Enhancing seismic performance of ductile moment frames with delayed wire-rope bracing using middle steel plate

  • Moment frames have considerable ductility against cyclic lateral loads and displacements; however, sometimes this feature causes the relative displacement to exceed the permissible limits. This issue can bring unfavorable hysteretic behavior on the frame due to the reduction in the stiffness and resistance against lateral loads. Most of common bracing systems usually control lateral displacements through increasing stiffness while result in decreasing the capacity for energy absorption. This has direct effect on hysteresis curves of moment frames. Therefore, a system that is capable of both having the capacity of energy absorption as well as controlling the displacements without a considerable increase in the stiffness is quite important. This paper investigates retrofitting of a single-storey steel moment frame using a delayed wire-rope bracing system equipped with the ductile middle steel plate. The steel plate is considered at the middle intersection of wire ropes, where it causes cables to be continuously in tension. This integrated system has the advantage of reducing considerable stiffness of the frame compared to cross bracing systems as a result of which it could also preserve the frame's energy absorption capacity. In this paper, FEM models of a delayed wire-rope bracing system equipped by steel plates with different geometries have been studied, validated, and compared with other researchers' laboratory test results.

  • 본 논문에서는 WiMedia 프로토콜에서, 전송 효율을 높이기 위한 연쇄된 프레임 기법을 분석한다. 그리고 연쇄된 프레임에 포함되는 미니-프레임들중 일부 미니-프레임의 손실로 인해 발생하는 성능 저하를 감소시키기 위한 효율적인 전송기법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 전송 기법은 연쇄된 프레임에 포함되는 미니-프레임의 손실이 발생할 경우, 에러가 발생한 미니-프레임만을 재전송하여 전체적인 에너지 소모를 줄이고, 전송효율을 높일 수 있다. 이를 증명하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 제안된 기법을 시뮬레이터에 적용시켜서 성능 분석을 수행하였다.

음극선관의 내충격 특성 향상을 위한 구조 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Structural Design Approach to Improve Shockproof Characteristic in Cathode Ray Tube)

  • In this study the structural design concepts of main parameters of a Cathode Ray Tube(CRT) such as frame spring and shadow mask were proposed to guarantee a failure-proof CRT under mechanical shock. With computer simulation and experiments some information on the structural design concept was obtained as followings: the frame and the shadow mask of the CRT needed designing to increase strength so double-beads shape at the corner of frame was newly designed for it, And the spring which interconnected frame with panel glass was required to deform elastically for the purpose of absorbing the shock energy in the direction of drop. A new type of spring 'twisting spring' was designed to achieve the flexibility in that direction. By using it the deformation energy of a shadow mask could reduced to some degree. To accomplish those simulations commerical codes Pam-Crash and I-DEAS were used and a typical CRT was analyzed as an example to prove the usefulness of this study.

  • This paper proposes a video tracking method for a deformable moving object using an active contour model. In order to decide the convergent directions of the contour points automatically, a new energy function based on a frame difference map and an updating rules of the frame difference map are presented. Experimental results on a set of synthetic and real image sequences showed that the proposed method can fully track a speedy deformable object while extracting the boundary of the object exactly in every frame.

Theoretical formulation for calculating elastic lateral stiffness in a simple steel frame equipped with elliptic brace

  • Elliptic-braced simple resisting frame as a new lateral bracing system installed in the middle bay of frame in building facades has been recently introduced. This system not only creates a problem for opening space from the architectural viewpoint but also improves the structural behavior. Despite the researches on the seismic performance of lateral bracing systems, there are few studies performed on the effect of the stiffness parameters on the elastic story drift and calculation of period in simple braced steel frames. To overcome this shortcoming, in this paper, for the first time, an analytical solution is presented for calculating elastic lateral stiffness in a simple steel frame equipped with elliptic brace subjected to lateral load. In addition, for the first time, in this study, a precise formulation has been developed to evaluate the elastic stiffness variation in a steel frame equipped with a two-dimensional single-story single-span elliptic brace using strain energy and Castigliano's theorem. Thus, all the effective factors, including axial and shear loads as well as bending moments of elliptic brace could be considered. At the end of the analysis, the lateral stiffness can be calculated by an improved and innovative relation through the energy method based on the geometrical properties of the employed sections and specification of the used material. Also, an equivalent element of an elliptic brace was presented for the ease of modeling and use in linear designs. Application of the proposed relation have been verified through a variety of examples in OpenSees software. Based on the results, the error percentage between the elastic stiffness derived from the developed equations and the numerical analyses of finite element models was very low and negligible.

폭발장면 자동 검출을 위한 저급 수준 비디오 특징의 추상화 (Abstraction Mechanism of Low-Level Video Features for Automatic Retrieval of Explosion Scenes)

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG형식의 영화 데이터를 대상으로 폭발 장면 자동 추출을 위한 저급 수준 비디오 내용정보의 추상화 방법을 제안하고, 실제 구현을 통하여 그 유용성을 보인다. 제안한 추상화 방법은 폭발시 발생하는 불꽃의 색이 노란색 톤을 가진다는 사실과, 불꽃이 나타나는 프레임은 같은 tit에 속하는 이웃한 프레임과는 화면 구성이 달라지게 되므로 움직임 에너지 값이 커지게 된다는 사실을 바탕으로 한다. 이를 위해서 샷 단위의 인덱싱을 자동적으로 수행하고 각 샷의 첫 번째 프래임을 키 프레임으로 하다. 이를 위해서 샷 단위의 인덱싱을 자동적으로 수행하고 각 샷의 첫 번째 프레임을 키 프레임으로 선택한 후 영역별 주 색깔(Dominant Color)를 추출한다. 이때 색 공간은 양자화를 통한 512색 중 노란색 톤을 가지는 48 색 범위로 정의한다. 이후 매 샷마다 첫 번째 프레임과 이웃한 프레임의 에지 이미지(Edge Image)를 추출하여 이들의 차이로써 움직임 에너지(Motion Energy)를 얻는다. 이 두 가지 정보, 즉 노란색 톤을 가지는 색 정보와, 같은 장면 내의 다른 샷의 움직임 에너지에 비해 큰 값의 움직임 에너지를 갖는 샷을 폭발장면이 포함된 장면으로 검출한다. 실험 결과에 의하면 검색 결과는 주어진 임계값에 의존적이나, Recall과 Precision에서 80% 이상의 검출률을 보이고 있다. 그러나 일반적인 폭발 장면은 찾기에는 노란색 불꽃을 보이지 않는 예외적인 경우가 발생하여 이를 추출하는데 어려움이 있었다. 앞으로 이러한 문제점등은 기존의 오디오 정보를 이용한 폭발 장면 검출 방법과 함께 이용함으로써 해결되어질 수 있을 것이다.

Development of Complex Energy Saving Device

  • A complex energy saving device has been developed for middle class vessels. The propulsive performance of the developed device is described through a model test. The pre-swirl stator, which recovers the rotational energy of the propeller slipstream, is a well-known energy saving device for large vessels. The pre-swirl stator for a large vessel is usually cast as a part of the stern frame and has a high cost. The manufacture of a cast stator for an existing vessel is almost impossible. The complex device that was developed can be fitted on astern frame by welding. The model tests show a 4-6% efficiency gain for middle class vessels with the developed appendages compared to those with bare hulls.

  • Heat loss by window in building occupies about 1/4 of energy amount used building. Therefore, high thermal insulation of windows system can speak as very important part in save energy of building. in this research, After select most suitable frame design and Glazing system for high thermal insulation of windows, execute simulation of mixing frame and Glazing System. Also, manufacture windows with the result and execute verification experiment, with verified simulation, this research evaluated thermal insulation performance of window by Glazing System's change.
