  • We propose an practical embodiment-based programming training course for middle school students using Arduino and conduct survey before and after the curriculum. Arduino is an open source physical computing platform that integrates the IDE used in processing language. It is a low-cost, relatively simple I/O interface compared to other platforms, and because of its practical formability, it is educational material suitable for programming. Subsequent surveys will provide feedback on changes in cognition of programming needs and improvement in thinking skills. In this study, the program based on embody-based programming using Arduino was conducted for 8 weeks for each first grade, and 112 middle school students for two years from '16 to '17. Based on the theoretical and practical training, the training was based on the application of the ultrasonic sensor to the RC car and the preparation of the adduction quadrotor drone. The purpose of this study is to prove that the recognition, necessity, and programming education of middle school students are effective for the improvement of thinking ability through the program based on embody-based programming using Arduino.

  • GFRP rebars could be deteriorated by concrete alkalinity. This paper focuses on the investigation of durability of GFRP rebars with ribs exposed to alkaline environment of concrete. It has been reported that the milled E-glass fibers in the ribs of GFRP rebar can increase bond strength between GFRP rebars and the concrete. In this study, the effect of milled alkaline resistant glass fibers (milled AR glass) and milled E-glass in the ribs on the durability of GFRP rebar is investigated through ISS tests and moist absorption tests of the bare rebar. To accelerate the effect of the alkalinity, high temperature($40^{\circ}C$) was applied. According to the test results, mix ratio of milled glass fibers in the ribs by weight had significant effect on durability of GFRP rebars with ribs. It is because that the high mix ratio may leads more voids in the ribs due to lower workability and formability. On the other hand, changing fiber type in the ribs from E-glass to AR-glass had no improvements on ISS strength of the GFRP rebar. Therefore, it is found that determination of proper mix ratio of milled glass fiber in the mixture for the formation of the ribs of the GFRP rebar is important.

  • Multi-stage deep drawing is a widely used industrial manufacturing process, and its applications are gradually expanding to both small products and large metallic products. The USB C-type socket used in smart phones, for example, is manufactured using oval multi-stage deep drawing. The socket is very small and slender and it requires precise manufacturing. The thickness distribution of the final product is guaranteed only if it is uniform throughout the overall process. Therefore, minimizing the height difference between long and short sidewalls after the first operation is important for this goal. An initial blank optimization was performed for an oval-type drawing process based on finite element simulations. The goal was to determine an initial blank geometry that can maintain uniform height and thickness after the first draw operation. The initial blank shape of the sheet metal was optimized, and the results show that it satisfied the conditions of minimal thickness reduction and even thickness distribution. The geometry from the optimized simulation was compared with experimental results, which showed good agreement.

  • Currently, automotive pre-primed coatings has been developed to overcome environmental regulations and to reduce manufacturing cost in automotive industry. By these reasons, an automotive pre-primed system has been investigated to remove the wash and pre-treatment process using a roll coating application. It is required to develop non-weldable pre-primed system for automotive structural adhesives, because pre-primed sheet coated with organic compounds is hard to be assembled by welding process. Primer 1 (polyester type) and primer 2 (urethane type) were designed to satisfy flexibility and formability for non-weldable pre-primed system. According to the results of physical property test of the primers, adhesion test such as single-lap shear test and T-peel test, primer 1 (polyester type) had better physical properties such as pencil hardness, solvent resistance, flexibility and adhesion with automotive adhesive than that of primer 2 (polyurethane type). In addition, the possibility of the non-weldable pre-primed system was applicable to automotive assembly process in place of welding process.

  • Recently, the current thermal battery technology needs new materials for electrodes in the power and energy density to meet various space and defense requirements. In this paper, to replace the pellet type Li(Si) anode having limitations of the formability and capacity, electrochemical properties of the lithium anode with high density for thermal batteries were investigated. The lithium anode (Li 17, 15, 13 wt%) was fabricated by mixing the molten lithium and iron powder used as a binder to hold the molten lithium at $500^{\circ}C$. The single cell with 13 wt% lithium showed a stable performance. The 2.06 V (OCV) of the lithium anode was significantly improved compared to 1.93 V (OCV) of the Li(Si) anode. Specific capacities during the first phase of the lithium anode and Li(Si) were 1,632 and $1,181As{\cdot}g^{-1}$, respectively. As a result of the thermal battery performance test at both room and high temperatures, the voltage and operating time of lithium anode thermal batteries were superior to those of using Li(Si) anode thermal batteries. The power and energy densities of Li anode thermal batteries were also remarkably improved.

  • In this study, I examined the visual elements for narrative structure and the symbols, scene components and visual styles in the images through analyze the flat staging in Tomm Moore's animated feature film, . As a research method, I figure out the general theories about staging and analyze extracted scenes which revealed flat staging in the , then summarize and clarify the flat staging production elements and features of Tomm Moore. As a result, in , the composition of the screen using the basic shapes, the screen composition containing the spiral which is symbol of the Celtic traditional pattern, the stable and flat frame expression through the balanced screen composition, expression of spatial sensation using perspective, appearance of the period by using the inverted perspective, and composition that can emphasize the flat formability are appeared as a characteristic. Through this, the two-dimensional planarity was maximized to convey the feeling of appreciating the illustrations of fairy tales. Tomm Moore, who produced animation based on folk tales in order to inherit the traditional culture of Ireland, has been attracting worldwide attention because of its flat staging to help narrative, enhancing the original expression and performance of animation. I hope that this study will be used as basic data for industry workers and researchers who make unique and excellent animated feature film.

  • In order to optimize the prepreg compression molding (PCM) process, the forming simulation is required to cope with any problems that may be raised during the process. For the improvement of simulation accuracy, the input data of material property should be measured accurately. However, most studies assume that the compressive properties of the prepreg are identical to the tensile properties without quantifying them separately. Therefore, in this study, the in - plane compressive properties of the prepreg are presented to improve the accuracy of the forming simulation. As a result, the compressive modulus of the fibers was measured to be about $10^{-2}$ times lower than the tensile modulus. Also we designed a square-cup mold with a tilting angle of $110^{\circ}$ to simulate the prepreg formability during the high temperature compression mold process. Shear angles were measured at each corner, which were compared with the simulation results. It was observed that the simulation results using the accurate compressive properties of the prepreg showed a similar trend with the experimental results. It was confirmed that the measured data of the in-plane compression property improved the accuracy of the forming simulation results.

  • In this paper, after studying structural performance for the representative corrugated steel plate used in Korea, we proposed the optimum shape for section of corrugated steel plate considering a width of steel plates that can be produced currently in the factory. Using AISI(1986) in examination for the performance of the corrugated steel plate, we determined the mechanical limit of the optimum sections considering shear force and bending moment of corrugated steel plate and also determined the geometric limit of them considering formability, shapes and ratio between width of steel plate before forming and that after forming. As a result of examination for performance of steel plate applying algorithm for searching optimal sections algorithm developed in this study to the existing representative corrugated steel plate, allowable force and moment of inertia indicated the maximum values at bending radius 76mm and internal bending angle $50^{\circ}$. And as an application result of the optimum design system that used SS490 with 1,550mm of width and 4,700mm of length considering current production situation in Korea, we developed the new section with more than 2 times of structural performance comparing with existing corrugated steel plate.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of post heat treatment on bonding properties of roll cladded Ti/MS/Ti materials. First grade Ti sheets and SPCC mild steel sheets were prepared and then Ti/MS/Ti clad materials were fabricated by a cold rolling and post heat treatment process. Microstructure and point analysis of the Ti/MS interfaces were performed using the SEM and EDX Analyser. Diffusion bonding was observed at the interfaces of Ti/MS. The thickness of the diffusion layer increased with post heat treatment temperature and the diffusion layer was verified as having $({\epsilon}+{\zeta})+({\zeta}+{\beta}-Ti)$ intermetallic compounds at $700^{\circ}C$ and an $({\zeta}+{\beta}-Ti)$ intermetallic compound at $800^{\circ}C$, respectively. The micro Knoop hardness of mild steel decreased with post heat treatment temperature; however, those of Ti decreased at a range of $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ and showed a uniform value until $800^{\circ}C$ and then increased rapidly up to $900^{\circ}C$. The micro Knoop hardness value of the diffusion layer increased up to $700^{\circ}C$ and then saturated with post heat treatment. A T-type peel test was used to estimate the bonding forces of Ti/Mild steel interfaces. The bonding forces decreased up to $800^{\circ}C$ and then increased slightly with post heat treatment. The optimized temperature ranges for post heat treatment were $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ to obtain the proper formability for an additional plastic deformation process.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the applicability of lignocellulosic fiber and coconut shell activated carbon (CSA) for the production of a particulate matter (PM)-reducing air-filter as raw materials to solve the environmental problems of non-woven fabrics. CSA had a good potential to use as a raw material of air-filter for reducing volatile organic compounds as well as noxious metals, and reduction capability of the CSA was 5 times higher than that of wood fiber. Natural adhesives formulated with proteinaceous wastes mostly were applied successfully to fabricate air-filters with the shape of fiberboard. The air-filter fabricated with the minimum target density of 200 kg/m3 and the maximum CSA-content of 40 wt% in fiberboard had a good manageable strength. However, the fiberboard filters was required to make vent-holes for improving an air-permeability of the filters. Size of the CSA particles was adjusted to greater than 2 mesh with the consideration of strength and formability of the fiberboard. Three-layers fiberboard that only wood fiber and the mixture of wood fiber and CSA were formed in the surface and middle layers, respectively, was determined to the optimal condition for the production of air-filters. In addition, traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees (TKP) showed a good PM-reducing property as an air-filter. It is concluded that air-filtering set composed of fiberboard with vent-holes and TKP instead of conventional air-filters made with non-woven fabrics can be used as a filter for reducing the concentrations of PM, VOC and noxious metals existed in indoor and outdoor spaces.
