  • This paper presents a novel single-stage high frequency resonant DC-DC converter using zero voltage switching with high input power factor. The proposed high frequency resonant converter integrates half-bridge boost rectifier as power factor corrector (PFC) and half-bridge resonant converter into a single stage. The input stage of the half-bridge boost rectifier is working in discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) with constant duty cycle and variable switching frequency. So that a high power factor is achieved naturally. Simulation results through the Pspice have demonstrated the feasibility of the Proposed DC-DC converter. This proposed converter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.

  • In this paper the power flow finite element method (PFFEM) has been used to analyze the vibration of a plate partially covered with a damping sheet. Experiments have been performed to measure the loss factor and frequency response functions of the plate partially covered with the damping sheet. The data for the loss factor has been used as the input data to predict the vibration of the coupled plates with PFFEM. The comparison between the experimental results and the predicted PFFEM results for the frequency response functions has been performed. It showed that PFFEM can be effectively used to predict structural vibration in medium-to-high frequency ranges.

  • This experiment was carried out to examine the roles of selenium in arsenic- and chromium-induced oxidative stress, which results in chromosomal damage, such as sister chromatid exchange (SCE) and chromosomal aberration (CA). For this purpose, the frequency of CA and SCE related to the level of 0xidative stress were analyzed. Selenium decreased the frequency of CA induced by As. In order to evaluate the effect of selenium on clastogenic factors, media from As- and Cr-treated cells were ultrafiltered and added again to cells in the presence or absence of selenium. Selenium decreased the frequency of SCE by As and Cr. This observation indicates the possibility of presence of clastogenic factor. In addition, the clastogenic factor would be involed in oxidative stress since selenium decreased the level of oxidative stress. Thus, it is suggested that selenium may play a role as an anti-clastogenic effector by preventing the oxidative stress, thereby decreasing the frequency of Asand Cr-induced chromosomal damage.

  • The continuous Gabor wavelet transform (GWT) has been utilized as a useful time-frequency analysis tool to identify the rapidly-varying characteristics of some wave signals. In the application of GWT, it is important to select the Gabor wavelet with the optimal shape factor by which the time-frequency distribution of a signal can be accurately estimated. To find the signal-dependent optimal Gator wavelet shape factor, the notion of the Shannon entropy which measures the extent of signal energy concentration in the time-frequency plane is employed. • The EDM characteristics of STD11 steel with copper and graphite as electrode have been investigated by using Hansvedt SE-155B electro-discharge machine. The effects of parameters such as duty factor and frequency on electro-discharge machining were discussed. It was found that those parameters have significant influences on the relative electrode wear(REW), metal removalrate(MRR) surface integrity. When the duty factor was increased under the constant frequency of 2 KHz, the MRR was also increased and the REW was decreased. But REW was constant with higher duty factor of 50%. In the case of the smaller duty factor and the higher frequency, the surface roughness has become better. When the graphite was used as electrode at thes same condition, the tool electrode built-up phenomenon has been obsdrved.

  • In this study, we utilized the duty factor of the transition frequency modulation (TFM) for the illumination control of the light emitting diode (LED) light in visible light communication (VLC). The average optical power is linearly proportional to the duty factor in TFM waveforms. We used the transition frequencies of Na=5 and Nb=1 for the high and the low bits, respectively, of the non-return-to-zero (NRZ) data in the VLC transmitter. A resistor and capacitor high-pass filter (HPF) was used in the VLC receiver to eliminate the 120 Hz optical noise from adjacent lighting lamps and the spikes at the HPF output were used to recover NRZ data from the TFM waveform. In experiments, the illumination of the LED light was controlled in the range of 25-90% of the constant-wave optical power by changing the duty factor of the TFM waveforms.

  • Topology optimization is applied to determine the layout of a structural component with a specified frequency by minimizing the difference between the specified structural frequency and a given frequency. The homogenization design method is employed and the topology design problem is solved by the optimality criteria method. The value of a weighting factor in the optimality criteria plays an important role in this topology design problem. The modified optimality criteria method approximated by using the binomial expansion is suggested to determine the suitable value of the weighting factor, which makes convergence stable. If a given frequency is set as an excited frequency, it is possible to avoid resonance by moving away the specified structural frequency from the given frequency. The results of several test problems are compared with previous works and show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • We analyze the performance of code division multiple access (CDMA) system with multicarrier (MC) that employs precoding in synchronous downlink channels. Even though considerable efforts are undergoing for frequency offset estimation and correction, it is inevitable for the system to bear the remaining frequency offset. Therefore it is important to predict accurately the system performance in the presence of the residual frequency offset. We obtain the bit error rate (BER) performance in terms of the number of users, the spreading factor, the number of sub-carriers, and frequency offset. We assume that the spreading factor is equal to the number of sub-carriers, although we can generalize the case. The simulation results show that the BER of MC-CDMA with precoding shows a performance that varies with frequency offset as well as system loading.

  • Silicone oil exhibits the properies of both organic and inorganic substances and, thus, it has many superior properties such as higher thermal resistance and lower thermal oxidation level when compared to other dielectric liquids. In order to investigate the dielectric characteristics, dielectric liquids of viscosity 1 [cSt] is chosen as the specimen and experiment is performed in the temperature range of 20∼65 [$^{\circ}C$] and frequency range of 30∼1${\times}$10$\^$6/ [Hz] respectively. As a result, the observed linear decrease in dissipation factor at the frequency range below 3 [kHz] is due to the influence of frequency, whereas the increase in dissipation factor at higher frequency range is contributed by electrode's resistance. At a fixed frequency of 30 [kHz], increasing temperature results in higher peak value and wide width of the absorption curve. This is due to the increase in dipole and viscosity. As temperature increases, dipole moment is decreased from 0.98 to 0.64 [debye]. The activation energy which causes the relaxation and loss of dielectric is obtained about 15 [kcal/mole].

  • This paper has been studied a calibration techniques in CISPR A for 1 m monopole antenna factor in the frequency range below 30 MHz. The equivalent capacitance substitution method uses a dummy antenna in place of the actual rod element. Dummy antenna measure frequency from 150 kHz to 30 MHz and good results factor from 150 kHz to 25 MHz compare to using 1 m monopole antenna factor. It will be use to substitute dummy antenna factor for 1 m monopole antenna factor.
