두개저 결손의 미세수술적 재건술 (Microvascular Reconstruction of the Cranial Base Defects)

  • Until recently, the cranial base tumors were deemed unresectable due to the inability to diagnose the extent of the involvement accurately and to approach and excise the tumor safely. With refinements in CT and NMR scanning and development of craniofacial techniques, reconstruction becomes absolutely crucial in allowing successful resection of these tumors. Resection of these tumors may sometimes result in massive and complex extirpation defects that are not amendable to local tissue closure. In such cases, the free tissue transfer was a useful alternative because it can provide large amount of well-vascularized tissues and reliable separation of intracranial space from bacterial flora of the upper airway. The microvascular free tissue transfer was used in 9 patients at our center to reconstruct the cranial base defects. Of these, 8 were free rectus muscle flaps, and 1 was free latissimua dorsi muscle flap. There were 1 case of partial flap loss and 1 case of postoperative wound infection. The large, complex defects were successfully reconstructed by one stage operation and the functional and aesthetic results were satisfactory with acceptable complication rates.

In-situ measurement of railway-traffic induced vibrations nearby the liquid-storage tank

  • In this study, result of a field investigation of railway traffic-induced vibrations is provided to examine acceptability levels of ground vibration and to evaluate the serviceability of a liquid-storage tank. Free field attenuation of the amplitudes as a function of distance is derived by six accelerometers and compared with a well-known half-space Bornitz's analytical solution which considers the loss of the amplitude of waves due to geometrical damping and material damping of Rayleigh. Bornitz's solution tends to overlap vertical free field vibration compared with in-situ measured records. The vibrations of the liquid-storage tank were compared with the USA, Federal Transportation Railroad Administration (FTA) criteria for acceptable ground-borne vibrations and with the criteria in DIN 4150-3 German standard. Comparing the thresholds stated in DIN 4150-3, absolute peak particle velocities are within the safe limits, however according to FTA velocity level at the top of the water tank exceeds the allowable limits. Furthermore, it is intended to indicate experimentally the effect of the kinematic interaction caused by the foundation of the structure on the free-field vibrations.

등온모델에 의한 자유행정 Vuilleumier열펌프의 동특성 해석 (Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics for a Free-Piston Vuilleumier Heat Pump Based on the Isothermal Model)

  • This paper deals with dynamic behaviors of a free-piston Vuilleumier heat pump system, which are characterized by stroke of each diplacer/stroke ratio, operating frequency and phase angle. Based on the Isothermal Model, basic equations of motion are derived and linearized. In particular, dependence of damping coefficients of the dynamic parameters are taken into account in the formulation, which does not bring additional difficulties in the analysis. In order to investigate effects of design conditions on the dynamic parameters are taken into account in the formulation, which does not bring additional difficulties in the analysis. In order to investigate effects of design conditions on the dynamic characteristics, calculations are performed for the prototype made by Schulz and Thomas and results are qualitatively compared with their data obtained from the analysis as well as the experiment. It appears that they made a mistake in evaluating the hysteresis loss of the gas spring in their analysis. And, the present results show a better agreement with their experimental data than those by their own analysis. Although there are some unresolved aspects such as frequency variations with respect to the mean pressure and the hot space temperature, it is expected that the present analysis may be an effective tool for prediction of dynamics of a free- pistion VM machine at the preliminary design stage.

Erwinia rhapontici 고정화에 의한 Palatinose의 생산 (Production of Palatinose by Immobilized Cells of Erwinia rhapontici)

  • Erwinia rhapontici를 Ca-alginate에 고정화시켜 고정화 세포의 반응특성을 고찰하고, STR, PBR을 이용하여 Palatinose의 생산을 검토하였다. Free cell과 고정화 세포의 반응최적 pH는 5.5-6.0, 반응 최적온도는$30-35^{\circ}C$로 동일하였으나 고정화에 의해 pH 및 온도 범위가 보다 넓어졌고, 이때 Free cell및 고정화 세포의 겉보기 Km갑슨 각각 0.13, 0.28M이었다. STR을 이용한 Palatonose 생산시 고정화 세포의 반감기는 약 380 시간으로 낮았으나, PBR을 통해 30일까지 안정운전이 가능하였다. PBR 운전시의 운전온도 30, $33^{\circ}C$에서 Palatinose수율 및 고정화 세포의 안정성은 거의 동일한 결과를 나타내었으며 이때 PBR생산성은 약 120g/l$\cdot$h이었고, Pilot scale인 50L 까지 성공적으로 Scale up 되었다.

이동 통신 망에서 측정하여 계산된 경로 손실의 급격한 변동 위치 추출 방법 (The Singular Position Detection Method from the Measured Path Loss Data for the Cellular Network)

  • 이동 통신망의 기지국과 이동국 사이의 거리 차로 인하여 발생하는 경로 손실 데이터를 분석하였다. 본 논문에서는, 측정된 수신 신호세기(RSSI)로부터 송수신기 거리 차이에 따른 경로 손실을 계산하여 이를 그래프로 표시하고, 평균한 데이터를 이용하여 기존의 경로 손실 모델들(자유공간 모델, 지면반사파 모델, 하타 모델, ${\ldots}$)과 그래프를 동시에 그려서 비교하였다. 2 Km, 1 Km, 0.5 Km 간격으로 평균한 경로 손실 데이터에 대한 표준 편차를 구해 보니, 각각 2.29 dB, 3.39 dB, 4.75 dB가 되었다. 본 논문에서는 거리별로 계산된 경로 손실 평균값들의 미분 값을 구하여, 앞에서 구한 경로 손실 표준 편차의 1 또는 2배수를 초과하여 변동하는 위치를 찾아내는 방법을 제안 하였다. 이렇게 제안한 방법을 적용하여 분석한 결과, 송수신기 사이에서 손실이 급격하게 발생하는 지점이, 2 Km 간격으로 경로 손실을 평균한 경우에는 5 지점, 1 Km 간격으로 평균한 경우에는 7 지점, 0.5 Km 간격으로 평균한 경우에는 19 지점이 됨을 알 수 있었고, 구체적인 위치를 파악하는 성과를 얻었다.

The Method to Setup the Path Loss Model by the Partial Interval Analysis in the Cellular Band

  • There are the free space model, the direct-path and ground reflected model, Egli model, Okumura-Hata model in the representative propagational models. The measured results at the area of PNG area were used as the experimental data in this paper. The new proposed partial interval analysis method is applied on the measured propagation data in the cellular band. The interval for the analysis is divided from the entire 30 Km distance to 5 Km, and next to 1 Km. The best-fit propagation models are chosen on all partial intervals. The means and standard deviations are calculated for the differences between the measured data and all partial interval models. By using the 5 Km- or 1 Km- partial interval analysis, the standard deviation between the measured data and the partial propagation models was improved more than 1.7 dB.

  • A free space transmission method using standard gain horn antennas in the frequency range from 9.0 to 10.5GHz is applied to determine the dielectric properties of grain such as rough rice, brown rife and barley. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The effect of density fluctuation, which is an important parameter governing the dielectric properties of grain, on the dielectric constant and loss factor is presented. A new density-independent model in terms of measured attenuation and moisture density is proposed for reducing the effects of density fluctuation on the moisture content measurement.

  • In this paper, a measurement and analysis program is developed, that can be utilized to measure and analyze radio propagation characteristics. This program is able to control the measurement instruments including spectrum analyzer through a GPIB interface, and analyze the measured data to yield mean excess delay and RMS delay spread. The measured path loss can be compared with theoretical path loss in free space or inside tunnels. The measured and analyzed results can also be presented in the forms of graphs. As those tasks can be conducted on the measurement spot, this program is very helpful for performing and verifying measurements.

New Density-Independent Model for Measurement of Grain Moisture Content using Microwave Techniques

  • A free sparse transmission method using X-band standard gain horn antenna is applied to measure the attenuation and phase shift of microwave signal through the wetted grain such as rough rice, brown rice and barley. The moisture content of grain varied from 11 to 25% based on its wetted condition. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The measured values of dielectric constants as a function of moisture density are compared with values of those obtained using the predicted model for estimating dielectric constants of grain.
