The friction test using disk-on-pad type was carried out and regression analysis with friction parameters was applied fur wear loss presumption of motorcycle break disk. The wear loss has an effect on the frictional factor such as applied load, sliding speed, and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factors on wear loss of motorcycle break disk. From this study, the result was shown that the regression analysis equation containing 4 elements were constructed and this equation had a trust of 95% in wear loss presumption of motorcycle break disk. It is possible to apply for another automobile parts.
This Research have suggested the new estimation method using parameter estimation algorithm to substitute established velocity and friction factor calculation equation. Established calculation equation has some difficulties for estimation and reflecting exactly flow specification cause parameter uncertainty and material uncertainty governed real phenomenon, so this research has used system modeling method for flow specification estimation and suggested estimation method.

A numerical model for harbour oscillation is presented by use of Galerkin finite element method. The governing equation is used by the modified mild slope equation derived from Chen (1986) in which bottom friction is incorporated. Since the existing absorbing boundary condition. however. is shown to be incorrect correct boundary condition and forcing term due to an incident plane wave are rederived. Computation results for a rectangular harbour are shown in comparison with both laboratory data and existing numerical results. After the values of friction factor (f) and reflection coefficient (K$_{r}$) are discussed, the set (K$_{r}$=0, 94, f=0) is found to be best fitted to the laboratory data of the rectangular harbour.
A numerical model of surface runoff and river flow has been applied to small- and large-size catchment areas in order to investigate the physical characteristics of river flow during flood period. Several refinements are made on the existing model SIRG-RS for the ways of rainfall input through surface runoff, river junction treatment and the computation of river flow on steep slope. For the computation of frictional forces, employed is the power law of friction factor which is a function of Reynolds number and relative roughness height. The empirical equation of friction factor is developed using recent field data as well as laboratory data. The refined model has been applied to small-size catchment area as well as large-size catchment area, and the computation results are found in good agreement with the observations in both cases.
The pressure drop characteristics of R-22 and R-410A(a mixture of 50wt% R-32 and 50wt% R-125) flowing in a small diameter tube with 1.77[mm] inner diameter and 3.14[mm] outer diameter was investigated experimentally. the mass fluxes of refrigerants are ranged from 450 to $1050[kg/(m^2{\cdot}s)]$ and the qualites are varied from 0.05 to 0.95. The main experimental results were summarized as follows; The single-phase liquid friction factors for small diameter tubes are higher than those predicted by the Blasius equation. In case of two-phase flow, the pressure gradient of the small diameter tube increases with increasing mass velocity and vapor quality. The experimental data are not well correlated by predictions which were proposed for the large diameter tube.

In the study, the flow stress of material and friction condition were determined by using the cylinder compression test and numerical method. We proposed the flow stress equation including the initial yield strength to predict it from the upper bound method. The upper bound technique uses the velocity field which includes two unknowns to effectively express bulging. Also, inverse engineering technique uses the object function to minimize area enclosed by load-stroke curve. The friction factor is determined from the radius of curvature of the barrel by cylinder compression test. Flow stress and initial yield strength predicted from the above techniques are verified through the finite element simulation.
According to the improvement of computer's performance, the development of Geographic Information System (GIS), and the activation of offering information, a distributed model for analyzing runoff has been studied a lot in recently years. The distribution model is a theoretical and physical model computing runoff as making target basin subdivided parted. In the distributed model developed by this study, the volume of runoff at the surface flow is calculated on the basis of the parameter determined by landcover data and a two-dimensional diffusion wave equation. Most of existing runoff models compute velocity and discharge of flow by applying Manning-Strickler's mean velocity equation and Manning's roughness coefficient. Manning's roughness coefficient is not matched with dimension and ambiguous at computation; Nevertheless, it is widely used in because of its convenience for use. In order to improve those problems, this study developed the runoff model by applying not only Manning-Strickler's equation but also Chezy's mean velocity equation. Furthermore, this study introduced a power law of exponential friction factor expressed by the function of roughness height. The distributed model developed in this study is applied to 6 events of fan-shape basin, oblong shape test basin and Anseongcheon basin as real field conditions. As a result the model is found to be excellent in comparison with the exiting runoff models using for practical engineering application.
A 1D numerical model for steady flow, based on the energy equation, was developed for natural rivers with emergent vegetations on floodplains and banks. The friction slope was determined by the friction law of Darcy-Weisbach. The composite friction factor of the each cross section was calculated by considering bottom roughness of the main channel and the floodplains, the flow resistance of vegetations, the apparent shear stress and the flow resistance caused by the momentum transfer between vegetated areas and non-vegetated areas. The interface friction factor caused by flow interaction was calculated by empirical formulas of Mertens and Nuding. In order to verify the accuracy of the suggested model, water surface elevations were calculated by using imaginary compound channels and the results of calculations were compared with that of the HEC-RAS. The sensitivity analysis was performed to confirm changed friction factors by vegetations density etc. The suggested model was applied to the reach of the Enz River in Germany, and estimated water surface elevations of the Enz River were compared with measured water surface elevations. This model could acceptably compute not only water surface elevations with low discharge but also that with high discharge. So, the suggested model in this study verified the applicability in natural rivers with emergent vegetations.
A multi-purpose research reactor called KMRR has been developed by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) to generate a maximum thermal output of 30 MW. As a part of thermal hydraulics study, pressure drop characteristics of the longitudinally finned fuel rod bundles were experimentally investigated in a recirculating water test loop. The present study is focused on the investigation of fin effects on pressure drop and the development of pressure drop correlation for the finned rod bundles in a wide range of flow conditions. Friction factor correlations for each design of the finned rod bundles are developed. The value of friction factor for the finned rod bundles was higher than the analytical solution (64/Re) of laminar circular channel new but became lower than the Blasius equation as Reynolds number was increased.

Pipeline transport of dredged soils has been widely used for reclamation. In this case the fluid mixed with soils, so called slurries, has very much different characteristics from pure fluids. As the slurry fluid has a peculiar mode in the viscosity, a proper equation of friction factor has to be used which is pertinent to the characteristics of slurry flow for the estimation of pipeline transport of dredged soils. The slurry fluid has the characteristics of Newtonian fluid or non-Newtonian fluid largely depending on the size of particles. In the present study, new forms of pipe friction factor equations have been suggested for both conditions, and using these forms explicit equations have been developed for the computation of relevant pipe diameter and discharge as well as pumping power.
