  • The purpose of this study is to materialize the viscosity sensor by using the SH-SAW sensor of which the center frequency is operated at higher than 50 MHz. In order to measure the viscosity, SAW sensor of which the center frequency is operated at 100 MHz is developed. By using the developed sensor, phase shift, delay time, insertion loss, and frequency variation are measured at different viscosity. The result shows that the phase shift difference between the viscosity variations is such that the difference between the distilled water and the 100 % glycerol solution is approximately $45^{\circ}$, the change of the insertion loss is approximately 9 dB, and the difference of frequency variation is approximately 5.9 MHz. Therefore, it is shown that viscosity of unknown solution can be measured with the surface acoustic wave sensor.

  • Conventional PW Doppler systems suffer from the ambiguity of measured blood velocities due to the spectrum aliasing when the corresponding Doppler frequencies are greater than the Nyquist frequency. Base-line shift is a customary method for dealiasing the Doppler spectrums. I lowever, Doppler audio signals still remain unchanged even when the base-line shift method is applied. This paper de scribes an method for dealiasing both the Doppler spectra and audio signals by using sampling rate expansion, frequency shifting, and filtering poerations. For undirectional flows, the method can increase the maximum detectable Doppler frequency from the Nyquist limit of one-half of the Pulse Repetition Frequency(PRF) to the PRF. Experiments with real data have been performed to verify the proposed method.

  • We fabricated the QCM with Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film deposited at the different subphase pH and investigated the resonant frequency response by the injection of organic gas response. In the $\pi$-A isotherms, the monolayer on the air/water interface had different limiting area per molecule and showed more condensed status as increasing the subphase pH. When palmitic acid LB film was deposited on the QCM, the resonant frequency shift was proportional to the deposited layer and had more resonant frequency shift in the case of the higher pH range as expected. In the resonant frequency for the injection of organic gas, it has been improved in the case of LB film fabricated at the lower subphase pH range and dependant upon the molecular weight of organic gas.

  • Laser Doppler Vibrometer using heterodyne method with a 632.8 nm He-Ne laser, has been developed for the measurement of small displacement and velocity. The measurement uses heterodyne method can be made insensitive to undesired vibration effect acting the system and can yield the sign of Doppler shift at the expense of increased complexity. A Bragg cell gives a frequency shift of 40MHz for heterodyne method. Frequency Modulated output is detected by spectrum analyzer.

  • This study presents work to utilize RADARSAT SAR image for forecast oil slick trajectory movement. The fractal dimension algorithm used to detect oil slick. The Doppler frequency shift and quasi-linear model was used to simulate a current pattern from RADARSAT image. The Fay’s algorithm of oil slick spreading was developed based on a Doppler frequency shift model. Thus, the study shows that fractal dimension algorithm discriminated the oil slick from the surrounding water features. The quasi-linear model shows that the current pattern can be simulated from single RADARSAT image. The oil slick trajectory model shows that after 48 hrs, the oil slick parcels deposited along the coastal waters.

  • This paper presents the Doppler Scanning technique which enables us to detect the relative positions of moving distributed sources using Doppler frequency shift estimate when the moving source consists of distributed sources with different signature frequencies. Doppler frequency shifts of characteristic frequencies of machinery noise sources such as ship's generator and propeller, with tine along CPA (Closest Point of Approach of moving source) are unique, and can be functioned with respect to each source position. Therefore, this technique can be applied to estimate the relative geometrical positions between machinery noise sources. The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) which has a high frequency resolution with high time resolution, is adopted for improving accuracy of Doppler frequency shift estimate geometric resolution of machinery positions since machinery noise sources show in general low frequency band characteristics with limited spacial distance. The performance of the technique is examined by the numerical simulations and is verified by the experiment using loudspeaker sources on the roof of the car.

  • The main characteristics of the underwater acoustic channel have varying multipath and fast fading. Especially, Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) signals with multiple frequency bands caused loss of information bits allocated on the specific frequencies due to selective fading phenomenon. Therefore, this paper proposes frequency gain control algorithm based on preamble error rates. The proposed algorithm estimates optimal gain value in the range of preamble error rate with less than 10 % for specific faded frequency. By employing turbo equalized FSK signals with rate of 1/3, the experiment was conducted on a lake in Munkyeong city with distance of 300 m to 500 m. The result confirms that packets are decoded successfully by applying proposed algorithm as increasing number of iterations.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to find out the prevalence and risk factors of anemia according to shift work. Methods: Data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey (2016-2020) were used. 9,787 workers were divided into shift workers and non-shift workers. The work type between 6AM-6PM was defined as day work, and other work types were defined as shift work. A chi-square test was used to indicate the distribution of risk factors expected to affect shift work in both frequency and percentage. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to find out the relationship between anemia prevalence and shift work. Results: As a result of analysis, multiple logistic regression analysis of anemia prevalence and shift work, the OR (95% CI) of male workers on shift work was 2.186 (1.139 to 4.194) and there was a statistically significant difference. Conclusions: In conclusion, anemia in male shift workers should be considered a possibility of health problems. In the future, research based on various data collection should be conducted for research to reveal various causes or diseases of anemia in the future.

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to compare the circadian patterns of heart rate variability assessed by 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiographic (ECG) recordings during day shift and night shift among the workers in the 5 days-concecutive-12-hour shift in an automobile factory in Korea. Methods : The study population consisted 300 workers, who were randomly selected among the 8700 total workers in one car factory. To analyse circadian variation, the 24-hour ECG recordings (Marquette) were measured during day shift (08:00-20:00 h) and night shift (20:00-08:00 h). Analysis was performed for all time and frequency domain measures of HRV. 233 workers completed taking 24-hour ECG recordings. Results : This study shows that the 24 hourcircadian variation mainly follows work/sleep cycle rather than day/night cycle among shift workers. This study also shows that among the night shift, the circadian variation between work and sleep cycle decreased compared to the work/sleep cycle among day shift workers. All time and frequency domain parameters (except LF/HF ratio) show significantly different between work and sleep in the day shift and night shift. Conclusion : These changes in heart rate variability circadian rhythms reflect significant reductions in cardiac parasympathetic activity with the most marked reduction in normal vagal activity among the shift workers. Especially, it suggests the circadian rhytm has blunted among the night workers. The quantification of the circadian variation in HRV can be a surrogates of workers' potential health risk, as well as suggests possible mechanisms through which the shift works compromise workers' health.

  • This paper proposes thermometer-code latches having five and six transistors for unidirectional and bidirectional thermometer-code shift-registers, respectively. The proposed latches omit the set and reset transistors by changing from two supply voltage nodes to the set and reset signals in the cross-coupled inverter. They set or reset the data by changing the supply voltage to ground in either of two inverters. They reduce the number of transistors to five and six compared with the conventional thermometer-code latches having six and eight transistors, respectively. The proposed thermometer-code latches were simulated using a 65 nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process. For comparison, the proposed and conventional latches are adapted to the 64 bit thermometer-code shift-registers. The proposed unidirectional and bidirectional shift-registers occupy 140 ㎛2 and 197 ㎛2, respectively. Their consumption powers are 4.6 ㎼ and 5.3 ㎼ at a 100 MHz clock frequency with the supply voltage of 1.2 V. They decrease the areas by 16% and 13% compared with the conventional thermometer-code shift-register.
