  • This paper presents an algorithm which extends the rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) framework to deal with change of the task environments. This algorithm called the Retrieval RRT Strategy (RRS) combines a support vector machine (SVM) and RRT and plans the robot motion in the presence of the change of the surrounding environment. This algorithm consists of two levels. At the first level, the SVM is built and selects a proper path from the bank of RRTs for a given environment. At the second level, a real path is planned by the RRT planners for the: given environment. The suggested method is applied to the control of $KUKA^{TM}$, a commercial 6 DOF robot manipulator, and its feasibility and efficiency are demonstrated via the cosimulatation of $MatLab^{TM}\;and\;RecurDyn^{TM}$.

  • Recently ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) package has been on of important issues in developing information systems in many Korean companies. The main objectives of this study are to analyse the case of implementing ERP system in Samsung Display Devices Co. which is rated to be successful, and to derive significant implications for effective ERP implementation. First, this study focused on showing the detailed roadmap of performing ERP implementation project which largely consists of 5 stages(planning and organizing, visioning. process redesign and mapping, testing and arrangement, and installation and roll-out to overseas subsidiaries), and explaining key activities in each stage. Second, the performance of this project was evaluated on the basis of both process-centered critieria and result-centered ones. Finally, this study intended to discuss and explicate the bottlenecks and the critical success factors in implementing this project. The findings of this case study are thought not only to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out ERP implementation project but also to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of effective ERP implementation.

  • To be competitive, long-range planning and customer satisfaction must be integrated into the company's strategic management objectives. In order to deal with this challenge, an organization must develop an effective marketing policy. It should take into consideration the needs and demands of customers and business strategy. Many companies want to develop a strategic planning framework for policy marketing. And they think that an effective marketing policy must be based on the principles of quality attributes and customer orientation. This paper proposes an integrated approach Kano Analysis, quality function deployment, Potential Customer Satisfaction Index to choose strategic marketing.

  • Proper management of small rural watershed is important since it does affect water quality improvement of larger scale watershed. Therefore, effective small watershed management guideline including participatory program of local people is required to achieve water environment improvement. Feasibility of water quality goal, short and long-term watershed management plan and funding sources were investigated by field monitoring of Hampyungchun watershed which has characteristics of rural stream, and literature review. The relevant parties and their roles fer watershed management were identified and suggested. A hybrid model, that is mixture of government driven model and NGO model, is recommended for watershed management organization in this study.

  • This paper addresses a methodology for monitoring the first phase('92-'94) progress and its strategic implication of Highly Advanced National R&D Program(HAN or G7 project) in Korea. The conceptual framework and its strategic thrust of the interim evaluation, which is the main focus of this paper, was designed both by reviewing related literature and by analyzing the unique characteristics of the HAN Program. Actual monitoring or interim evaluation was initiated by the G7 Planning and Evaluation Committee, which was established for advising, directing, and monitoring the HAN Program, with the help of large number of experts from various industries, universities, and research institutes. The monitoring results had been reported to the related ministries and project coordinating agencies. According to the suggestion made by the G7 Planning and Evaluation Committee, several projects were suffered structural changes and one was dropped.

  • Strategic Information Systems Planning(SISP) has gained considerable interest among researchers and practitioners in recent years which has instigated various related research. Nevertheless, only 24 percent of the projects recommended as a result of SISP are ultimately performed. This statistics raise the questions for the need of SISP. This study provides the framework that may enable SISP to be more effectively utilized by studying factors for consideration from the review of pertinent literature. These factors will then be validated by case studies of domestic companies and by simultaneously inducing key characteristics and solutions of SISP. The result of the study indicates some inconsistency between literal factors and the case study. The factors added through case study were considered to be actual factors of SISP. This study emphasized the role of the senior manager, the quality of the implementation of the state plan and the capability of the planning team. As key characteristics of domestic companies considered were the general lack of ability to collect and analyze data. In addition, the domestic companies have little consideration of the organizational contingency factors.

  • An approach to Just-In-Time for small job-shop-type manufacturers is presented. This is aimed at those who understand the pull production system, however, cannot afford either swift changeover in workcenters or frequent delivery to customers. First, as a production planning technique, a lot-sizing model entitled Multilevel Least Total Cost Model(MLTCM) is developed; The production order quantities of each components be those requiremensts of the end item production lot. The contribution of MLTCM is shown via simulation. Then, a framework of the Kanban operations is designed; A Production Control Kanban is introduced as a communication tool with Production Kanban in a job-shop.

  • Currently, many companies are trying to be more competitive by implementing the most appropriate software package, called ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). ERP can support the company's business process. A repository, which can story and retrieve enterprise-wide information, is a key component of such software package. This paper implements an enterprise repository for the ERP. A wellknown repository standard, IRDS (Information Resource Dictionary System), is employed for the repository architecture. A meta schema that can help develop database, business applications, models, and workflow is proposed. To illustrate the practical usefulness, a real-life ERP prototype is built within the framework of the proposed repository.

  • Several distributed architectures, incorporating mobile agent technology, have been recently proposed to answer the scalability limitations of their centralized counterparts. However, these architectures fail to address scalability problems, when distributed tasks requiring the employment of itinerant agents is considered. This is because they lack mechanisms that guarantee optimization of agents' itineraries so as to minimize the total migration cost in terms of the round-trip latency and the incurred traffic. This is of particular importance when MAs itineraries span multiple subnets. The work presented herein aspires to address these issues. To that end, we have designed and implemented an algorithm that adapts methods usually applied for addressing network design problems in the specific area of mobile agent itinerary planning. The algorithm not only suggests the optimal number of mobile agents that minimize the overall cost but also constructs optimal itineraries for each of them. The algorithm implementation has been integrated into our mobile agent framework research prototype and tested in real network environments, demonstrating significant cost savings.
