Application the pile group foundation to reduce overall settlement of the foundation and also avoid a very fruitful settlement of foundations, inconsistent was carried out. In such a case, in event that the Foundation, not as a mere pile group, which as a system consisting of a broad foundation with pile Group, economic design criteria will be provided in spite of high safety. A new approach in the design of the Foundation can be introduced as the piles are just a tool to improve the parameters of soil hardness; that it can work with detachable piles from raft. Centralized arrangement of piles as the most optimal layout of piles in reducing inconsistent settlement, which is the lowest value of resulting layout in this differential settlement. Using the combination of piles connected and disconnected to form the raft, bending moment created in the raft is reduced. It also concentrated arrangements have greatest effect in reducing amount of moment applied to the raft.
The paper deals with the vibration and dynamic stability of cantilevered pipes conveying fluid on elastic foundations. The relationship between the eigenvalue branches and corresponding unstable modes associated with the flutter of the pipe is thoroughly investigated. Governing equations of motion are derived from the extended Hamilton's principle, and a numerical scheme using finite element methods is applied to obtain the discretized equations. The critical flow velocity and stability maps of the pipe are obtained for various elastic foundation parameters, mass ratios of the pipe, and structural damping coefficients. Especially critical mass ratios, at which the transference of the eigenvalue branches related to flutter takes place, are precisely determined. Finally, the flutter configuration of the pipe at the critical flow velocities is drawn graphically at every twelfth period to define the order of the quasi-mode of flutter configuration.
This paper presents an application of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in settlement prediction of a foundation on sandy soil. In order to train the ANN model, a wide experimental database about settlement of foundations acquired from available literatures was collected. The data used in the ANNs model were arranged using the following five-input parameters that covered both geometrical foundation and sandy soil properties: breadth of foundation B, length to width L/B, embedment ratio Df/B, foundation net applied pressure qnet, and average SPT blow count N. The backpropagation algorithm was implemented to develop an explicit predicting formulation. The settlement results are compared with the results of previous studies. The accuracy of the proposed formula proves that the ANNs method has a huge potential for predicting the settlement of foundations on sandy soils.

The paper presents the relationship between the eigenvalue branches and the corresponding flutter modes of cantilevered pipes conveying fluid. The pipes are located on elastic foundations which can be regarded as a soil model. In this paper, elastic foundations are assumed as linear distributed translational springs. Governing equations of motion are derived by extended Hamilton's principle, and the numerical scheme using finite element method is applied to obtain the discretized equations. The critical How velocity and stability maps of the pipe are investigated according to the variation of elastic foundation parameters, mass ratios of the pipe and internal damping Parameter. Also, the vibrational modes associated with flutter are shown.

This paper presents the dynamic stability of a cantilevered Timoshenko beam on partial elastic foundations subjected to a follower force. The beam with a tip concentrated mass is assumed to be a Timoshenko beam taking into account its rotary inertia and shear deformation. Governing equations are derived by extended Hamilton's principle, and finite element method is applied to solve the discretized equation. Critical follower force depending on the attachment ratios of partial elastic foundations, rotary inertia of the beam and magnitude and rotary inertia of the tip mass is fully investigated.
The paper presents a stability analysis of uniform Timoshenko beams resting on two-parameter elastic foundations. The two-parameter elastic foundations were considered as a shearing layer and Winkler springs in soil models. Governing equations of motion were derived using the Hamilton's principle and finite element analysis was performed and the eigenvalues were obtained for the stability analysis. The numerical results for the buckling stability of beams under axial forces are demonstrated and compared with the exact or available confirmed solutions. Finally, several examples were given for Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beams with various boundary conditions.

This paper deals with the influence of elastic foundations on natural frequencies of curved beams. Taking into account the effects of rotatoy inertia and shear deformation, the differential equations governing free, out-of-plane vibrations of circular curved beams resting on Winkler-type foundations are derived and solved numerically. Hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped and clamped-clamped end constraints are considered in numerical examples. The lowest three natural frequencies are claculated over a range of non-dimensional system parameters: the horizontal rise to span length ratio, the slenderness ratio, the foundation parameter, and the width ratio of contact area between the beam and foundation. The effects of rotatory inertia and shear deformation are also analyzed.

This paper deals with the free vibrations of shallow arches resting on elastic foundations. Foundations are assumed to follow the hypothesis proposed by Pasternak. The governing differential equation is derived for the in-plane free vibration of linearly elastic arches of uniform stiffness and constant mass per unit length. Sinusoidal arches with hinged-hinged and clamped-clamped end constraints are considered in analysis. The frequency equations (lowest symmetical and antisymmetrical natural frequency equations) are obtained by Galerkin's method. The effects of arch rise, Winkler foundation parameter and shear foundation parameter on the lowest two natural frequencies are investigated.
This study contributes to evaluate multiphase topology optimization design of plate-like structures on elastic foundations by using classic plate theory. Multi-material optimal topology and shape are produced as an alternative to provide reasonable material assignments based on stress distributions. Multi-material topology optimization problem is solved through an alternative active-phase algorithm with Gauss-Seidel version as an optimization model of optimality criteria. Stiffness and adjoint sensitivity formulations linked to thin plate potential strain energy are derived in terms of multiphase design variables and Winkler-Pasternak parameters considering elastic foundation to apply to the current topology optimization. Numerical examples verify efficiency and diversity of the present topology optimization method of elastic thin plates depending on multiple materials and Winkler-Pasternak parameters with the same amount of volume fraction and total structural volume.

Carbonate rocks such as limestone are susceptible to solution and show numerous solution cavities. For the construction of the structures such as bridge foundations and tunnel on the limestone cavities, the geological unconformities developed in the bed rocks, cavity systems and the filling types of solution deposits should be surveyed and analyzed. And also, the stability of structures on the limestone cavities must be taken into consideration in the view of the geotechnical engineering. As a result of analysis of the foundation settlement, an economic and effective reinforcement method is to be proposed and the construction by the proposed method is to be accompanied with verification of reinforcement effect. This paper is a case study of design and construction for the reinforcement of bridge foundations on the limestone cavity covered with thick bedded colluvial soils.
