액침법에 의한 바이오디젤유의 액적분포에 관한 연구 (A Study on Droplet Distribution of Bio Diesel Fuels Using Immersion Sampling Method)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the droplet distribution and Sauter mean diameter(SMD) of biodiesel fuel, using the immersion sampling method. This method involves using an optical microscope and a CCD camera, to take an image of the droplets. These images are then measured by using a 'Sigma Scan' processing program. The results of the above experiment are summarized as followed ; (1) There can be as much as a 10% error rate when measuring the diameter of these droplets, using the image processing method and the naked eye. (2) The result of droplet size distribution test, TVO(transesterified vegetable oil) big size droplet distribution were increased at ambient pressure $6kg/cm^2$. (3) When ambient pressure increased $6kg/cm^2$ above, SMD variation of TVO and UVO(used vegetable oil) 30 are small. (4) On Rosin-Rammler analysis, droplets size distribution of UVO(used vegetable oil) 30 uniform more than TVO 20 on ambient pressure $1kg/cm^2$.

  • 반복적인 작동/멈춤에 의해 고분자전해질 연료전지의 성능 감소가 촉진되며, 이는 연료전지 자동차의 상용화를 위해 반드시 해결되야 한다. 고분자전해질 연료전지 스택의 운전을 정지했을 때 연료극 유로에는 수소가, 공기극 유로에는 공기가 남아 있어 연료전지가 열림회로 전위 상태에 한동안 유지되며 이로 인해 촉매의 소결이 촉진되고 과산화수소 라디칼이 형성되어 전해질를 분해시키는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 반복적인 작동/멈춤이 따라 고분자전해질 연료전지의 성능 감소와 막-전극 접합체의 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하고, 운전 정지 시 잔존 수소를 제거함으로써 연료전지 스택의 내구성을 향상시키는 방법을 제안하였다.

  • Electric vehicles are taken a long time to charge and are restricted driving where charging infrastructure was not sufficiently constructed. The vehicle developed to solve these problems is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. It is possible to drive a certain distance by using electric motor and when the battery runs out, it operate the engine. Plug-in hybrid vehicle have a complicated structure and a lot of parts comparing a general vehicle because the electric parts and the internal combustion engine are installed together. Therefore, as the aging (mileage) of the plug-in hybrid vehicle, the influence which change of fuel consumption is expected to be larger than a general vehicle, but an experimental data are lacking. In this paper, we cumulate a mileage of the plug-in hybrid vehicle about 15,000 km and measured the fuel economy when the cumulated distance reached within 160 km, 6,500 km, 15,000 km respectively, by using domestic public test method. For measuring fuel economy of the vehicle, CD mode (driving distance on a single charge) which use only motor and the CS mode which operate motor and combustion engine were measured respectively. As a result, the fuel economy slightly increased at cumulated mileage of 6,500 km compared to the 160 km and the fuel economy of 15,000 km was similar to 160 km.

Experimental Study on Comparison of Flame Propagation Velocity for the Performance Improvement of Natural Gas Engine

  • Natural gas possesses several characteristics that make it desirable as an engine fuel; 1)lower production cost, 2)abundant commodity and 3)cleaner energy source than gasoline. Due to the physics characteristics of natural gas, the volumetric efficiency and flame speed of a natural gas engine are lower than those of a gasoline engine, which results in a power loss of $10-20{\%}$ when compared to a normal gasoline engine. This paper describes the results of a research to improve the performance of a natural gas engine through the modification and controls of compression ratio, air/fuel ratio, spark advance and supercharging and method of measuring flame propagation velocity. It emphasizes how to improve the power characteristics of a natural gas engine. Combustion characteristics are also studied using an ion probe. The ion probe is applied to measure flame speed of gasoline and methane fuels to confirm the performance improvement of natural gas engine combustion characteristics.

Trend Monitoring of A Turbofan Engine for Long Endurance UAV Using Fuzzy Logic

  • The UAV propulsion system that will be operated for long time at more than 40,000ft altitude should have not only fuel flow minimization but also high reliability and durability. If this UAV propulsion system may have faults, it is not easy to recover the system from the abnormal, and hence an accurate diagnostic technology must be needed to keep the operational reliability. For this purpose, the development of the health monitoring system which can monitor remotely the engine condition should be required. In this study, a fuzzy trend monitoring method for detecting the engine faults including mechanical faults was proposed through analyzing performance trends of measurement data. The trend monitoring is an engine conditioning method which can find engine faults by monitoring important measuring parameters such as fuel flow, exhaust gas temperatures, rotational speeds, vibration and etc. Using engine condition database as an input to be generated by linear regression analysis of real engine instrument data, an application of the fuzzy logic in diagnostics estimated the cause of fault in each component. According to study results. it was confirmed that the proposed trend monitoring method can improve reliability and durability of the propulsion system for a long endurance UAV to be operated at medium altitude.

자동차 환경검사에 의한 대기오염물질 배출계수 및 연비 산출 (Emission Factor and Fuel Economy Calculation Using Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program)

  • An objective of this study is to give practical information that could be used for calculating pollutant emission factors and fuel economy from Korean Inspection & Maintenance program, which has been using steady state acceleration simulation mode. Concentration results from I/M test is adequately converted to mass emission factors and fuel efficiency data, which have unit of g/km and km/L, respectively. Exhaust volume flow(EVF), which is for converting emission result from concentration to mass, is measured by tracer method in various vehicle speed - power condition. It is found that there is an apparent second order relationship between EVF and vehicle inertia weight. EVF is expressed in function of vehicle inertia weight in order to estimate EVF in I/M site without measuring device. Converted mass emission results from measured EVF and raw emission analyzer show a satisfactory agreement with those from conventional CVS-bag type measurement system. Mass emission factors and fuel efficiency from measured EVF and estimated EVF also show good agreement to each other. Considering that an I/M program has great advantages to recruit-based emission test in terms of the number of test vehicle, the information in this study can be used for developing an alternative procedure to collect more various data to establish national database of mobile emission factors and fuel economy, even though the driving cycle in I/M program is steady state cycle rather than transient cycle.

음이온교환막 적용을 위한 이온교환입자의 합성 및 특성평가 (Synthesis and Characterization of Ion Exchange Particles for Application of Anion Exchange Membrane)

  • 본 연구에서는 현탁중합을 통해 이온교환입자를 합성하였다. 또한 음이온 교환막을 제조하기 위해 brominated poly(phenylene oxide) (Br-PPO)로 교환막 합성을 진행하였으며, 합성한 이온교환입자를 Br-PPO에 첨가하여 음이온 교환막에 성능을 향상시키고자 하였고, 이를 적용하여 음이온 교환막 연료전지 시스템의 성능 평가를 진행했다. 이온교환입자는 FT-IR, TGA 및 UTM을 통해 구조 분석, 열적 기계적 특성을 평가하였다. Br-PPO는 NMR을 통해 화학적 구조 분석 및 합성여부를 확인하였고, 음이온 교환막 연료 전지 셀 테스트를 진행하기 전 이온전도도와 이온교환용량, 팽윤도 및 수분함수율을 측정해 연구되고 있는 다른 음이온 교환막들과 비교를 통해 성능을 평가했다. 최종적으로 가장 성능이 우수했던 이온교환입자를 0.7 wt%를 첨가한 Br-PPO-TMA- SDV 음이온 교환막을 연료전지 시스템에 도입하여 상용 막인 FAA-3-50과 성능을 비교했다.

  • 극초음속 비행체에서는 공기와의 마찰열과 엔진열의 증가로 기체 내부의 열적 부하가 발생한다. 이는 비행체 내부 구조물의 변형을 일으키고 오작동을 발생시킬 수 있다. 흡열연료는 액체 탄화수소 연료로써 흡열반응을 통해 열을 흡수할 수 있는 연료이다. 본 연구에서는 실제 반응조건과 비슷한 Packed bed flow reactor에서 Exo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene를 연료로 사용하여 촉매의 흡열량을 측정하는 방법에 대한 연구를 진행하였다.

  • 용해공정의 경우, 용해물을 균일한 상태로 유지하고 용해로에 투입되는 연료의 연소상황을 분석하기 위해 폐가스 유속을 측정한다. 현재 시중에 많은 종류의 기체유속 측정장치들이 있지만, 용해공정에서 발생하는 폐가스는 고온이고, 저속이며, dust를 많이 갖고 있어 기존의 측정장치들은 이런 조건에 적합하지 않다. 따라서 저속에 반응할 만큼 충분히 정밀하고 고온에 견딜 수 있는 새로운 방식의 측정장치를 제작하였다. 현장테스트 결과, 제작된 측정 장치는 유속의 작은 변화에도 반응할 정도로 충분히 민감하고 온도변화를 빠르게 감지하기 때문에 용해로의 온도제어에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.
