We propose a new type of nonlinear fixed interval smoother to which an existing nonlinear smoother is modified. The nonlinear smoother is derived from two-filter formulas. For the backward filter. the propagation and the update equation of error states are derived. In particular, the modified update equation of the backward filter uses the estimated error terms from the forward filter. Data fusion algorithm, which combines the forward filter result and the backward filter result, is altered into the compatible form with the new type of the backward filter. The proposed algorithm is more efficient than the existing one because propagation in backward filter is very simple from the implementation point of view. We apply the proposed nonlinear smoothing algorithm to off-line navigation system and show the proposed algorithm estimates position, and altitude fairly well through the computer simulation.
Process Control Systems (PCSs) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems have recently been added to the already wide collection of wireless sensor networks applications. The PCS/SCADA environment is somewhat more amenable to the use of heavy cryptographic mechanisms such as public key cryptography than other sensor application environments. The sensor nodes in the environment, however, are still open to devastating attacks such as node capture, which makes designing a secure key management challenging. Recently, Nilsson et al. proposed a key management scheme for PCS/SCADA, which was claimed to provide forward and backward secrecies. In this paper, we define four different types of adversaries or attackers in wireless sensor network environments in order to facilitate the evaluation of protocol strength. We then analyze Nilsson et al. 's protocol and show that it does not provide forward and backward secrecies against any type of adversary model.
In this paper, we present an analytical method that provides fast and efficient evaluation of the conversion efficiency for switching power supplies. In the proposed method, the conduction losses are evaluated by calculating the effective values of the ideal current waveform first and incorporating them into an exact equivalent circuit model of the switching power supply that includes all the parasitic resistances of the circuit components. While the winding losses and core losses are accurately accounted for the magnetic components, the skin and proximity effects are assumed to be negligible in order to simplify the analysis. The validity and accuracy of the proposed method are verified with experiments on a prototype active-clamped forward converter with synchronous rectification. An excellent correlation between the experiments and theories are obtained for the input voltages of 36-75 V with 4-6 MOSFETs employed for the synchronous rectification.
This paper describes the kinematics which is a new type of parallel manipulator, and the neural network is applied to solving the forward kinematics problem. The parallel manipulator called it as a Stewart platform has an easy and unique solution about the inverse kinematics. However, the forward kinematics is difficult to get a solution because of the lack of an efficient algorithm caused by its highly nonlinearity. This paper proposes the neural network scheme of an Newton-Raphson method alternatively. It is found that the neural network can be improved its accuracy by adjusting the offset of the obtained result.
In this paper, Operation characteristics of the active clamp(ACL) zero-voltage-switching(ZVS) forward converter(FC) and active clamp hard- switching(HS) forward converter are compared with respect to loss analysis. The losses of semiconductor (including conduction losses and switching losses), transformer(containing the core loss and copper loss) and parasitic element of passive element (capacitor, inductor) are measured and compared for each type. For an experiment we have built 50W ACL ZVS-FC and ACL HS-FC, in which the switching frequency is 200kHz, and test it. The experimental results show that both types of operation have nearly same characteristics.
In this paper, SPICE program which is widely used in analysis of general circuit on electronic and electrical field has been applied to DC-DC converter. We have selected Forward type which is widely used us SMPS(Switched Mode Power Supply) of various electronic equipments, and have confirmed the waveforms of circuit operation, transfer of energy and resetting in transformer. And the procedure which the output voltage of converter, including the control circuit, has been stabilized from the transient state to the steady state by controlling the duty ratio of switch is presented. We have compared SPICE simulation with experiment and have verified the validity of SPICE simulation.
The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) had developed the Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers as per the needs noted above. ISO and IMO GBS (Goal-Based Standards) are now being developed in this regard. This study has been prepared to verity the strength of forward cargo hold of 82,000 DWT class bulk carriers. A cargo hold/tank 3-D FE model was established to assess the structural adequacy of the primary structural members with the loading conditions. Full breadth model was established for the analysis considering asymmetric nature of structural layout and loading conditions. To summarize this result of structural assessment based on IACS CRS for bulk carrier, it is benefit to design this kind of bulk carriers and to study the strength assessment for the similar type of bulk carriers.
In this paper, We analyzed the current-voltage characteristics with n-type silicon substrates concentration and temperature variations (Room temperature, 50$^{\circ}C$, 75$^{\circ}C$) in platinum silicide and silicon junction. The electrical parameters of measurement are turn-on voltage, saturation current, ideality factor, barrier height, dynamic resistance in forward bias and reverse breakdown voltage according to variations of junction concentration of substrates and measurement temperature variations. As a result, the forward turn-on voltage, reverse breakdown voltage, barrier height and dynamic resistance were decreased but saturation currents and ideality factor were increased by substrates increased concentration variations in platinum silicide and n-silicon junction. In increased measurement temperature (RT, 50$^{\circ}C$, 75$^{\circ}C$), the extracted electrical parameter values of characteristics were rises by increased temperature variations according to the forward and reverse bias.
Background: Few studies have examined the effects of a forward rotating shift pattern on police employee performance and well-being. This study sought to compare sleep duration, cognitive performance, and vigilance at the start and end of each shift within a three-shift, forward rotating shift pattern, common in United Kingdom police forces. Methods: Twenty-three police employee participants were recruited from North Yorkshire Police (mean age, 43 years). The participants were all working the same, 10-day, forward rotating shift pattern. No other exclusion criteria were stipulated. Sleep data were gathered using both actigraphy and self-reported methods; cognitive performance and vigilance were assessed using a customized test battery, comprising five tests: motor praxis task, visual object learning task, NBACK, digital symbol substitution task, and psychomotor vigilance test. Statistical comparisons were conducted, taking into account the shift type, shift number, and the start and end of each shift worked. Results: Sleep duration was found to be significantly reduced after night shifts. Results showed a significant main effect of shift type in the visual object learning task and NBACK task and also a significant main effect of start/end in the digital symbol substitution task, along with a number of significant interactions. Conclusion: The results of the tests indicated that learning and practice effects may have an effect on results of some of the tests. However, it is also possible that due to the fast rotating nature of the shift pattern, participants did not adjust to any particular shift; hence, their performance in the cognitive and vigilance tests did not suffer significantly as a result of this particular shift pattern.
The application of helical gears in crucial parts of automotive transmissions has been steadily increasing due to their higher power transfer performance compared to spur gears. However, the traditional gear manufacturing methods such as hobbing and deburring require large cycle times with expensive production lines so that there have been intensive efforts trying to manufacture gears via forging processes. Although forging processes for spur and bevel type gears have been developed on the practical level, the manufacturing of helical gears is still dependent on the traditional cutting process. Therefore, this paper seeks to develop a cold forward extrusion process for the helical gear with the pitch diameter of 43.5mm and a helix angle of $18.4^{\circ}$. A forward extrusion process was used due to the relatively small diameter of the target geometry. The material deforming behavior influenced by the die geometry was examined by using CAE analysis. Finally, it was found that the helical gear manufactured by the developed extrusion process satisfied the dimensional accuracy and mechanical characteristics for automotive transmissions.
