  • This paper proposes a method to generate a stereoscopic image pair from a digital hologram by considering the situation that digital hologram data is serviced but the end-user does not have the proper display equipment, etc. We use Fresnel transform as the method to convert a digital hologram into an image. Each image of the stereoscopic image pair uses a part of the given digital hologram and the sizes of the two partial digital holograms for the two images are chosen to be the same. Here, the size of the image is adjusted by the size of the partial digital hologram and the disparity between the pair images is adjusted by the distance between the centers of the two partial hologram. This paper also deals with how to adjust the size and the disparity of the images. In this paper the generated stereoscopic images are implemented as an anaglyphic display type to confirm the feeling of distance by wearing the red-blue glasses.

  • Microfluidic devices can offer precise control for a verity of tasks involving biological specimen. In this paper, we propose an integrated system consisting of a microfluidic device along with a digital holographic microscope and present three-dimensional (3D) sensing and segmentation of biological microorganisms. When the individual microorganisms are inputted into the microfluidic channel, the holographic microscope records their holograms. The holograms are computationally reconstructed in 3D using Fresnel transform and the reconstructed phase images are used to search the position of microorganisms. Optical experiments are carried out and experimental results are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed system.

  • In this study, seismic anisotropic tomography algorithm was developed for imaging the seismic velocity anisotropy of the subsurface. This algorithm includes several inversion schemes in order to make the inversion process stable and robust. First of all, the set of the inversion parameters is limited to one slowness, two ratios of slowness and one direction of the anisotropy symmetric axis. The ranges of the inversion parameters are localized by the pseudobeta transform to obtain the reasonable inversion results and the inversion constraints are controlled efficiently by ACB(Active Constraint Balancing) method. Especially, the inversion using the Fresnel volume is applied to the anisotropic tomography and it can make the anisotropic tomography more stable than ray tomography as it widens the propagation angle coverage. The algorithm of anisotropic tomography is verified through the numerical experiments. And, it is applied to the real field data measured at limestone region and the results are discussed with the drill log and geological survey data. The anisotropic tomography algorithm will be able to provide the useful tool to evaluate and understand the geological structure of the subsurface more reasonably with the anisotropic characteristics.

  • In this paper, we implement Frenelet transform for decomposition of the fringe pattern and analyze its characteristics. The implemented wavelet-like basis functions are well suited for reconstruction and processing of optically generated Fresnel holograms. After analyzing the characteristics of the B-spline function, we will discuss the wavelet-like multi-resolution analysis method. Through this process, we implemented a transform tool that can decompose fringe patterns effectively. We have implemented a B-spline function with various decomposition properties and showed the results of decomposing the fringe pattern.

시각적으로 유사한 특성을 갖는, 즉 상관성을 갖는 세그먼트들을 하나의 비디오 스트림으로 구성하고 MCTF(Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering)을 적용한다.

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the performance of a concentrating photovoltaic cell (CPV) against temperature. It is know that a high efficiency of a CPV can be achieved only with proper cell temperature as well as high concentration ratio (CR). This study is concerned with appropriate cooling condition for a liquid-convection cooler for the best performance of a specific CPV. A series of experiments was conducted in a range of cell temperatures as a result of varying cooling conditions, while the concentration ratio was 390 and the solar irradiation flux was higher than 900 $W/m^2$ in outdoor environment. The CPV had a planar dimension of 10 by 10 mm. A Fresnel lens was used as a concentrator, of which the dimension was 221 mm(W) ${\times}$ 221 mm(L) ${\times}$ 3 mm(t) and the transmissivity was known to be 0.8. The cooler was attached to the bottom side of the CPV and had a contact area of 21 mm(W) ${\times}$ 26 mm(L), which was identical to the size of the base plate of the CPV. The coolant temperature was controlled by an isothermal bath and the flow rate was controlled and measured by a flowmeter. The experimental results showed that the average of power efficiency of the CPV decreased from 28.6 % to 24.7 % as the cell temperature increased from $36^{\circ}C$ to $97^{\circ}C$. An appropriate cooling method of a CPV might increase the power conversion efficiency by about 4% for the same concentration ratio. Discussion is included from the viewpoint of the combined efficiency in addition to the power efficiency.

  • We have studied about spatial wavefront analysis of a pulsed laser output beam by means of an imaging unstable ring resonator with an infinite Fresnel number. We have constructed a Newtonian telescope type NBUR (Negative Branch Unstable Ring) Nd:YAG laser with 4 plane mirrors. Provided that the NBUR resonator is under self imaging condition, the resonator could be reduced diffraction effects which were occuring to the beam transmitting through the circular aperture of scraper mirror in the resonator. We have observed enhancement in the spatial coherence of wavefronts of laser beam due to the iterative round trips of the self imaging beam inside the ring resonator. The information on the spatial wavefronts was determined by the fringe patterns from Mach-Zehnder interferometer and the fringe analysis by means of the Fourier transform method showed the distortion of wavefronts of less than 0.2), In comparison with a standing wave type resonator, we have confirmed that the spatial coherence of the NBUR Nd:YAG laser output beam was enhanced as much as 75%. s 75%.

  • A method of calculation fur propagating and focusing of focused beams generated in antenna arrays, using BPM(Beam Propagation Method), is presented in this paper. Based on the diffraction theory, the beam focusing and Propagation is studied specially for the case of the antenna way fed by the Rotman lens that is able to focus microwave power on its focal arc or generate multiple beams. There are difficulties in performing a full-wave simulation using a commercial EM simulation tool for propagating and focusing of beams because of the structural complexity and the feeding assignment of the antenna array. Therefore, as an alternative solution, the BPM is presented to calculate the beam propagation from the aperture-type antennas. From the point of view of optics, the propagations of the lens have been simplified from the Fresnel diffraction integral to the Fourier transform. Using Fourier Transform, a beam propagation method is developed to show improvement of the resolution by controlling the wavefront of wave Propagating from an aperture-type antenna array. The beam width(or spot size) and the intensity are calculated for a focused beam propagating from an array having $10\lambda$ of its size. For the beams with $20\lambda,\;30\lambda$, and $50\lambda$ of geometrical focal length, the half-power beam widths(or spot size) are about 1.1\lambda,\;1.3\lambda,\;and\;1.9\lambda$ respectively.

  • In this Paper, Double Encryption Technology Based on Phase-Shifting Digital Holography and Digital Watermarking is Proposed. For the Purpose, we First Set a Logo Image to be used for Digital Watermark and Design a Binary Phase Computer Generated Hologram for this Logo Image using an Iterative Algorithm. And Random Generated Binary Phase Mask to be set as a Watermark and Key Image is Obtained through XOR Operation between Binary Phase CGH and Random Binary Phase Mask. Object Image is Phase Modulated to be a Constant Amplitude and Multiplied with Binary Phase Mask to Generate Object Wave. This Object Wave can be said to be a First Encrypted Image Having a Pattern Similar to the Noise Including the Watermark Information. Finally, we Interfere the First Encrypted Image with Reference Wave using 2-step PSDH and get a Good Visible Interference Pattern to be Called Second Encrypted Image. The Decryption Process is Proceeded with Fresnel Transform and Inverse Process of First Encryption Process After Appropriate Arithmetic Operation with Two Encrypted Images. The Proposed Encryption and Decryption Process is Confirmed through the Computer Simulations.
