특허 및 논문 게재 분석을 통한 연료전지용 전해질막의 연구동향 (Current Patents and Papers Research Trend of Fuel Cell Membrane)

  • 연료전지는 친환경적 에너지 발생원으로 미래의 에너지 부족 문제와 공해 문제를 한꺼번에 해결하기 위한 방법으로 최근 그 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 연료전지는 별도의 발전 장치를 필요로 하지 않고, 수소와 산소의 반응에 의해 전기를 직접 생산하기 때문에 발전 효율이 높다. 연료전지 시스템에서의 핵심 기술은 고분자 분리막을 제조하는 것으로써 상용화된 나피온 전해질막은 제조 단가가 높고 고온에서 성능이 급감한다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 많은 학자들이 나피온 전해질 분리막을 대체하기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 총설에서는 연료전지용 전해질 분리막의 특허 및 논문의 기술 경쟁력 평가를 통하여 국가별, 기관별, 기업별 발표 빈도수를 정리하였으며, 고분자 전해질 연료전지, 직접 메탄올 연료전지, 그리고 알칼리 연료전지에 대한 평가를 진행하였다.

  • Fuel cell systems offer high energy efficiencies for transportation application. In addition, they can use alcohols and alternative fuels as the fuel, while producing little or no noxious emissions. Fuel cell-powered vehicles should be competitive in performance characteristics and in capital and maintenance costs with internal combustion engine vehicles. The objective of the present study is to design a fuelcell/battery powered vehicles to analyze technical feasibity.

  • Detailed modeling of PEMFCs has been getting considerable interest for predicting the fuel cell performance and also for use in various systems engineering activities. While CFD-based equipment models provide detailed analyses of the performance, they are very time-consuming to develop and run. The computations become quite complex when such models have to be embedded into the flowsheet-level optimization of fuel cell systems. In this paper, we present results about building and using NN-based reduced order models for quickly and repetitively predicting the flow of reactants in a PEMFC manifold.

재생전원 시스템의 지상 시뮬레이터용 1kW급 재생형 연료전지 개발 (Development of the 1kW Class Regenerative Fuel Cell for Ground Simulator of Regeneration Electric Power System)

  • The PEM type regenerative fuel cell(RFC) for the ground simulator of the regeneration electric power system has been designed, manufactured, and tested. In this paper, the designing and manufacturing procedures of the RFC were presented. Also, the performance test results were showed briefly. The RFC consists of PEM type stack, humidifier, pressure and flow control valve, storage tanks, pump and controller. The performance tests were carried out with stack and system performance tests. The performance targets are more than 50% stack efficiency, 1.5kW stack power, less 400W parasitic power in design condition. Most of the performances required are satisfied.

  • Parametric calculation were conducted to estimate performance of variable geometry of hydrogen recirculation blower for fuel cell vehicle. The pressure rise and efficiency are effected by change of the geometric parameter of impeller and casing, and stripper clearance under various mass flow. Hydrodynamic performance were evaluated, and also the inner flow fields were investigated by CFD. Calculated results show good coincidence with experimental test results of total pressure performance. Performance of model designed by parametric calculations satisfied experimental data of verification model.

  • The performance behavior of solid oxide fuel cell using reformate gas as fuels was investigated. When the pre-reformate gas was used without steam, the maximum power density was 50% lower than that using H2. This may be due to carbon deposition caused by the pyrolysis of remaining hydrocarbons. However, when the steam was added, the maximum power density showed a relatively small variation according to reformate gas. When pre-reformate gas with steam was fed into anode, the SOFC showed the stable performance without sharp voltage drop during 10h operation.

  • 본 연구에서는 감광유리를 이용한 PEM 마이크로 연료전지 바이폴라 플레이트의 제작 공정을 확립하고 성능 측정을 수행하였다. 감광유리는 무게가 가볍고 내화학성이 뛰어나며 제작이 용이하다. 비등방성 식각, 열 및 UV 접합, 그리고 금속 층 적층을 통한 MEMS 제작 공정이 확립되었다. 성능 측정 결과 활성화 영역에 은이 적층된 마이크로 연료전지의 성능이 그렇지 않은 것보다 우수하였으며 두 경우에서 측정된 마이크로 연료전지의 성능은 모두 국내외 마이크로 연료전지 연구 수준과 동등한 수준이었다.

  • Fuel cell is a modular, high efficient and environmentally energy conversion device, it has become a promising option to replace the conventional fossil fuel based electric power plants. The high temperature fuel cell has conspicuous feature and high potential in being used as an energy converter of various fuel to electricity and heat. Corrosions in molten electrolytes and the electric conductivity across the oxide scale have crucial characteristics. When molten salts are involved, high temperature corrosions become severe. In this sense, corrosions of alloys with molten carbonates have the most severe material problems. Systematic investigation on corrosion behavior of Fe/21Cr/Ti or Al alloy has been done in (62+38)mol% (Li+K)$CO_3$ melt at $650^{\circ}C$ using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method. It was found that the corrosion current of these Fe-based alloys decreased with increasing Al or Ti. And Al addition improved the corrosion resistance of this type of specimen and more improvement of corrosion resistance was observed at the specimen added with Al.

  • Fuel cell is a device for producing electricity by using the hydrogen produced by the fuel processor. At this time, CO is also created by the fuel processor. The resulting CO enters the stack where is produce electricity and leads to the adsorption of anode catalyst, finally the CO poisoning occurs. Stack which occurred CO poisoning has a reduction in performance and shelf life are gradually fall because they do not respond to hydrogen. In this paper, experiments that using a PROX reactor to prevent CO poisoning were carried out for removing the CO concentration to less than 10ppm range available in the fuel cell. Furthermore experiments by the PROX reaction was designed and manufactured with a water-cooling heat exchange reactor to maintain a suitable temperature control due to the strong exothermic reaction.

  • Load variations reduce the lifespan of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). To analyze the impact of load variations on durability of PEFCs, two stacks were built and operated continuously for 400 hours, one under load variations and the other under constant current condition with the same energy output. Using the example model provided by Mathworks, we obtained load variation data for the experiments. The performance curves were measured every 100 hours and analyzed by current interruption method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The degradation comparison shows a much larger decrease in performance under the load variation. The activation resistance, electrical resistance, and mass transfer resistance are all found to increase more.
