  • The concept and results of a simple constant switching frequency delta modulation scheme suitable for DC-AC power conversion in uninterruptable power supply (UPS) applications are presented. Unlike the traditional delta modulation scheme, the scheme has a well defined harmonic spectrum, resulting in a simple filter design and reduced radio interference.

  • In this article, as a way of pursuing high spectral efficiency and flexible cell planning, co-channel dual-polarization techniques are suggested for B-WLL applications. It provides a double down stream capacity compared with conventional scheme and also makes some flexibility in cell planning. In order to implement co-channel B-WLL system, some frequency plans, interference cancellation methods, and system block diagrams are presented here.

  • In this paper, the performance of OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and FMT(Filtered Multi-tone) Systems is compared under jamming environment. Two systems are multi-carrier systems to improve data rates. Through the comparison of two systems under jamming environment, the characteristics and strong/weak points of each system are analyzed.

  • 2.4Ghz ISM 대역에서 동작하는 Bluetooth는 동일한 대역에서 동작하는 WLAN(802.11.b), Cordless phone, microwave oven등의 신호가 interference로 작용하여, 성능이 크게 저하된다. 특히 Bluetooth과 WLAN은 상호간 interference로 작용하여 상호 성능 저하를 초래한다. 따라서, 두 장치간의 coexistence를 위한 방안으로 adaptive hopping frequency(AFH)이 제안되었다. 이 논문에서는 3 channel status를 이용한 AFH 방식을 제안하고, 그 성능을 검증하였다.

Novel Doppler effects compensation schemes based on constellation estimation of OFDM system

  • A new and effective Doppler effects compensation scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplex(OFDM) system based on constellation estimation is presented with analytical descriptions which quantitatively clarify the mechanism of inter-carrier interference(ICI). The proposed compensation techniques, applicable both frequency and time domain with remarkable accuracy, are crucial to the future OFDM system operating on ultra high speed mobile vehicles.

  • 본 논문에서는 동종 또는 이종 무선시스템에 대해 최소결합손실 기반의 주파수 조정을 위한 이론적 모델링 및 계산 결과를 제시한다. 주파수 조정에 핵심 변수들인 시스템 특성, 전파전파 모델, 가용율 및 보호비, 주파수의존제거 또는 인접채널간섭비, 변별각을 고찰하고, 각각에 대해 수치계산 결과를 도출한다. 주파수 조정의 절차를 보이기 위해 도심 또는 부도심에서 간섭원 이동기지국과 피해 고정무선시스템 간의 간섭전력을 분석하며, 가정한 양 시스템 특성에 대해 변별각 및 거리의 함수로 최대허용간섭전력과 간섭 영향을 비교한다. 제시된 방법은 다양한 무선시스템의 주파수 조정에 필요한 상호 공존 또는 양립성을 위한 기술적 분석에 활용이 클 것으로 판단된다.

ITU-R의 이동위성업무 주파수 공유 연구 현황 (ITU-R Study on Frequency Sharing for Mobile Satellite Services)

  • Recently, preparations for 6G have led to the increasing interest in integrated or hybrid communication networks considering low-orbit satellite communication networks with terrestrial mobile communication networks. In addition, the demand for frequency allocation for new mobile services from low-orbit small satellites to provide global internet of things (IoT) services is increasing. The operation of such satellites and terrestrial mobile communication networks may inevitably cause interference in adjacent bands and the same band frequency between satellites and terrestrial systems. Focusing on the results of the recent ITU-R WP4C meeting, this study introduces the current status of frequency sharing and interference issues between satellites and terrestrial systems, and frequency allocation issues for new mobile satellite operations. Coexistence and compatibility studies with terrestrial IMT in L band and 2.6 GHz band, operated by Inmassat and India, respectively, and a new frequency allocation study (WRC-23 AI 1.18) are carried out to reflect satellite IoT demand. For the L band, technical requirements have been developed for emission from IMT devices at 1,492 MHz to 1,518 MHz to bands above 1,518 MHz. Related studies in the 2 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands are not discussed due to lack of contributions at the recent meeting. In particular, concerning the WRC-23 agenda 1.18 study on the new frequency allocation method of narrowband mobile satellite work in the Region 1 candidate band 2,010 MHz to 2,025 MHz, Region 2 candidate bands 1,695 MHz to 1,710 MHz, 3,300 MHz to 3,315 MHz, and 3,385 MHz to 3,400 MHz, ITU-R results show no new frequency allocation to narrow mobile satellite services. Given the expected various collaborations between satellites and the terrestrial component are in the future, interference issues between terrestrial IMT and mobile satellite services are similarly expected to continuously increase. Therefore, participation in related studies at ITU-R WP4C and active response to protect terrestrial IMT are necessary to protect domestic radio resources and secure additional frequencies reflecting satellite service use plans.

효율적인 항공 주파수 대역 분배와 관리 정책 연구 (Policy Study on Efficient Aeronautical Frequency Band Allotment and Management in the Congested Air Traffic Environments)

  • 항공 주파수는 항공 안전을 위한 국제적인 보호 주파수 대역이다. 최근 항공 교통량의 증가로 국제적으로 항공 주파수가 포화되고, 혼잡 대역에서 간섭 영향이 높아지는 추세이다. 본 논문에서는 국내 항공 주파수의 효율적인 분배와 관리를 위하여 미국과 같은 선진국과 일본과 같은 주변국의 항공 주파수 정책을 방문 조사 분석하고, 국내의 항공주파수 운용 현황을 조사 분석하여 향후 효율적인 항공주파수 정책 수립 방안을 제시하였다. 또한, 차세대 항행 장비 도입에 따른 추가적인 항공주파수 대역 확보 방안과 항공 안전을 위한 간섭 및 혼신 현황을 분석하여 지속적인 간섭 감시와 억제를 위한 대응 방안을 제시하였다. 본 항공 주파수 정책 연구 결과는 향후 항공 주파수 대역 분배 및 관리 정책 개선에 기여할 것으로 판단한다.

Experimental Interference Studies Between WCDMA and UWB System

  • Ultra wideband (UWB) technologies have been developed to exploit a new spectrum resource in substances and to realize ultra-high-speed communication, high precision geolocation, and other applications. The energy of UWB signal is extremely spread from near DC to a few GHz. This means that the interference between conventional narrowband systems and UWB systems is inevitable. However, the interference effects had not previously been studied from UWB wireless systems to conventional mobile wireless systems sharing the frequency bands such as WCDMA system. This paper experimentally evaluates the interference from two kinds of UWB sources, namely a direct-sequence spread-spectrum UWB source and an impulse radio UWB source, to a WCDMA digital transmission system. The average frame error rate degradations are presented. From these experimental results, we show that in all practical cases UWB system can coexist with WCDMA terminal without causing any dangerous interference.
