고순도 수소함량에 따른 HCNG 연소특성 및 배출가스 영향 평가 (The Effect on the Combustion and Emission Characteristics of HCNG Engine According to the High Purity Hydrogen Contents)

  • This investigation decribes the effect of the combustion and emission characteristics of HCNG engine according to the high purity hydrogen contents. The HCNG fuel was made by the mixture with a high purity hydrogen ($H_2$) and a natural gas. The test vehicle was applied to the bi-fuel (Gasoline and CNG) system and this system was modified from the fuel supply and fuel tank. In addition, the three premixed HCNG fuels with mixed rate of 10, 20 and 30% of hydrogen were used to maintain the safety. In order to analyze the combustion characteristics of HCNG and CNG, the fuel was injected in the combustor with constant volume. The exhaust emission from light duty vehicle with bi-fuel system was analyzed by a chassis dynamometer and emission analyzer. From these results, the reduction rate of NOx emission increased in the HCNG fuel and emission amount of THC and CO shows a similar level with CNG fuel. This study can be utilized the basic data for the development of a new business plans related with HCNG engines.

  • The hybrid system of gas turbine and fuel cell is expected to produce electricity more efficiently than conventional methods, especially in small power applications such as distributed generation. The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is currently the most promising fuel cell for the hybrid system. To realize the conceptual advantages resulting from the hybridization of gas turbine and fuel cell, optimized construction of the whole system must be the most important. In this study, parametric design analyses for pressurized GT/SOFC systems have been peformed considering probable practical limiting design factors such as turbine inlet temperature, fuel cell operating temperature, temperature rise in the fuel cell and soon. Analyzed systems include various configurations depending on fuel reforming type and fuel supply method.

  • Currently, BLDC fuel pump was applied on LPi vehicle using 3rd fuel supply system as liquified phase LPG injection method had already shown better performance than others. Its cost, however, is rather expensive because of drawbacks such as complicated structure, a fault of localization of system. In this work, demonstration system for a developed turbine type fuel pump to replace BLDC system was setup and investigated. This study results that fuel mass flow rate of turbine type pump and injection performance of injector were better compared to BLDC type. Comparing flow rate of summer LPG with that of winter LPG, the flow rate decreased about 25% using winter LPG. Performance applying turbine type LPi fuel pump to engine is confirmed.

직접분사식 바이오 에탄올-가솔린 혼합연료의 연료온도에 따른 분무 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Spray Characteristics of Directly Injected Bio-Ethanol-Gasoline Blended Fuel By Varying Fuel Temperature)

  • As environment problem became a worldwide issue, countries are tightening regulations regarding greenhouse gas reduction and improvement of air pollution problems. With these circumstances, one of the renewable energies produced from biomass is getting attention. Bio-ethanol, which is applicable to SI engine, showed a positive effect on the PFI (Port Fuel Injection) type. However, Ethanol has a problem in homogeneous mixture formation because it has high latent heat of vaporization characteristics and in the GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) type, mixture formation is required quickly after fuel injection. Particularly, South Korea is one of the countries with great temperature variation among seasons. With this reason, South Korea supply fuel additive for smooth engine operation during winter. Therefore, experimental study and investigation about application possibility of blending fuel is necessary. This paper demonstrates the spray characteristics by using the CVC direct injection and setting the bio-ethanol blending fuel temperature close to the temperature during each seasons: -7, 25, $35^{\circ}C$. The diameter and the width of the CVC are 86mm and 39mm. High-pressure fuel supply system was used for target injection pressure. High-speed camera was used for spray visualization. The experiment was conducted by setting the injection pressure and ambient pressure according to each temperature of bio-ethanol blending fuel as a parameter. The result of spray visualization experiment demonstrates that as the temperature of the fuel is lower, the atomization quality is lower, and this increase spray penetration and make mixture formation difficult. Injection strategy according to fuel temperature and bio-ethanol blending rate is needed for improving characteristics.

전력계통에 있어서 분산형 연료전지 발전시스템의 최적 도입계획에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Planning for Dispersed Fuel Cell Generation Systems in Power Systems)

  • Recently, the operation of power systems has become more difficult because the peak demand load is increasing continuously and the daily load factor is getting worse and worse. Also, the consideration of deregulation and global environment in electric power industry is required. In order to overcome those problems, a study on the planning and operation in power systems of dispersed generating sources such as fuel cell systems, photovoltaic systems and wind power systems, has been performed energetically. This paper presents a method for determining an optimal operation strategy of dispersed co-generating sources, especially fuel cell generation systems, considering thermal supply as well as electric power supply. In other words, the optimal operation of those sources can be determined easily by the principle of equal incremental fuel cost and the thermal merit of those sources can be also evaluated quantitatively through Kuhn-Tucker's optimal conditions. In additions, an priority method using the comparison of total cost at the peak load time interval is presented in order ot select the optimal locations of those sources. The validity of the proposed algorithms is demonstrated using a model system.

도로운송부문용 에너지 공급 시스템 설계 및 경제성평가 (Scenario-based Design and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of Energy Supply System for Transportation Sector)

  • 본 연구에서는 다양한 도로운송부문용 에너지 공급 시스템을 구축하고 각 시나리오의 최적 비용을 비교분석하였다. 에너지 공급 시스템의 구성요소로써 기존의 정유공정, 부생수소 시스템, 신재생 에너지 자원 기반의 전력 생산공정, 전력운송을 위한 전력망을 설정하였으며, 내연기관자동차, 전기자동차, 연료전지자동차 등 세 가지의 도로운송부문용 자동차를 포함하였다. 이러한 구성요소를 포함한 다양한 에너지 공급 시스템 시나리오를 기반으로 최적 생애주기비용을 규명할 수 있는 에너지 시스템 평가모델을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 최적화 모델을 제주도 지역에 적용함으로써 모델의 성능을 검증하였고 또한 제주도 지역의 에너지 시스템 구축에 관한 다양한 시나리오의 경제성을 분석하였다. 제주도 도로운송부문용 에너지 공급 시스템의 생애주기비용 분석 결과, 전력망을 이용하여 전기를 공급하는 전기자동차 시나리오가 상대적으로 가장 높은 경제성을 보였으며, 신재생 에너지 자원을 이용하여 수소를 공급하는 연료전지자동차 시나리오가 가장 낮은 경제성을 보였다. 또한 연료비용, 차량비용, 인프라비용, 유지비용 등 주요 비용 관련 변수들에 관한 민감도분석을 수행함으로써 생애주기비용의 변화에 주요한 구성요소들을 규명하였다.

커먼레일 고압분사 시스템 수치 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of High Pressure Common-rail Fuel Injection System)

  • The high pressure common rail injection system offers a high potential for improving emmisions and performance characteristics in large direct diesel engines. High pressures in the common rail with electronic control allows the fuel quantity and injection timing to be optimized and controlled throughout a wide range of engine rpm and load conditions. In this study, high pressure supply pump, common rail, pipes, solenoid and control chamber, and nozzle were modeled in order to predict needle lift, rate of injection, and total injected fuel quantity. When the common rail pressure is raised up to 13.0 ㎫ and the targer injection duration is 1.0ms, the pressure drop in common rail is about 5.0㎫. The angle of effective pressurization is necessary to be optimized for the minimum pump drive torque and high pressure in common rail depending on the operating conditions. The characteristics of injection were also greatly influenced by the pressures in common rail, the areas of the inlet and exit orifice of the control chamber.

남극유 대체연료 적합성 연구 (Study of Alternative Fuel Suitability for Special Antarctic Blend Diesel)

  • 극지방은 혹한의 날씨로 인해 일반 석유제품을 사용할 경우, 석유제품 내 왁스 성분 등이 고체상으로 석출되어 원활한 연료공급 등에 문제발생을 일으킬 수 있다. 따라서 극지방에서 사용하는 석유제품은 혹한의 온도에 적합하게 생산, 판매되고 있지만 해외로부터 공급받고 있어, 수급의 어려움이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 기존 남극유를 대체할 수 있는 석유제품을 검토하기 위해 기존 연료에 대한 연료적 특성을 분석한 뒤, 저온특성이 우수한 항공유에 윤활성 향상제를 일정농도 첨가하여, 남극유 대체연료로서 연료적 특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 윤활성 향상제인 R621A제품의 윤활성이 가장 우수하였으며, 윤활성 향상제 첨가량이 증가할수록 윤활성이 증가하였지만, 1000 mg/L만 첨가하여도 충분한 윤활성 향상효과를 보였다. 따라서 항공유에 윤활성 향상제를 첨가한 대체연료는 극지방의 혹한 기온에서 사용하여도 큰 문제가 없을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 기존의 무정전전원장치(UPS: Uninterruptible Power Supply)는 배터리를 보조전원으로 사용함으로써 큰 부피와 수명에 제한을 받게 될 뿐만 아니라, 급격한 부하변동에 따른 배터리 전압의 변동으로 UPS 시스템 출력에 문제점을 야기한다. 본 논문에서는 보조전원으로 쓰이는 기존의 배터리 대신에 친환경 대체 에너지원인 연료전지를 무정전전원장치용 3상 AC/DC 컨버터에 적용하여 급격한 부하 변동 시 에너지를 보상하고 안정된 출력을 갖도록 하였다.

  • Recently, the hybrid system combining fuel cell and gas turbine has drawn much attention owing to its high efficiency and ultra low emission. It is now on the verge of world wide development and various system configurations have been proposed. A national project funded by Korean government has also been initiated to develop a pressurized hybrid system. This work aims at presenting design performance analysis for various possible system configurations as an initial step for the system development. Study focuses are given to major design options including the power ratio between gas turbine and fuel cell, reforming method (internal or external), reforming heat source (reforming burner, cathode hot air, fuel cell heat release) and steam supply method for reformer (anode gas recirculation, external steam generator). A wide variation in performance among different configurations has been predicted.
