Background: Ionizing radiation is known to be harmful to human health. The shielding of ionizing radiation depends on the attenuation which can be achieved by three main rules, i.e. time, distance and absorbing material. Materials and Methods: The mass attenuation coefficient, linear attenuation coefficient, Half Value Layer (HVL) and Tenth Value Layer (TVL) of X-rays (32 keV, 74 keV) and gamma rays (662 keV) are measured in Barium compounds. Results and Discussion: The measured values agree well with the theory. The effective atomic numbers ($Z_{eff}$) and electron density (Ne) of Barium compounds have been computed in the wide energy region 1 keV to 100 GeV using an accurate database of photon-interaction cross sections and the WinXCom program. Conclusion: The mass attenuation coefficient and linear attenuation coefficient for $BaCO_3$ is higher than the $BaCl_2$, $Ba(No_3)_2$ and BaSO4. HVL, TVL and mean free path are lower for $BaCO_3$ than the $BaCl_2$, $Ba(No_3)_2$ and $BaSO_4$. Among the studied barium compounds, $BaCO_3$ is best material for x-ray and gamma shielding.

In this study, we synthesized a mediator immobilized biocatalyst([FCA/GOx]/PEI/CNT) by surface modification using ferrocene carboxylic acid(FCA), and evaluated its performance as anode catalyst for biofuel cell. Through the application of FCA on glucose oxidase (GOx), the free amine groups on the lysine residue of GOx surface reacted with carboxylic acid of FCA and make amide bond between GOx and FCA. As the result of that, the electron transfer of catalyst was increased up to 1.91 times($0.468mA{\cdot}cm^{-2}$) than the catalyst without surface modification (GOx/PEI/CNT), and high maxium power density of $1.79mA{\cdot}cm^{-2}$ was gained.
The mass attenuation coefficient ${\mu}_m$ for eight rock samples having different chemical composition was simulated using the MCNP 5 code in energy range($0.002MeV{\leq}E{\leq}10MeV$). Moreover, the ${\mu}_m$ for the studied rock samples was computed theoretically using XCOM database. The comparison between simulated and computed data for all selected rock samples showed a good agreement with differences varied between 0.01 and 8%. The highest ${\mu}_m$ was found for basalt rocks M2 and M1 and the lowest one is reported for limestone rocks Dike. The simulated values of the ${\mu}_m$ then were used to calculate other important shielding parameters such as the mean free path, effective electron density and effective atomic number. The exposure buildup factor EBF was also computed for the selected rocks with the contribution of G-P fitting parameters and the highest EBF attended by the basalt sample Sill and varied between 1.022 and 744 in the energy range between ($0.015MeV{\leq}E{\leq}15MeV$) but the lowest EBF achieved by basalt sample M2 and varied between 1.017 and 491 in the same energy range.

Cathodic protection is one of the successful ways to prevent corrosion of steel structures in marine environments. The unique feature of cathodic protection in seawater is the formation of calcareous deposits on cathodic metal surface. The formation principles of calcareous deposit seawater had been known for a long time. That is, cathodic reduction reactions associated with cathodic protection in seawater generate $OH^-$ at the metal surface in accordance with the formular ; 1/2 $O_2$ + $H_2O$ + $2e^-$$2OH^-$ and $2H_2O$ + $2e^-$${\rightarrow}$$H_2$ + $2OH^-$. These reactions increase the pH at the metal / seawater interface. The high pH causes precipitation of $Mg(OH)_2$ and $CaCO_3$ in accordance with the formular ; $Mg^{2+}$ + $2(OH)^-$${\rightarrow}$$Mg(OH)_2$ and $Ca^{2+}$ + $HCO_3^-$ + $OH^-$${\rightarrow}$$H_2O$ + $CaCO_3$. These are typically the main compounds in calcareous deposits. It obviously has several advantages compared to the conventional coatings, since the environment-friendly calcareous deposit coating is formed by the elements($Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$) naturally present in seawater. In this study, environmental friendly calcareous deposit films were prepared on steel plates by electro plating technic in natural seawater. The influence of current density on composition ratio, structure and morphology of the coated films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy formation process of calcareous deposits films in natural seawater. And we confirmed the properties of all the films can be improved greatly by controlling the material structure and morphology with effective use of the electroplating method in natural seawater.
Thin films of diamond-like carbon(DLC) have been deposited using a magnetron plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD) method with an rf(13.56 MHz) plasma of $C_{3}H_{8}$. From the Langmuir probe I-V characteristics, it can be observed that increasing the magnetic field yields an increase of the temperature($T_e$) and density($N_e$) of electron. At a magnetic field of 82 Gauss, the estimated values of $T_e$ and $N_e$ are approximately $1.5\;{\times}\;10^5$ K(13.5 eV) and $1.3\;{\times}\;10^{11}\;cm^{-3}$, respectively. Such a highly dense plasma can be attributed to the enhanced ionization caused by the cyclotron motion of electrons in the presence of a magnetic field. On the other hand, the negative dc self-bias voltage($-V_{sb}$) decreases with an increasing magnetic field, which is irrespective of gas pressure in the range of $1{\sim}7$ mTorr. This result is well explained by a theoretical model considering the variation of $T_e$. Deposition rates of DLC films increases with a magnetic field. This may be due to the increased mean free path of electrons in the magnetron plasma. Structures of DLC films are examined by using various techniques such as FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. Most of hydrocarbon bonds in DLC films prepared consist of $sp^3$ tetrahedral bonds. Increasing the rf power leads to an enhancement of cross-linking of carbon atoms in DLC films. At approximately 140 W, the maximum film density obtained is about 2.4 $g/cm^3$.
In this paper, for the first time, the electroanalytical study of Triethylenediamine, TEDA was done on a typically graphene modified carbon paste electrode (Gr/CPE) in pH=10.5 of phosphate buffer solutions (PBS). The surface morphology of the bare and modified electrodes was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The electro-oxidation of TEDA was investigated at the surface of modified electrode. The results revealed that the oxidation peak current of TEDA at the surface of Gr/CPE is 2.70 times than that shown at bare-CPE. A linear calibration plot was observed in the range of 1.0 to 202.0 ppm. In this way, the detection limit was found to be 0.18 ppm. The method was then successfully applied to determination of TEDA in aqueous samples obtained from two kinds of activated carbon from the masks of war. On the other hand, density functional theory (DFT) method at B3LYP/6-311++G** level of theory and a conductor-like Polarizable Continuum Model (CPCM) was used to calculate the $pK_a$ values of TEDA. The energies of lowest unoccupied molecular orbital ($E_{LUMO}$) and highest occupied molecular orbital ($E_{HOMO}$), gap energy (${\Delta}E$) and some thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy of TEDA and its conjugate acid ($HT^+$) were calculated. The results of calculated $pK_a$ were found to be in good agreement with the experimental values.
Identification of blood cells and their physological functions in the cultured scallop, Patinopecten yessoensis collected from Abashiri Bay, Hokkaido, Japan were studied by electron microscopic structure and histological observations. The physiological function of each blood cell type was studied on the basis of its cytological structure, the lysosome in the blood cell and its phagocytosis. The blood cells were classified as Type I, Type II and Type III. The morphological characteristics of each blood cell type are as follows ; Type I : The cell is oval shaped and its cytoplasm contains comparatively low electron dense materials. The oval nucleus is sometimes ramified into two nuclei. Lumps of tubular smooth endoplasmic reticula and vacuoles are distributed near the nucleus. Type II : The cell appears long and oval shaped, and its cytoplasm contains high electron dense materials. The oval nucleus does not ramify, and large numbers of sac-like smooth endoplasmic reticula and free ribosomes are developed around the nucleus. No vacuoles exist in the cytoplasm Type 1II : The cell is round in shape and the electron density of the cytoplasm is the highest among the three types of cells because of large quantities of roughsurfaced endoplasmic reticula and no vacuoles. Particularly, the nucleus reveals a wheel-like shape owing to lumps of tuberous chromatin. The cells of Type I and II seem to have the role of carrying out phagocytosis on either foreign materials such as bacteria or endogenous old cells and the transport of nutritive materials. The type III cell, which has not been found in any bivalve species of non Pectinidae, may be said to have the function of production and the secretion of protein related to some humoral defense materials.
This study was designed to determine the most effective concentration of fluoride and energy density of laser irradiation for the anticarious effect. For this study surface hardness in enamel was measured before and after irradiation with pulsed Nd;YAG laser and the topical application of fluoride. Of the permanent mandibular anterior hovine teeth, healthy, carious free ones were used. Three hundred specimens were made. Specimens within 25~45 Vickers hardness numbers were assigned to 20 control and experimental stoops ; each containing 15 specimens. After forming artificial carious lesions, 10 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 20 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and 30 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$ energies were irradiated on the enamel surface of each experimental group. Also NaF, NH4F, Elmex gel(amine fluoride) and APF gel fluoride compounds were applied topically. Next, all the specimens were placed into the pH circulatory procedures for eight days. Vickers hardness numbers were measured using a microhardness tester. Surface changes of the enamel were observed using an scanning electron microscope. The comparative ana1ysis yielded the following results : 1. The reduction of surface hardness of the enamel surface was less in all groups with fluoride application than in the group without fluoride application. 2. The APF gel croup with 10 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$ irradiation showed the lowest reduction of surface hardness. 3. The reduction of surface hardness of the enamel surface in the group of laser irradiation without fluoride application not showed any significant difference according to the energy density of the laser. 4. Under the scanning electron microscope, in enamel irradiated with 10J/$\textrm{cm}^2$ showed appearance similar to acid etching surface. In enamel irradiated with 20 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$, line enamel crack was detected. In enamel irradiated with 30j/$\textrm{cm}^2$, severe enamel crack and fusion of enamel were detected. These results suggest that one could obtain the best anticariogenic effects without damage to teeth in the group of application of APF gel after laser irradiation with 10 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$.
Integumentary system of the polychaete, Perinezeis aibuhitensis was consisted cuticular, epidermal and dermal layers. Excretory pores opened in cuticular layer, which is covered with epicuticular projections. The hemidesmosomes were observed between supporting cell and basal area of cuticular layer. The epidermal layer was consisted supporting cells and unicellular glands. Supporting cell was relatively larger than the other neighbouring cells, and the nucleus had one to two nucleolus. Cytoplasm of the supporting cell had well-developed intracellular organs such as tonofilaments, mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticula, free ribosomes and pigment granules of electron dense. The gland cells were reacted with blue in AB-PAS, and classified into the three types such as ${\alpha},\;{\beta}\;and\;{\gamma}$ from the transmission electron microscopic observation. Type ${\alpha}$ gland cell was ovoid and the cytoplasm had well-developed tonofilaments and membrane bounded secretory granules of $0.8{\~}1.5 {\mu}m$ in diameter. Type ${\beta}$ gland cell had a large vacuole and secretory granules of $0.5{\~}0.8 {\mu}m$, which scattered evenly in the cytoplasm. Type ${\gamma}$ gland cell had well-developed endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi auparatus and secretory granules of $0.2{\~}0.3 {\mu}m$ in diameter. The electron density of this granules was the highest among the granules.

We demonstrate the fabrication method of high-density and high-quality solder bump solving a copper (Cu) cross-contamination in Si-LSI laboratory. The Cu cross-contamination is solved by separating solder-bump process by two steps. Former is via-formation process excluding Cu/Ti under ball metallurgy (UBM) layer sputtering in Si-LSI laboratory. Latter is electroplating process including Ti-adhesion and Cu-seed layers sputtering out of Si-LSI laboratory. Thick photoresist (PR) is achieved by a multiple coating method. After TiW/Al-electrode sputtering for electroplating and via formation in Si-LSI laboratory, Cu/Ti UBM layer is sputtered on sample. The Cu-seed layer on the PR is etched during Cu-electroplating with low-electroplating rate due to a difference in resistance of UBM layer between via bottom and PR. Therefore Cu-buffer layer can be electroplated selectively at the via bottom. After etching the Ti-adhesion layer on the PR, Sn/Pb solder layer with a composition of 60/40 is electroplated using a tin-lead electroplating bath with a metal stoichiometry of 60/40 (weight percent ratio). Scanning electron microscope image shows that the fabricated solder bump is high-uniformity and high-quality as well as symmetric mushroom shape. The solder bumps with even 40/60 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter/pitch do not touch during electroplating and reflow procedures. The solder-bump process of high-uniformity and high-density with the Cu cross-contamination free in Si-LSI laboratory will be effective for electronic microwave application.
