원관의 냉각면에서의 착상 (Frost formation on a cold cylinder surface in cross flow)

  • This paper presents a semi-empirical model to predict the frost growth formed on the cold cylinder surface. The model is composed of the correlations for frost properties including the various frosting parameters and local heat transfer coefficient. The effects of varying the correlations for local heat transfer coefficient on the frost growth are examined to establish the model. The numerical results are compared with experimental data obtained by the previous researchers. The results agree well with the experimental data within a maximum error of 13%. As the results, the frost thickness decreases with changing angular position from front stagnation to separation point. Also the effects of air velocity on the frost growth are negligible, as compared to the other frosting parameters.

선박의 항로추종을 위한 LOS 가이던스 시스템의 제안 (A Proposal of an LOS Guidance System of a Ship for Path Following)

  • This paper proposes an LOS(line-of-sight) guidance system of a ship for path following. From the viewpoint of a control configuration, guidance is a special type of compensation algorithm that is placed in front of the controller to accomplish navigational objects. A guidance system generates a reference trajectory for trajectory tracking or path control and decides the desired velocity, position and heading angle. A control system executes commands based on a reliable guidance law during navigation. An LOS vector from the vessel to a point on the path between two way-points in straight-line navigation or a point among turning circle in turning navigation is selected, and then a heading angle is calculated to converge the desired path based on the LOS vector. The LOS guidance law is defined for the straight-line and the turning circle, respectively. The effectiveness of the suggested LOS guidance system is assured through computer simulation.

FLOW CHARACTERISTICS OF A TWO-DIMENSIONAL NEUTRALLY BUOYANT JET IN A MODEL SETTLING TANK

  • In this study, laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the flow characteristics of a two-dimensional neutrally buoyant jet in the inlet region of a rectangular laboratory settling tank. Velocity measurements were made with a three-component ADV. Two types of baffles were installed in front of two-dimensional slot; a one-sided and a two-sided baffle. The flow fields from a plane jet impinging on these two types of baffles and a plane jet without a baffle showed quite different characteristics. To concentrate on investigating these flow characteristics, the effects of density currents due to temperature difference or the presence of sediments were not studied. Results of the experiments reveal that the use of the two-sided baffle results in the shortest inlet region. Also shown is that, in addition to the types of baffles, the Froude number turns out to be an important factor in the extent of the inlet region.

  • The computer simulation techniques were adopted to evaluate effects of seating positions of passenger under the various accident scenarios. The baseline of computer simulation model was tunned by the sled impact tests which conducted under the upright and standard seating positions. This study shows the effect of relative velocity between occupant and struck vehicle while occupant is impacted to a front seat's seatback. Although, base on the current accident scenarios, KHST is performed well enough to protect average adult male occupants. However, Results from the tests indicate small size occupant or higher impact speed may cause sever neck and femur injuries.

실리콘 태양전지 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Optimal Design of Silicon Solar Cell)

  • In this work, we used the PCID simulator for simulation of solar cell and examined the effect of front-back surface recombination velocity, minority carrier diffusion length, junction depth and emitter sheet-resistance. As the effect of base thickness, the efficiency decreased by the increase in series resistance with the increase of the thickness and found decrease in efficiency by decrease of the current as the effect of the recombination. Also, as the effect of base resistivity, the efficiency increased somewhat with the decrease in resistivity, but when the resistivity exceeded certain value, the efficiency decreased as a increase in the recombination ratio. The optimum efficiency was obtained at the resistivity 0.5 $\Omega$-cm, and thickness $100\mu\textrm{m}$. We have successfully achieved 10.8% and 13.7% efficiency large area($103mm{\times}103mm$) mono-crystalline silicon solar cells without and with PECVD silicon nitride antireflection coating.

  • In the low pressure selective catalytic reduction (LP SCR) system, the uniformity of both ammonia concentration and exhaust gas flow at the SCR catalyst layer are important design factor for the efficient SCR-deNOx performance. According to the shape of the guide vane and static mixer, numerical simulations were conducted to analyze flow patterns and finally to find out the appropriate alternative for uniform flow at the front of catalyst in the real scale LP SCR reactor. The variations of gas velocity and ammonia concentration were quantitatively evaluated. Based on the present results, the shape was devised to satisfy the design criteria.

가변 원형 베일러의 결속 기구 제어 장치 개발 (Development of a Tying-Unit Controller for a Variable Chamber Round Baler)

  • This study was conducted to develop a control unit for a tying device of a variable chamber round baler. The work process of the tying device was thoroughly analyzed and the control sequence was established according to the work process. Based on this control sequence, a control unit using an 8 bit microprocessor AT 89C52 as a CPU was developed. The driving circuit to control the actuator motion was developed and the PWM method was used to regulate the velocity of the actuator. On the front panel of the control unit, indicators were also installed to show the operations being conducted. A prototype of the developed control unit was manufactured and tested. A total of 50 complete cycles of the control sequence was repeated and no failure was observed. It was evaluated that the developed control unit has an excellent performance and can be used practically for variable chamber round balers.

  • In this paper, the HILS system is proposed for the AWS ECU of the bi-modal tram. Using the HILS of the AWS ECU, the behavior of the vehicle can be predicted and the reliability of the AWS system also can be verified. The hardware part of the HILS system includes the ECUs, hydraulic systems, steering linkages and sensors of the bi-modal tram. The software part of the HILS system contains the virtual vehicle model and sensor emulation. Driver input conditions, such as vehicle velocity and front steering angle, are provided to the ECUs by the software. The driving simulation of the bi-modal tram is carried out by the HILS. Also, the reliability of the AWS system, including the ECUs and hydraulic systems, is verified.

Impact resistant properties of Kagome truss reinforced composite panels

  • This paper presents an experimental study exploring impact resistant properties of Kagome truss reinforced composite panels. Three types of panels with different materials and reinforcements, i.e., ultra-high-performance mortar, steel fiber, and Kagome truss, were designed and manufactured. High-velocity projectile impact tests were performed to investigate the impact response of panels with dimensions of 200 mm×200 mm×40 mm. The projectile used in the testing was a steel slug with a hemispherical front; the impact energy was 1 557 J. Test results showed that the Kagome truss reinforcement was effective at improving the impact resistance of panels in terms of failure patterns, damaged area, and mass loss. Synergy effects of a combination of Kagome truss and fiber reinforcements for the improvement of impact resistance capacity of ultra-high-performance mortar were also observed.

구형 비상체에 의한 충격하중을 받는 강섬유보강 콘크리트 패널의 손상특성 (Face Damage Characteristic of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Panels under High-Velocity Globular Projectile Impact)

  • 본 연구는 섬유혼입률 및 패널 두께가 구형비상체 충격에 의한 강섬유보강 콘크리트(SFRC) 패널의 손상특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 실시되었다. 실험체는 $200{\times}200mm$의 각형 패널로 계획하였으며, 두께는 30 및 50 mm로 설정하였다. 비상체는 직경 20 mm의 강재이며, 속도는 350 m/s로 실험을 실시하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 SFRC의 역학적 특성과 내충격 성능의 상호관계를 평가하였다. SFRC의 역학적특성은 압축강도, 파괴계수 및 재료의 인성을 평가하였다. 비상체 충격에 의한 패널의 전면손실률은 압축인성이 증가함에 따라 감소하였고, 파괴계수 및 휨인성이 향상됨에 따라 배면손실률이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 강섬유보강 콘크리트의 동적특성 평가를 위하여, 상용 프로그램인 ABAQUS/Explicit를 사용하여 유한요소해석을 실시하였다. 해석결과 파괴양상이 유사한 경우 전면 및 배면손실률을 잘 예측하는 것으로 나타났다.
