Analysis on the Acceptance of Foreign Fashion Trends in Korean Fashion Collection (국내 패션컬렉션에 나타난 해외 패션트렌드의 수용도 분석)

  • This study investigates the analysis on the acceptance of Foreign Fashion trends in Korean Fashion Collection by collections, years, season, and designers. The purpose of this study is Korean collection's degree to adopt and receive foreign collections, by comparative analysis of design features between Seoul and foreign collections. For such purpose, from 2006 S/S to 2011 F/W, 5185 pictures were collected from designer's photos of Seoul, Paris, Milan, NY, and London collections. The content analysis and statistical analysis using SPSS will be conducted for data analysis. The results of the research are as follows. First, regarding the design features, square-form silhouette, achromatic colors, and none pattern were presented as well. Second, there were significant differences in the design characteristics of each year. Particularly, in 2008, X-form silhouette, Yellow and Green color, and flower pattern were emphasized. Third, the design features by season were significant differences. In S/S season, square-form and X-form silhouette, achromatic colors of white and gray color, none pattern were evident while in F/W season, square-form Silhouette, achromatic colors of black and gray, and none pattern were emphasized. Fourth, the design features by designer are as follows. In terms of form, Seoul collection was influenced by Paris collection. In terms of colors, it was influenced by NY and London collections.

Practical Hull Form Design using VOB (VOB를 이용한 선형 설계 실용화에 대한 연구)

  • In general, ship hull form design is carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the longitudinal variation of the sectional area curves is adapted from a similar mother ship to determine the volume distribution in ships. At this design stage, the initial design conditions of displacement, longitudinal center of buoyancy, etc. are satisfied and the global hydrodynamic properties of the structure are optimized. The second stage includes the local designing of the sectional forms. Sectional forms are related to the local pressure resistance in the fore- and aft-body shapes, cargo boundaries, interaction between the hull and propeller, etc. These relationships indicate that the hull sections need to be optimized in order to minimize the local resistance. The volumetric balanced (VOB) variation of ship hull forms has been suggested by Kim (2013) as a generalized, systematic variation method for determining the sectional area curves in hull form design. This method is characterized by form parameters and is based on an optimization technique. This paper emphasizes on an extensional function of the VOB considering a geometrical wave profile. We select a container ship and an LNG carrier to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed technique. Through analysis, we confirm that the VOB method, considering the geometrical wave profile, can be used as an efficient tool in the hull form design for ships.

  • The wide range of understanding on form, function and style are very important in design practice. Because any design can't be existed without form and function and, also, every design can be embodied by the style. From this point of view, the new interpretation and their relations on form, function and style are studied in this paper. First of all, 1-In Introduction, a few issues are suggested to the purpose and requirement with explaining the background of the paper. 2-Design Form; original form, hand-made form, standard form and expressive form are researched. 3-Design Function; original function. traditional function, absolute function and relative function are studied. 4-Design Style; survival style, folk style, simple style and fusion style are searched. Finally, 5-In Conclusion, the approach method is expressed on form, function and style, and their relations are discussed.

Research on Wave-Making Resistance Reduction Technology for Container Ships (컨테이너선의 조파저항 감소 기술에 대한 연구)

  • This paper aimed to summarize research on technologies that could efficiently reduce wave-making resistance of container ships. Tto develop wave resistance reduction technology that could be applied to container ships and use it in real ship design, hull-form optimal design was performed by applying optimization algorithms, hull-form change algorithms, ship performance prediction algorithms, automation algorithms, and iterative optimal design techniques. A computer program was also developed. To properly set design variables known to be important elements in hull-form optimal design and to efficiently set lower and upper limits of design variables, a sensitivity analysis algorithm was developed and applied to hull-form optimal design. To predict the reliability and applicability of the developed computer program for real ships, hull-form optimal design was performed for a KRISO Container Ship (KCS), a container ship with various studies conducted worldwide. Hull-form optimal design was performed at Fn=0.26, the design speed of the KCS ship. Numerical analysis was performed on the hull-form of the target ship, the KCS ship, and the hull-form of the ship derived as a result of the hull-form optimal design to determine wave resistance, wave system, and wave height. The optimal ship's wave resistance was found to be reduced by 80.60% compared to the target ship. The displacement and wetted surface area were also found to be reduced by 1.54% and 1.21%, respectively.

  • Since the 21st century a free-form building has been noticeably constructed. Now the definition "the monumental architecture is a free-form one." has come to be established. As a free-form building became a landmark of the city and a factor rising a value of the building all around the world, it is currently required to consider a more efficient design process. Therefore this research aims to learn approaches of the lasting free-form design process by considering the design process of Dongdaemun Design Plaza(DDP) designed by 'Zaha Hadid' that is a typical free-form building of Korea and the correlation between the design in the conceptual stage and the BIM(Building Information Modeling) design in practical stage.

  • This paper proposes a form-based distributed database design methodology ($FD^3$). The methodology consists of five design phases such as (i) form requirement analysis (ii) schema integration (iii) distribution analysis (iv) distribution design, and (v) local logical/physical design. In the $FD^3$, all the important design information for each phase is obtained by using an organizations forms, Users requirements are analyzed by using forms that contain logical and quantitative information for distribution design. $FD^3$ resolves naming conflicts by employing SQLs based on the form field data in the schema integration phase. Furthermore, $FD^3$ enhances the quality of distributed database design by incorporating communication costs into the design model. A real-life case is illustrated to demonstrate the usefulness of the $FD^3$.

  • The research want to know about form creation method's special quality that found in digital construction design process that using digital media, and they comparison analysis that who positive using digital media, Frank O. Gehry, Peter Eisenman, Greg Lynn, UN studio's work. First, In digital design process using digital media is make full use to design unfolding step and application way can change by architect's recognition difference of using digital media and each architect's design general idea unfolding process, and it means form creation process can change. Second, In digital design process a building form doesn't design adaptation to construction system, they directly design the third dimension form. So, they deduction a new form that unification and integration. Third, the architect that appear's in digital design process's part is existing, data from position of the master which it selects the coding selects the outcome goods which appears in computer operation with coordinator role of the originality and construction sense which it is visible.

The exterior design styling and interior space design are induced on the important design concept in cruise ships.   • It takes only few seconds to find an artifact that has anthropomorphic form. There are numerous examples illustrating human's shape in daily life products. Usage of anthropomorphic form has been a basic design strategy especially when industrial designers design intelligent service robots because most of robot features were basically from human. Therefore, it's necessary to use anthropomorphic form not only in appearance design but also in interaction design. To use anthropomorphic form effectively, it needs to measure how much the artifact is similar to human, and then to evaluate whether the usage of anthropomorphic form fits to the artifact. This study's goal was to set up an evaluation standard for anthropomorphism for robot design. We suggest that there are three criteria for the evaluation standard. Those are 'anthropomorphic form in appearance', 'anthropomorphic form in Human-Robot Interaction', and 'accordance in two former criteria'. We expect that when designers put an evaluation step of anthropomophism in their design process of robots, robots might become more preferred by users, and easier to understand how to interact with.

A Study on the Bow Hull Form Design of Full Ship Considering the Nonlinear Waves (비선형파를 고려한 비대선의 선수선형설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper introduces a new hull form design method for the bow of a full ship, by actively applying the relation between the fore-body hull form and its wave resistance characteristics. For the hull form design, the Series 60($C_B=0.8$) hull is chosen as the parent ship, and Kracht's charts are used to determine the parameters of the bulbous bow in the early stages of hull form design. Several hull forms have been tested in order to obtain enough hull form variations with various bow shapes and design parameters in the search of the best design. In order to investigate the resistance characteristics of the designed hull forms, numerical simulations with corresponding model tests have been rigorously performed. For the numerical simulations, the Marker-density method is employed to track the nonlinear phenomena of the free surface(program IUBW). Model tests have also been performed to achieve an improved research performance using the designed hulls. Both numerical and experimental results show that the wave resistance of the hull forms can be effectively diminished if the bows are designed using the method introduced in this research. It is also expected that this research can facilitate better productivity in hull form design, especially at the preliminary design stage of a full ship type vessel.
