등속조인트용 외륜의 다단 냉간 단조공정을 위한 공정개선 및 유한요소 해석 (Process Modification and Numerical Simulation for an Outer Race of a CV Joint using Multi-Stage Cold Forging)

  • The outer race of a constant velocity (CV) joint having six inner ball grooves has traditionally been manufactured by multi-stage warm forging, which includes forward extrusion, upsetting, backward extrusions, necking, ironing and sizing, and machining. In the current study, a multi-stage cold forging process is examined and an assessment for replacing and modifying the conventional multi-stage warm forging is made. The proposed procedure is simplified to the backward extrusion of the conventional process, and the sizing and necking are combined into a single sizing-necking step. Thus, the forging surface of the six ball grooves can be obtained without additional machining. To verify the suitability of the proposed process, a 3-dimensional numerical simulation on each operation was performed. The forging loads were also predicted. In addition, a structural integrity evaluation for the tools was carried out. Based on the results, it is shown that the dimensional requirements of the outer race can be well met.

유동제어를 통한 자동차용 피스톤-펀의 공정설계 (Process Design of Piston-Pin for Automobile by the Flow Control)

  • Flow defect of a piston-pin for automobile parts is investigated in this study. In combined cold extrusion of piston-pin, lapping defect, which is a kind of flow defect, appears by the dead metal zone. This appearance evidently happens in products with a thin thickness to be pierced for the dimensional accuracy and the decrease of material loss. The flow defect that occurs in piston-pin has bad effects on the strength and the fatigue life of piston-pin. Therefore, it is important to predict and prevent defects in the early stage of process design. The best method that can prevent flow defect is removing or reducing dead metal zone through material flow control. The finite element simulations are applied to analyze the flow defect. This study proposes processes for preventing flow defect by removing dead metal zone. Then the results are compared with the experimental ones for verification. These FE simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental ones.

  • With the recent increase in the demand for the net-shape forming, numerical simulations are being commonly adopted to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of design of bulk metal forming processes. Proper consideration of tribological problems at the contact interface between the tool and workpiece is crucial in such simulations. In other words, lubrication and friction play important roles in metal forming by influencing the metal flow, forming load and die wear. In order to quantitatively estimate such friction condition or lubricant characteristic, the constant shear friction model is widely used for bulk deformation analyses. For this, new friction testing method based on the forward or backward extrusion process is proposed to predict the shear friction factor in this work. In this method, the tube-shaped punch pressurizes the workpiece so that the heights at the center and outer of punch (or mandrel) become different according to the friction condition. That is, the height at the center of punch is higher than that at the outer of the punch when the friction condition at the contact interface is severe. From this founding, the proposed friction testing method can be applied to effectively evaluate the friction condition in bulk metal forming processes.

외과적 하악 후퇴술 후 악간고정기간 중의 골격성 재발과 치열의 변화 (Skeletal relapse and dental change during intermaxillary fixation after mandibular setback)

  • 하악 후퇴술 후의 골격성 재발과 치열 변화는 악간고정(intermaxillary fixation, IMF)제거 후 뿐만 아니라 악간고정기간 중에도 일어난다고 보고되고 있다. 악간고정기간 중에 일어나는 골격성 재발에 따른 골편간 견고한 융합의 방해, 보상성 치아이동, 전치부 개방교합 등과 같은 여러 가지 부작용은 술후 교정치료에 많은 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로 임상적으로 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 본 연구는 악간고정기간 중에 일어나는 골격성 재발과 치열의 변화를 알아보고자 시행하였으며, 하악전돌증의 치료를 위해서 양측성 하악지 시상분할골절단술(bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy, BSSRO)과 강선고정 (wire fixation), 악간고정을 시행한 28명을 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 측모 두부 방사선 사진을 통하여 수술에 의한 골편들의 이동량과 방향, 악간고정기간 중의 골격성 재발과 치열 변화의 양과 방향을 측정하였다. 또한 수술에 의한 골편들의 이동과 골격성 재발과의 상관관계, 골격성 재발과 치열 변화간의 상관관계를 평가하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 수술에 의한 골편의 이동방향은 원심골편은 후상방으로, 근심골편은 시계방향으로 회전하였다. 2. 악간고정기간 중에 원심골편의 전방부는 후방 변위, 후방부는 상방 변위하였으며 근심골편은 상방 변위와 함께 근심골편의 gonion(p-Go)부위는 전방 변위를 하였다. 악간고정기간중에 근심골편의 gonion(p-Go)의 전방 변위는 수술에 의한 근심골편의 gonion (p-Go)의 후방으로의 이동량과 유의한 상관관계를 보였다. 즉, 수술에 의한 근심골편의 gonion(p-Go)의 후방으로의 이동이 많을수록 악간고정기간 중의 근심골편의 gonion(p-Go)의 전방 변위는 증가하였다. 3. 악간고정기간 중에 수평피개, 수직피개는 변화가 없었다. 상악 전치부는 후방경사(retroclination), 하악 전치부는 후방경사, 정출이 일어났으며, 이러한 보상성 치아이동은 악간고정기간 중의 근심골편의 gonion(p-Go)의 상방 변위와 유의한 상관관계를 보였다. 즉, 악간고정기간 중의 근심골편의 gonion(p-Go)의 상방 변위가 클수록 보상성 치아 이동량도 증가하였다.
