Smartphone Based Retouching Method for Watercolor Painting Effect Using Mean Shift Segmentation (Mean Shift Segmentation을 이용한 스마트폰 기반의 수채화 효과 변환 기법)

  • We propose a retouching method that converts a photography taken by smartphone to a watercolor painting image using bilateral filtering and mean shift segmentation which are mostly used in image processing. The first step is to convert an input image to fit the screen resolution of smartphone. And next step is to weaken high frequency components of the image, while preserving the edge of image using the bilateral filtering. And after that we perform mean shift segmentation from the bilateral filtered image. We apply parameters of mean shift segmentation considering the processing speed of smartphone. Experimental result shows that our method can be applied to various types of image and bring better result.

  • In magnetotelluric (MT) surveys, small inhomogeneities near the surface cause a static shift in which apparent resistivities shift regardless of frequency. As the static shift in MT data leads to errors in subsurface structure interpretation, many studies have been conducted over the past few decades to mitigate or remove the distortions it caused. The most representative method involves removing static shifts from the data before inversion. Conversely, static shifts can be corrected during inversion or included in the inversion process. In addition, other geophysical data can be used to remove static shifts. However, the correction methods are limited to one-dimensional (1D) static responses, and limitations remain in two- or three-dimensional (2D or 3D) interpretation of distorted MT data owing to static shifts. This study provides a foundation for future studies on static shift by analyzing several previously published methods.

A Study on the Handwashing of NICU nurses in a University Hospital (일개 대학병원 신생아 중환자실 간호사의 손씻기에 관한 조사 연구)

  • Especially in NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), handwashing is an important factor in decresing nosocomial infections due to reduced immunity, prematurity and various invasive procedures. The purpose of this study was to investigate the basic characteristics related to handwashing by NICU nurses. It was composed of three parts ; questionnaire survey I (genoral characteristics of handwashing), questionnaire survey II(the awareness degree of handwashing importance) and actual performance. This study was performed from Oct. 8 to 14 in 1994. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. Frequency of handwashing were different by shift of working about 47.1% of the respondents. They were washing most frequently during day-shift about 75% of above. According to self evaluation to handwashing frequency, 64.7% of the respondents said their frequency of handwashing was inadequate, because of being too busy.(45.1%), bothering caused by detergent or disinfectant(17.6%), and too far from handwashing facilities(17.6%). 2. The most common handwashing agent was soap(88.2%), 52.9% of the subjects experienced adverse effects after handwashing ; rough hand(44.5%), dryness(33.3%) All subjects washed their hands with running water, and 70.6% of the subjects washed upto wrist. In duration of handwashing, 52.9% of subjects washed hands 5 to 10 seconds, 29.5% of them did 11 to 15 seconds. 3. 29.4% among subjects had participated to take in the handwashing educational program. About 60% responded they would like to take the course of handwashing if possible. 4. The important nursing activities that need handwashing were chaning of caring ostomy, suctioning, chaning IV dressing site. On the other hand, they responded handwashing was not essential before dealing with omitus, before and after transfering machine, before chaning diaper(stool) 5. Handwashing performance was 61.7%. Among seven nursing activities, suctioning(73.4%) was the highest, the next was dealing with discharge or sampling(71.1%), the lowest was bathing(34.6%). The performance was better after(70.2%) nursing activities that before(52.5%), and day(63.6%) or evening(68.3%) shift than night(56.7%)

  • Optical frequency comb generators have been investigated as a signal source capable of generating highly stabilized ultrafast pulse lasers. The precise control of the optical frequency comb spacing by RF clock signals has led to a revolutionary paradigm shift in the precise measurement of time and frequency. Optical frequency combs also have advantages such as stable frequency spacing, stable number of lines, and robustness. Owing to these characteristics, optical frequency combs have been applied to the fields of high precision optical clock, communication, spectroscopy, waveform generation, and astronomy. In this article, we introduce the properties (i.e., generation methods, advantages, and so on) of various optical frequency combs, and discuss the expected future technological trends and applications.

A Study of Methods of Rest for Reduction of The Night Shift Workers′Workload (야간작업자의 작업부담경감을 위한 휴식방법)

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a method of rest to reduce work load of night shift workers for night shift work. The experiment was carried out 10minutes preparing time, 45minutes first work, 10minutes first rest, 45minutes second work, 10minutes second rest between 2 and 4 o'clock that the lowest physiological function of workers. The methods of rest set up as four patterns (1) non-action rest (2) non-action rest + listening music (3) action rest + non-action rest, (4) action rest + non-action rest + listening music. For the measurements of experiment, heart rates(R-R interval), critical flicker fusion frequency(CFF), blood pressure, oral temperature, reaction time and error rates were considered as criteria for work performance. As a result, action rest + non-action rest and action rest + non-action rest + listening music were more effective to reduce work load additional work than non-action rest and non-action rest + listening music.

  • With the advent of the high-speed microprocessor and DSP, the possibility of executing a control strategy in digital domain has become a reality. By the use of the DSP and microprocessor controller, many high power drive system may be enhanced resulting in the improved robustness to EMI, the ability to communicate the operating conditions and the ease of adjusting the control parameters. But, the digital controller using DSP or microprocessor is not applied in the high frequency switching power supplies, especially full bridge DC/DC converter. So, this paper presents the method and realization of designing a digital-to-phase shift PWM circuit for full digital controlled full bridge DC/DC converter with zero voltage switching. The operating principles, simulation and experimental results will be presented.

  • In this paper, we propose an electric circuit using one common-arm of H-Bridge inverters to reduce the number of switching components in the multi-level inverter combined with H-Bridge inverters and transformers. And furthermore, we suggested a new multi-level PWM inverter using PWM level to reduce THD (Total Harmonic Distortion). We use a phase-shift switching method that has the same rate of usage at each transformer. Also, we test the proposed prototype 9-level inverter to clarify the proposed electric circuit and reasonableness of the control signal for the proposed multi-level PWM inverter.

  • 디지털신호의 변조에는 기본적으로 진폭 편이 변조(ASK: Amplitude-Shift Keying), 주파수 편이 변조(FSK: Frequency-Shift Keying), 위상 편이 변조(PSK: Phase-Shift Keying) 등의 세 가지 방법이 있다. 본 논문에서는 표본클록 합성계수 방식에 관한 이론을 고찰하고, 클록초기치 누적방식의 DDFS를 이용하여 위에서 언급한 변조방법을 실현할 수 있는 주파수 도약 대역 확산 통신에 적합한 변조기를 구현하였다. 또한, 합성된 출력주파수 의 정현파형에 대한 스펙트럼 분석과 PN(Pseudo Noise) 부호를 사용한 순시적인 주파수 도 약 상태, 위상제어의 가능성 등을 확인한 결과 실험으로부터 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫 째, 합성된 출력주파수는 주파수 Index에 따라 기준주파수에 정확히 정수배가 되며, 둘째, 합성된 정현파형의 스펙트럼으로 기본파와 여러 고조파의 크기를 비교하여 본 결과 50[dB] 이상의 차이가 남으로서 고조파 성분들이 상당히 감소되었음을 확인하였고, 셋째, PN 코드 를 사용하여 순시적인 주파수 도약 상태를 확인하여 본 결과 스위칭 시간이 빠르기 때문에 주파수 도약 특성이 뛰어남을 알 수 있었으며 또한, 누산기의 set/reset 상태를 변화시킴에 따라 위상이 제어됨을 입증하였다.

Phase-Shift Triple Full-Bridge ZVZCS Converter with All Soft Switched Devices

  • This paper proposes a Phase-Shift Triple Full-Bridge (PSTB) Zero-Voltage Zero-Current-Switching (ZVZCS) converter with a high switching frequency and high efficiency. In the proposed converter, all three bridge legs are shared leading-legs, and all three transformers work in the Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM). Thus, all of the switches and diodes in the PSTB ZVZCS can be soft switched. Moreover, since all of the transformers can pass energy from the primary-side to the secondary-side when their primary-side currents are not zero, there is no circulating current. As a result, the PSTB ZVZCS converter can achieve a high efficiency at high operating frequencies. A theoretical analysis and the characteristics of the proposed converter are presented and verified on a 1MHz 200~300V/24V 1.2kW hardware prototype. The proposed converter can reach a peak efficiency of 96.6%.

  • There is an increasing demand for efficient high power/weight auxiliary power supplies for use on high speed traction application. Many new conversion techniques have been proposed to reduce the voltage and current stress of switching components, and the switching losses in the traditional pulse width modulation(PWM) converter. Especially, the phase shift full bridge zero voltage switching PWM techniques are thought most desirable for many applications because this topology permits all switching devices to operate under zero voltage switching(ZVS) by using circuit parasitic components such as leakage inductance of high frequency transformer and power device junction capacitance. The proposed topology is found to have higher efficiency than conventional soft-switching converter. Also it is easily applicable to phase shift full bridge converter by applying an energy recovery snubber consisted of fast recovery diodes and capacitors.
