In this paper, tension tests and formability tests are performed to construct a database related to mechanical properties and the formability of the AZ31B Mg alloy sheet. A forming test with a hemi-spherical punch is conducted at varying temperatures to establish a forming limit diagram. In order to verify the applicability of the analysis using the conventional flow hardening model, a finite element analysis is performed on the hemi-spherical punch forming process and the results are compared with experimental ones. The study investigates problems involving a computational analysis that does not consider flow softening of the magnesium alloy at elevated temperatures.
Formability and other mechanical properties of sheet metals are strongly dependent on the texture. It was studied to improve the formability of the Al alloy(AA3003) sheets which were rolled under the non-lubrication condition and subsequent heat treated. In the non-lubrication rolled and subsequent heat treated Al alloy sheet, the variation of the plastic strain ratios were investigated in this study. Non-lubrication rolled Al sheets showed a fine grain size and after subsequent heat treated specimens showed that the $\beta$-fiber texture component was increased. The plastic strain ratios of the non-lubrication rolled and subsequent heat treated Al alloy sheets were about two times higher than those of the original Al sheets. These could be related to the formation of $\beta$-fiber texture components through the non-lubrication rolling and subsequent heat treatment in Al sheet.

For the product with small diameter, long column, and parabolic shape, the forging formability of the high-carbon steel wire rod was investigated in this study. By using the three-dimensional finite element method, the formability of wire was reviewed by forming analysis for the desired parabolic shape of local part. Analysis results due to forging direction, forging velocity, friction coefficient and constraint location were also investigated. On the basis of these results, it is noted that the forging direction has the big influence when the product with long column is forged. As the forging velocity increases, buckling tends to be limited and formability of parabolic shape is improved. By constraining the lower parabolic shape part to suppress plastic strain, the effect depending on friction coefficient is not almost appeared. And good parabolic shape is obtained at the region of the forging velocity of more than 0.5 m/s.
Magnesium alloy has low formability at room temperature and therefore, in many cases, forming at elevated temperatures is necessary to obtain the required material flow without failure. Tn the present study, square cup deep drawing tests using the magnesium alloy AE31 sheet were experimentally conducted using the porches and dies with different edge radius to evaluate the formability sensitivity to the die design variables. The experimental results showed that the fracture position over the cup wall moved from the punch nose to the flange as the die temperature increased, and that the drawing depth change was more affected by the punch radius than the die radius.

A good drawability of material itself is required. To improve the formability in deep drawing process. Besides that bending resistance should be reduced by increasing die round appropriately, drawing load should be minimized by improving the lubricant condition between die and material, and breaking load should be increased by selecting a pertinent punch round and by augmenting the friction resistance in Punch. In this study, a multi-stage deep drawing process is analyzed using ABAQUS, the effects of formability factors. Such as die shoulder radius, punch-die clearance and friction coefficient are investigated.

Press formabilities of aluminum sheets for automobile body were investigated. Plane strain stretching test (called RIST-PSST), cupping test and U bending test were performed to assess the press formability of aluminum sheets respectively. The results showed that aluminum sheets are generally inferior to cold-rolled steel sheet of deep drawing quality (CSP3N) in press formability. The limiting punch height (LPH) and limiting plane strain (FLCo) of aluminum sheets are 50%-70% level compared to that of CSP3N. Moreover, the limiting drawing ratios(LDR) of aluminum sheets are ranged between 1.95 and 2.1. The poor press formability of aluminum sheets is responsible for low values of total elongation and plastic anisotropy parameter in tensile characteristic. The shape fixability of aluminum sheets evaluated in U bending test is very poor due to its low elastic modulus compared to CSP3N.

The effect of the tool-sheet interaction on formability enhancement in electromagnetic forming is investigated using FEM. A free bulging and a conical forming die with 0.7mm AL1050 sheet are used to evaluate damage evolution based on Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman plasticity material model. The impact between the tool and sheet results in complex stress states including compressive hydrostatic stresses, which leads to a suppression of void growth and restrain ascending void volume fraction of the sheet. Therefore, the damage suppression due to the tool-sheet interaction can be the main factor contributing to the increased formability in the electromagnetic forming process.

In order to improve the sheet formability of the ferritic stainless steel, the through-thickness textures of the recrystallized sample was modified by means of a thermomechanical treatment. An annealing process between the cold rolling reductions modified the preferred orientations throughout the thickness, which resulted in the modification of the final cold rolling texture as well as the final recrystallization texture. With the help of the modification of the recrystallization texture by the intermediate annealing, improvement of the sheet formability, i.e. an increase of the Lankford value.
This study examined the mechanical properties and bending formability evaluation of spring strip materials(SK5 CSPH, STS 301 CSP-EH, C7701-H). The hardness test and tensile test were performed at room temperature($20^{\circ}C$) for mechanical properties. The U-bending test were carried out at various conditions of punch corner radius(Rp), ratio of punch comer radius/thickness(Rp/t) and ratio of clearance/thickness(Rp/t) and ratio of clearance/thickness(C/t) for bending formability evaluation.
6061 aluminum alloy sheets were I-square butt welded using a continuous wave Nd:YAC laser. Heat inputs were varied from 54.6 to 80 J/mm for butt welding using different sets of the laser power and the weld speed. I-square butt welds were also made with and without Ar shielding gas. The effect of Ar shielding gas and heat input on the mechanical properties and formability was investigated using Vickers hardness, transverse-weld tensile and bulge test. Porosity on the weld beads and sections and hot crack on the fracture surfaces of transverse-weld tensile test specimens were investigated using optical and scanning electron microscopy The experimental results showed that mechanical properties and formability of 6061 aluminum alloy laser welds were degraded compared to those of base metal. Mechanical properties and formability of 6061 aluminum alloy laser welds were not substantially changed when Ar shielding gas was supplied or heat inputs were varied.
