According to the computerization of railway signaling systems, the interface link between the signaling systems has been replaced by the digital communication channel. At the same time, the importance of the communication link is more pronounced than in the past. In this paper, new network-based protocol for Korean railway signaling has designed between CTC and SCADA system, and the overview of designed protocol is briefly represented. Using the informal method for specifying the communication protocol, a little ambiguity may be contained in the protocol. To clear the ambiguity contained in the designed protocol, we use LTS model to design the protocol for this interface link between CTC and SCADA, the LTS is an intermediate model for encoding the operational behavior of processes. And then, we verify automatically and formally the safety and the liveness properties through the model checking method. Especially, the modal ${\mu}$-calculus, which is a highly expressive method of temporal logic that has been applied to the model checking method. It will be expected to increase the safety, reliability and efficiency of maintenance of the signaling systems by using the designed protocol for railway signaling in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to identify differences that married exist between married women´s buying motivations for imported and domestic formal two piece suits and to test the role of socioeconomic variables on those differences. Sample selection criteria included married women lit in8 in ,seoul. Korea, between ages 30∼59. Purposive sampling method was used to secure respondents It with experience with imported formal two-piece suits. Of 400 distributed. 246 usable questionnaires were returned. Statistical analysis of results included factor analysis, and paired t-tests. For both imported and domestic suits, the most important buying motivation was utilitarian, with qualify the most important consideration. Purchases of domestic suits were more influenced by factors such as advertisements, economics, impulse buying, approval of others, and current fashionability of style than were the purchases of imported suits. On the other hand, purchases of imported suits u·ere more influenced by factors such as prestige and utilitarian motivation than were purchases of domestic suits. For most socioeconomic variables, respondents indicated significant differences in their motivations for buying imported suits and domestic suits. The results of this study suggest the need for implementing different marketing strategies for imported suits and domestic suits.

This paper presents an application of retiming to model checking, a branch of formal verification. Retiming can change the transition relation of a circuit without changing its input-output behaviour by relocating its registers. With the retiming, a given circuit can have a different structure more adequate for model checking. This paper proposes a cost function to reflect the number of registers and the characteristic of its transition relation and develops a heuristic annealing algorithm to search efficiently the circuit structures obtained by retiming. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the model checking performance.

Objectives : Traditional medicine(TM) of East Asia has been taking its status as part of complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) in the UK. However, the efficacy and safety issues make it hard to be accepted in the healthcare system. The aim of the research is to find out the current status of TM of East Asia in the UK and to discuss some issues around its acceptance as formal healthcare method. Methods : Articles, books and regulations related to the acceptance of TM of East Asia were analysed and the internet websites were visited such as Westlaw UK for legal materials, government websites for formal documents, and some UK-based associations. Keyword searches were followed and the essential parts from the articles and documents were generalised for the analysis and discussion. Results : Issues over TM of East Asia include identity as medicine, efficacy and safety, and the statutory regulation can be a measure for the acceptance. Osteopathy and chiropractic therapies came under statutory regulation among the CAM in the UK. Conclusions : TM of East Asia could be under the statutory regulation in the near future. Efficacy and safety issues are the challenging barrier. However, the approach from the viewpoint of TM of East Asia is necessary for development and good practice. The simplified registration procedure for traditional herbal medicinal product in EU can be the model. Education, evaluation, assessment and managing quality of practice are essential for the standard care and formal regulation.

Mathematical problem solving has become a major concern in school mathematics, and methods to enhance children's mathematical problem solving abilities have been the main topics in many mathematics education researches. In addition to previous researches about problem solving, the development of a mathematical problem solving method that enables children to establish mathematical concepts through problem solving, to discover formalized principles associated with concepts, and to apply them to real world situations needs. For this purpose, I examined the necessity of problem solving education and reviewed mathematical problem solving researches and problem solving models for giving the theoretical backgrounds. This study suggested the problem solving approach based on the intuitive and the formal inquiry which are the basis of mathematical discovery and inquiry process. And it is developed to keep the balance and complement of the conceptual understanding and the procedural understanding respectively. In addition, it consisted of problem posing to apply the mathematical principles in the application stage.

Purpose: This study was performed to analyze effects of the power and empowerment on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This study was based on the Kanter's theory of organizational empowerment. Method: A predictive, non-experimental design was used to test the model in a sample of 688 nurses working in 7 university hospitals that have over 500 beds in Seoul, Kyunggi and Kangwon provinces. The data were collected from December, 2003 to January, 2004. It was analyzed with descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation of SPSS and with path analysis of LISREL. Result: The formal and informal power had direct effects on empowerment. Formal power also had direct effects on informal power. Empowerment had direct effects on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Organizational commitment had direct effects on job satisfaction. There was positive effects in all of the variables. Conclusion: The positive changes show on personal behaviors and attitudes when the nurses who have formal and informal power are empowered. These findings would be important resource to nurse administrators for clinical implication.

The main objective of this study is to analyze setback patterns of the super-highrise residential buildings in respect to the formal variations of the floor plans. Along with the illumination of the definition of setback, the early part of the paper attempts to establish criteria for the analysis of the setback cases. The research of 38 setback floor plans as well as the typical floor plans of 17 super-highrise buildings carried out through analysis criterions under three categories; physical features, primary causes, and formal types of setback. The result shows a method of evaluating setbacks and setback's potentials in designing the super-highrise buildings for the variation of building form, size, and type.

This work aims at analyzing the comparative feature about female flight attendant uniform designs of Korean and Asian region low cost carriers and providing some basic materials for development of these airline companies. As a research method, examinations were carried out on attendant's uniform both theoretically and empirically. Comparison of uniforms was made among the five Korean carriers and ten typical Asian carriers for empirical research. Results showed the followings. First, all Korean low cost carriers were characterized as formal style except Jin Air. Unlike this, Asian low cost carriers appeared as diverse including formal, semi formal, and casual styles with a uniquely differentiated image. Second, all carriers applied their own symbolic color to their uniform. Third, logo or symbol was adopted as a pattern on scarf in the two Korean companies but it didn't take effect practically. For those Asian carriers, embroidery was used on jacket, jumper and collar. They utilized even a merchandising character to put emphasis on airline image. Fourth, diverse petty items with a decorative effect were used in the case of Korean low cost carriers. In the changing period of uniform, nothing much was changed and remained almost the same as before. Those in the Asian region were characterized with the smallest number of items and the preclusion of decorative add-ons on uniform.

Automatic code generating function for security protocol of SPEAR II and IFAD VDM-SL Toolbox supporting formal specification is presented in this paper. Among the functions of these tools we compare and analyze the aspects of functions, users, operation and code generation. And we suggest direction to the developing of safe security S/W. The automatic code generating function for security protocol gives the direction for developing of the safe secure software in formal specification method.

Recently, the market competition has been fiercer due to the acceleration of technological change and the launch of intelligent products. In this situation, technology cooperation activities through networks rather than independent technological innovation activities of a single company or institution are recognized as a crucial strategy to gain competitiveness. Technology cooperation can take various forms depending on the target technology, and researchers have conducted performance analyses of technology cooperation types. However, there have not been data-based quantitative studies on the types and trends of technology cooperation for the target technology. In this paper, we explored the difference between the technology cooperation types by technology and time using the formal concept analysis method and co-patent information. In particular, the proposed methodology has been verified through the case study of electric vehicles, and it is intended to suggest the direction of technological cooperation according to specific technologies and cooperation targets in the future
