prepared by mixing adhesive solid lubricant, organic binder-polyadimide, inorganic binder (Binder), and graphite in four different ratios, and the best combination is determined.

Optimization of spent nuclear fuels per canister to improve the disposal efficiency of a deep geological repository in Korea

  • The disposal area of a deep geological repository (DGR) for the disposal of spent nuclear fuels (SNFs) is estimated considering the spacing between deposition holes and between disposal tunnels, as determined by a thermal analysis using the decay heat of a reference SNF. Given the relatively large amount of decay heat of the reference SNF, the disposal area of the DGR is found to be overestimated. Therefore, we develop a computer program using MATLAB, termed ACom (Assembly Combination), to combine SNFs when stored in canisters such that the decay heat per canister is evenly distributed. The stability of ACom was checked and the overall distribution of the decay heat per canister was analyzed. Finally, ACom was applied to disposal scenarios suggested in the conceptual design of a DGR for SNFs, and it was confirmed that the decay heat per canister could be evenly distributed and that the maximum decay heat of the canister could be much lower than that of a canister estimated using a reference SNF. ACom can be used to improve the disposal efficiency by reducing the disposal area of a DGR for SNFs by ensuringg a relatively even distribution of decay heat per canister.

HVOF 용사 건의 이동속도가 WC-Co 코팅층의 두께 형성 및 표면 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Gun Nozzle Movement Speed in HVOF Process on the properties of Coating Thickness and Surface)

  • In order to process materials such as engineering plastics, which are difficult to mold due to their high strength compared to conventional polymer materials, it is necessary to improve the hardness and strength of parts such as screws and barrels of injection equipment in extrusion system. High-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) process is well known for its contribution on enhancement of surface properties. Thus in this study, using the HVOF process, WC coating layers of different thicknesses were bonded to the surface of S30C substrate by controlling the movement speed of the spray nozzle and each property was evaluated to decide the optimization condition. Through the results, the thickness of WC coating layer increased from 0 to 200 ㎛ maximum, along with the decrement of nozzle movement speed and the surface hardness get increased. Especially, the coated layer with the thickness over 180 ㎛ under the nozzle speed 500 mm/s had high hardness than thinner layer. In addition, the amount of wear consumed per unit time was also significantly reduced due to the formation of the coating layer.
